It's not a chant I'd sing or agree with, but some Derby fans are really up themselves if they think our fans are going to be the only ones in the country not to sing tasteless or hurtful songs.

Hey I’d rather be ‘up myself’ and hope that our fans can handle a couple of shandies without feeling the urge to start calling someone a rapist/sex offender.

but that’s just me. Proper up myself. Expecting a bit of decency. Up myself.

For context, Rotherham's wage bill in League 1 is usually about £6m. They have a turnover of just under £10m which tends to mean they run at breakeven at that level.

We'd have a budget, approx £10m higher, but will spend £4m more on the academy. Other costs will be higher than Rotherham's so a £10m wage bill wouldn't be unreasonable.

Worth remembering there is a salary cap in league 1 and 2 now too?

  3. 1) the club is still alive and has its medium term future secured.

    2) we start to identify targets that can take us up next season or at least push at the right end of the league - will not be a given just look at some of the big clubs that have struggled to bounce back before us - and begin to use the second half of the season to build for next season and ensure all players in the gaffers plans know their roles so we hit the ground running.

    3) once the ownership is sorted tie bird down to a long term contract and give him the armband.

Yes that was pretty poor on their part spoiling an otherwise impeccable minute's silence.

Come off it. It was fans from the concourse with no idea it was going on… and why would they? Not even November yet, never mind the 11th. Just unfortunate.

  5. Simon Jordan beer mat Maths. Assuming someone has paid $70m and receives shares amounting to 1% of the business then technically the company is valued at $7bn.

This is all very crude mine and doesn’t take into account that the investment probably combines some equity with debt and the amount paid for the shares may be smaller.

Either way I take owt SJ says with a pinch of salt EA was a serious player according to him.

If it turns out that there is more than one interested party at the end of the due diligence process (ie people haven’t been scared off), do you think the administrators will just plump for the party with the most cash (I’m assuming the asking price will be the same whoever is bidding) or will they determine who would be the ‘best fit’ to run the club in the long term?
Obviously a moot point if it comes down to a bidding war, but if there’s more than one who can meet the asking price, I wonder what the criteria will be.

I think legally they have to go for the highest bid as they’re required to get the best deal for the creditors right??

I wonder how many people have stopped attending because they no longer feel comfortable with the behaviour of some of our 'fans'.

I often find myself feeling a bit uncomfortable with fans’ behaviour. I won’t let it stop me attending because if people like me stop going there’s no one to dilute the idiots.

Been lucky enough to not hear the 2 mentioned in the original post by @DarkFruitsRam7but the Collymore song and the Rooney shxgs who he wants song make me cringe to my core. Toenail curling stuff.

  8. Can’t believe this is even a question. It’s a 0 and that’s being polite.

I was foolish enough to think that someone who had accrued wealth of half a billion big ones in a tough business world knew what he was doing. I didn’t worry as much as I should about big spending because I thought - more business savvy person than me is signing on the dotted line for these we must be fine.

Taken us all for mugs and I genuinely hope it’s got to a point where he’s no longer a millionaire because in the real world that is what happens to people who make appalling decisions with their finances.

Administration clears debts that investors don't want to take on. Mel loses loads on DCFC, part of the deal is to pay off Dell out of his own pocket. Takeover happens for a quid. New investors can invest in the team not historical debt. In a years time the ground gets sold back to the club for 70million and Mel gets his sale price.

A very shyster way of doing it. But I would probably do the same if that's what I was left with.

Administration isn’t the get out of jail free card people are suggesting. It’s a 2 year transfer embargo. It’s a massive points deduction. It is LIQUIDATION but if we cannot pay out liabilities with the potential of ceasing to trade.

This is as bleak as any time in our history. Even when the chains were on the ground. Ultimately it’s much harder in 2021 to find a knight in shining armour to come and save us as the costs of running a club mean making a loss.

He's the manager,he spends all week training, coaching and then picking them to play.

They play to the system that he lays out and that's one that invites pressure and causes players to rooster up under that pressure.

Well let’s clear the players paid handsomely to play football of any responsibility then.

I don’t buy ‘pressure’ for that first goal. He played the ball without looking. He wasn’t tackled. He just played a pass with no idea who was there.

  11. Gone ahead in 4 league games out of 5 this season mind which was unheard of last year when we couldn’t hit a barn door with our nob in the lock. Progress.

We’ll only start holding on a little more convincingly when we have some stronger options from the bench I think. Our starting 11 looked dead on their feet from about 70 onwards today.

Take your point buddy, but its one thing seeing sub-optimal performance, it's another stating he lacks talent and ability. In fairness, most on here do seem to see it but as has been stated countless times, the lad needs to start games, not be given the odd cameo and expected to play at the top of his game. As with any player, games will breed confidence and I think we're stating to see that latent ability coming to the fore now he is being given more game time.

Oh yeah I tend to think that those who write him off completely rather than see it as a poor performance are working in hyperboles
