It's actually quite amusing how every season, a thread like this appears and fans get their hopes up that that embarrassing record might get beaten.

It will never get beaten and no team has ever even come close to it. The closest was a huge 27% more with 15 points.

We remain and will remain the laughing stock of English football whether we like that or not and unfortunately for us; Forest will always have the more ammunition to throw at us than we have at them.

We beat them in that season. Surely beaten by the worst team in history is worse than being the worst team in history.

Should anyone "beat" our record purely due to a points deduction, I will refuse to accept it.

If we are to be beaten, it needs to be on merit!  🤣

Well said! They have to go through the pain of 4. 5. 6-0 hammerings.  They don't give these records out to any Tom Dick or Harry

Be interesting to see what Wilder does at Shef Utd for two reasons . Firstly the 11 point total . Also , he has been touted for the Rams job a couple of times . Is he that good or did he just take advantage of the solid foundations Nigel laid with young players like Harry Maguire ? Wouldn’t be the first manager to take advantage of Clough’s hard work.

Just goes to prove Clough jnr was good at collecting the ingredients but was a below par chef!

You can stop that nonsense now. We're in League 1 due to a points deduction, that feels pretty real right now.

Oh, I agree that points deductions are real. That’s not an issue.
But our 11point record was “achieved” without a points deduction. Any team who earns 18 points on the field then had 8 deducted would not be “The worst team in history”!
Maybe if the points deduction was for playing players that shouldn’t have played, therefore cheating on the pitch to achieve those 18 points, then of course I’d concede you have a point (no pun intended!) but not for off-field financials irregularities.

Isn't spending more money, breaking FFP rules considered cheating though, hence the points deduction?

Of course it is.  I'm not disputing that.

Such a scenario could likely lead to a team being labelled "The team with the lowest points total in history".
But I wouldn't equate that with our fabled "Worse team in history" label.

We "achieved" our points total solely on the pitch.  Solely on results.  Solely in the spirit of football.  Solely on the fact we were managed by a dwarf... then a porn star... and at least one of our players had a head shaped like a 50p piece.

Anyone finishing on ten or less points due to points deductions would be a different "record" entirely.
(I hasten to add... If they finished on 7 points, after a 3point deduction, then of course, I wouldn't argue that they hadn't taken our record away, as they only earned 10 points on the pitch any way!)

As for where we are now, the reality is that we got relegated due to cheating the system/going into administration/breaking the rules... not solely as a result of our on-pitch performances/results.

We're in danger of going around in circles.  I simply see a points deduction as a whole different scenario to our 07/08 season.

Neither of us are wrong... we're just looking at it from a different viewpoint.

Well all I know is if the question comes up on Eggheads in 2026, which Premier League club finished on the lowest points tally ever.

They answer Derby but it's Forest who finished on 2 points having been deducted the rest on non paid agent fees.

Thats on them for being silly.

To be honest, seeing as you put it like that, just getting to 11 points was an achievement.
