The team are not coached to have any control. Another midfielder will not help if Warne continues to employ the tactics he wants us to play football.
I say football. It’s pinball. Players must be being encouraged to move it as forward as quickly as possible, taking no more than 3 touches. Chaotic, gas out type football.
I thought we might go up with our squad automatically, even with him in charge. I am beginning to think not.

Agreed, definite improvement in recent months and now looking a really decent and effective L1 striker.

The majority consensus was that Derby were beaten by a superior P'boro team. Acknowledging that inevitably, points will be dropped isn't negative and it certainly isn't bile. But hey, don't let the reality get in the way of a gross over reaction. By the way, the the forum is essentially a platform which enables posters to freely express their opinions, within guidelines.

The value that the EFL trophy brings to a club like Derby County, is the opportunity to give game time to fringe players, as well as younger players that the manager has his eye on for the future.

Whatever Warneball is?? However, individual performances have improved, and we are playing better as a team.

Love this. Names, stories and derivations. I knew a bloke in Sheffield, surname Havenhand. His great grandparents were Dutch emigres and opened a Butchers Shop: “R. Van Hand.” Changed it at the outbreak of WW1 as anything faintly Germanic wasn’t popular. Shops name sounded the same in proper Yorkshire speak.

Agree with this, I for one was critical about Collins, but he seems to be a lot fitter than the first 3 months of the season. Also don't like the back 5 system, even today's match showed gaps and players caught out of position. A better team than Fleetwood would have caused more problems and scored more goals. It's like Warne is trying to justify bringing in Bradley by fitting him in along the two centrehalfs who are head and shoulders above him in quality.

Is there any evidence that Hourihane was once as quick as Linford Christie ? People keep saying his legs have gone. Would love to see his running stats, perhaps he never was that quick ?

Winning is a good habit to have & obviously a Wembley final would boost the club coffers. However it must not be to the detriment of the league campaign & in resting key players, we should be giving opportunities to promising Academy players as well as fringe players.
My criticism of this EFL Trophy campaign is that our starting line ups have been far too strong - in the last round against Fleetwood (5th December), Hourihane, Bird & Cashin all started and Mendez-Laing was brought off the bench for 45 mins. In the run up to a busy Christmas schedule playing a style that requires high energy and intensity (as well as having unchanged teams over the festive period), I thought that was extremely unwise - this in a game with less than 2000 present at PP. Totally OTT.
For the game against Bradford, I don't want any of those 4 starting (ideally with Mendez-Laing given the night off) & would like to see more of Darren Robinson, Fapetu, Weston & Brown as well as full games for Sibley, Elder, Thompson, Ward, Fornah & Bradley.

The trouble is, it’s a competition that absolutely nobody outside these two divisions gives a s*** about. So the prize money is never going to be worthwhile.
A much better idea that I’ve been pushing for years would be to combine the EFL Cup and EFL Trophy into one competition - containing all 72 EFL clubs, and excluding the Premier League teams. That way all EFL clubs get a genuine chance of winning a trophy (and hopefully there would be more interest with bigger Championship teams involved), and the Premier League teams get the reduced fixture schedule that they’ve been harping on about for years.
Whilst we’re in the competition though, why on earth would you do anything but try to win it?! It might not be a major honour, but a trophy is a trophy at the end of the day, and this club has been so starved for success in my lifetime that I’d take anything! We should have as good a chance as any team of lifting the trophy at this point.
Cup games like this provide a great chance to get minutes into squad players as well. That doesn’t mean throw our U21s out to the slaughter, it means giving players who normally start on the bench the chance to start a game - and should have more than enough to see off Bradford.

I agree on the 6 points from 9 being satisfactory. But when you are 2-1 up at home with not so much time left on the clock 9 points from 9 is definitely within your grasp. The fact that the P'boro were more dominant is irrelevant at that stage. It's all about game management, and that's were the game was lost. The comedic defending for their third goal just summed it up really.
Regarding Warne's on air profanities, I heard the original broadcast on RD, but actually didn't believe what I'd heard until Gibson apologised. Hardly shocking in todays society, but pretty sure that's a first for Derby County manager.

Maybe an upgrade on Wildsmith would help in a promotion push? His decision making isn't always great, as witnessed in the Oxford game. Also the third Peterborough goal, albeit a comedy of defensive errors, Wildsmith should be doing better than the rather lame attempted save of a soft header. If Vickers is considered worthy of a start, then it's safe to assume that Wildsmith is the best we have at the club. In which case we could most probably do better.

Really? Just another oversight by the recruitment team then? Wouldn't it be a novel idea to sign players who can actually play games??
