I would say that getting a message over to the players, is more likely to be received if delivered coherently, than as a shouty bollocking.

his manner has attracted these players to the club.

There’s a difference between needing to get across tactical tweaks and needing a reaction when better quality players are losing their individual battles on a pitch,

  2. Warne is a strange one. Sure he’s been promoted 3 times but has only managed one club. It’s a big risk for him and for us.

Im hoping to see a more direct style (direct doesn’t mean Hoofball, Liverpool play direct but wouldn’t call it hoofball it’s just about moving up the pitch quickly and dangerously at the expense of controlling the whole match).

  3. Think Rosenior needs a club that isn’t seen as a scalp by 90% of the division if I’m honest. most clubs happy to watch us pass between Cashin and Davies pick their moment to press and punish us on the counter or by forcing an error.

some great football at times but how much is down to him? You put 11 good players at this level together and they’re going to occasionally click and produce good play.

I like Rosenior but like others I was a little concerned when I saw his team talks. Doesn’t look like he’s got a bollocking in him. I think he’ll be a successful manager but I think he’ll need to do it out of the limelight at a smaller club where he can overachieve. Overachievement probably isn’t possible here due to the size…

Cotterill: "I thought we could've won it. We had the better chances." Only MK Dons (0.5), Bristol Rovers (0.5) and Morcambe (0.4) has a lower xG in L1 last night.

We should be creating more chances from 80% possession in the first half though. Interesting to see that Barkhuizen and Sibley, who most of us felt had the best chances last night don't even appear in the top 3.

Every game this season we’ve been ahead on xG. If this continues then the goals and wins will come. I’d be more worried if we were winning whilst massively losing the xG battle as that shows a regression back to the mean is imminent whereas in our current form a regression to the mean would suggest more goals and wins

  5. Sunderland fans, Wednesday fans, Ipswich fans, Portsmouth fans.

They all warned us this is what it would be like. Did some of us arrogantly think a club on the verge of dying wouldn’t suffer the same challenges that other big clubs suffer when we came down?

It is frustrating when Smith is the only midfielder who seems to look pass the ball forwards at every opportunity however we can’t see what the players can see and Shrews were so well disciplined and organised that we found it tough.

No one as far as I can see is screaming for LR’s head, but the play it safe away from home template has to change. We have thrown away 5 points in our 2 away games because they were both very winnable and yet we let them slip away. The possession based game at this level isn’t going to work - teams will do exactly what Shrewsbury did and just move as a unit to frustrate us. LR has to be flexible in his tactics and work out a way of switching the play or we are in for a season of dull 0-0’s or 1-0’s (wins and losses). Early days but I worry that LR has his tactical philosophy set in stone regardless of the opposition.
However, isn’t it nice to be moaning about football things rather than finances and administrators? COYR!

This isn’t accurate. Firstly we battered Charlton and got sucker punched. That’s part of football. We’ll do that to others.

Secondly you’re talking as if there’s only one team in a match. We’ve already seen that 80% of sides in this league are going to be playing us like it’s a cup match. They were wasting time from the off last night - I don’t begrudge them for it but it’s a lot harder to break down teams who’d snap your hands off for a point than those who have come with a plan to win the match.

We’re still a fortnight behind other teams in terms of prep for obvious reasons. If we’re still all possession no bite by end of September then I’d share some of your worries but right now a team thrown together without a proper full pre season have 7 points from 4 matches and have created enough chances to win the 2 matches they didn’t.

  7. If you’re worried after watching/listening to that then you may as well call it a day for following us otherwise you’re gonna end up in tears when we actually don’t play well.

Bossed the majority of the game - they did come in to it early in the second half but that’s always going to happen, you can’t control a game for 100% of the time. Created more than enough chances to win 3 matches never mind 1.

Knight and Collins (x2) misses were costly ultimately but whilst ever we are creating chances and controlling games I’ll be happy and fairly confident that the wins won’t be far behind. A good performance today across 95% of the pitch. Just a shame the 5% missing was their penalty box.

