Terribly unsporting of all the other top 6 to win but I knew my absence would at least mean 3 easy points (by the sounds of it).

Stevenage and Oxford didn’t win..

P.G Wodehouse match report.

Ah, what a delightful spectacle unfolded at Pride Park! A veritable symphony of footballing finesse, where the dashing Derby County lads displayed a masterclass in the art of the beautiful game. With a flick of his coiffed locks, Sibbo graced the pitch with his goal-scoring prowess, each strike a testament to his sartorial elegance. And who could overlook the Padel maestro Gayle, whose header soared through the air like a swan taking flight, leaving the poor Port Vale defence in disarray.

But it was not just in attack where the Rams shone; oh no, their defensive acumen was equally sublime. Cashin, a veritable bastion of impregnability, rebuffed his opponents' advances with the ease of a vegetarian plucking a stray caterpillar from his salad.

And let us not forget the spirited Sonny, whose exuberant arm-waving would have put even the most robust of policemen on point duty to shame.

Under the astute guidance of Warne, the tactical maestro with a bobble hat perched jauntily atop his brow, Derby County danced their way to victory, leaving their opponents in awe. And amidst the jubilation, let us extend a hearty commendation to Ebou Adams, whose display on the field was reminiscent of the legendary Mick McManus himself. Truly, it was a day to remember, where the spirit of camaraderie and sporting excellence reigned supreme.

Quick summary of Warne’s radio Derby interview;

Pleased with start annoyed we went away from what had been working, even with second goal wasn’t best pleased so “calmed them down” at half time. Much better second half.

Was asked about wingbacks and praised Sibley and Ward, said we looked to have more bodies in and around the box which was an issue they addressed after the Charlton game.

Specifically asked about Ward he expanded on his contribution today and across the season.

Mentioned Adams and Gayle’s contributions.

Glad there’s no Tuesday fixture to rest and recover before Saturday’s game.

Asked “How do you keep the calm in run-in?” Said it’s pretty easy, doesn’t worry about the table, sticks to an honest and consistent message, positive culture, mentioned Ramstv put together a video that was showed to the team this week to positively reaffirm the season so far, not getting ahead of themselves/too high or low on the back of a result.

Asked about the video sent to a terminally ill fan he was positive about the club and what it means to the community.

The above is an attempt to objectively capture what was said, my own take on it is that Warne sounded irritated by the performance because of the sloppy period before half time.

Is Sibley claiming that first goal? Was going wide til their defender knocked it in.

His second was nice

Can’t blame the defender for attempting to defend it, but yeah, think it was going wide so has to be an own goal.

Yeah, Yeah... 3-0... whoopie doo, and all that... but...

My biggest takeaway from today's game...
Now, this may be a tad off-topic for a matchday thread, and quite possibly even a tad illegal to mention out loud on the internet since the turn of the century... but what's with Ewie?  Is she just a bloke in drag?  What's occurrin' there then?  Why have I never noticed this before?  Why has nobody told me? 🤷‍♂️

Still don’t particularly like this back three. Bradley is slow and ponderous, Nelson isn’t vastly better either. Means we play at such a laborious pace most of the time.

Today was better because the space that was in the wide areas was occupied by Sibley and Ward who are good enough going forward to use it. That hasn’t been the case for awhile with Elder, Nyambe and (shudder) left back Cashin. You can’t really play a back 3 and then two wing backs who are also bad on the ball.

Barkhuizen may be the most frustrating player in the team. He can't finish to save his life then will bang in a twenty yarder, can't pass the guy next to him then sweeps a perfect ball cross field. He should have about 15 goals from the positions he finds himself in. Drives me up the wall.

Anyway, good win and good to see Ward finally show what he's capable of. Hope Ebou is ok, he's vital.

5 at the back, at home, after 2 defeats? Surely Paul isn't going with the "just try to not lose" mentality, it's that exact mentality that has cost us dearly 2 games on the trot.

The man is absolutely clueless and will cost us promotion this season and its becoming bloody infuriating. Please for the love of God David, Clowes or the fella on here, send Warne packing.

Apart from that, Come On You Rams!

This is a forum, surely people are entitled to comment on the team selection?

Not really a comment on the team selection is it most of it was just another pointless rant at Warne

No wins this calendar year and we play 5 at the back at home ffs

Glad you aren't the manager.... as has been said before, if the wing backs are not converted full backs then this is a positive formation as it gives more attacking options......

Very rare occasion I wasn’t able to follow the game in some capacity.

Just caught the highlights.

Great to see Sibley get a brace. Ward looked like he had a good game. Wildsmith pulled off a decent save. Good to see Gayle get off the mark.

Well done Derby 🐏

Need to see it on TV as from our position in South stand it looked on target, but too far away to tell properly.