You can see he's a decent player but I thought he had one of those days where nothing went right for him yesterday.  Just seemed on a different wavelength to the rest of the team. Totally understandable of course given how little time the team have had together.

Sibley was much more effective when he replaced him.

Think he showed very quickly that he will make things happen and get us up the pitch. Difference between him passing back to CBs vs others is that he was sprinting to make a new angle to get the ball back through the lines. He was actually getting very frustrated at not getting the ball back.

also that ball for NML was delightful.

Agreed Sibley made a good impact when coming on but honestly believe he could have replaced about 3/4 different players when he came on.

I like the home and 3rd kit. Away is okay. Just can’t wait for the tip off prices to be announced. I know it is beyond the control of the club and lies with the manufacturer but prices are ridiculous. For the past few kits I’ve sourced my shirts from elsewhere and the quality is very good. Worn for each game and also for playing in weekly. All for £25. Also kids come with shorts for £25. So £75 for me and my lads to be kitted out.

Football kit pricing along with pretty much every aspect of football needs addressing.

How do you know it is not one of his darkest times? He's clearly a lad with an abundance of talent and sometimes there comes pressure. Maybe it got too much for the lad.

He's not been a tool on social media, he has kept quiet. Sometimes silence speaks volumes.

Shame on anyone who's jumped on the HMP bandwagon without knowing the facts.

Wasn’t he allegedly involved in ‘the crash’?

How do you know Buchanan isn't depressed that Liam doesn't rate him and has told him Fozzy is his number 1 left back, but he chooses not to say so? Or that Duncan is egotistical and entitled but has got a representative who has floated the idea he is struggling with his mental health to divert attention from his diva-ish behaviour?

I've no idea and I dare say neither have you. Why is it OK to criticise one but not the other, unless that's personal choice - which exactly what 'you' are criticising other people for.

Seems pretty hypocritical to me is my point.

You’re having to make up possible situations to defend a guy ditching us in one of our darkest times. I can criticise him because he has done this - there’s no speculation. He literally used a loophole to tear up his contract with us.

On the other hand Bobby Duncan just isn’t being played…

Is “agreed terms” actually legally binding though? If he’s not old enough to sign a contract, he’s not old enough to sign a contract. If a bigger club offer him mega millions in the next few months, can he just take it?

Bet it just juices up any compo payments if they do lose him (until the contract is signed)

  13. On Bobby - I hope he’s got the right people around him and I hope he gets himself back on track.

Lots of big clubs have given him a chance which means there must be something there and he’s since ditched the agent who had him demanding to leave Liverpool so probably recognises that was poor advice?

Anyway glad to see a few have written him and his entire character off based on rumours and guesswork. Probably the same sort who didn’t want CKR because they heard he was Mr Bigtime. Funny how that worked out eh?

I'm not that fussed about him either way actually, so this will come out harsher than I feel.  But I'm not sure why he gets a pass....and Lee Buchanan who has played well for the club, worked hard and is probably just taking his agent's advice to try and further his career ...is fair game?

Maybe Lee has a relative who needs horrendously expensive medical treatment which is only available overseas or more realistically maybe he comes from a family who have always struggled and has an overwhelming desire to make sure his parents no longer have to worry.

There are always reasons for someone's actions and to mitigate them. Fact is Duncan came with a massive reputation for having an overinflated opinion of his ability coupled with an attitude he shouldn't have to start at the bottom and work hard to get what he feels he deserves. Having never met him I have nothing to base my opinion on other than what other people have said, but he has produced the sum total of absolutely zero for his time here, so forgive me for thinking maybe they weren't far wrong.

As for sympathy, well we have been in administration and people have lost their jobs and businesses have been paid back years later a tiny percentage of what was owed to them, so any sympathy would lie with them, not a young lad who appears to have been getting paid a decent wage to do what he wants to do. If he doesn't like it, he has a club to advise him and could go to college and re-train to do something that he does like, just like hundreds of thousands of other people have to do.

One of them hasn’t used a legal loophole in our hour of need to break out of a contract he damn well signed. Hope that clarifies the difference between the two…
