Was going to say something similar.

Basically, if you’re of a positive or neutral disposition, you will have liked the interview. If you’re anti-Warne already then it’s going to have done very little. And let’s face it, we could win the title this year and the anti-warners would pick fault with the style of play or some other nonsense.

I am an anti-Warne’r. Let’s get that out of the way. So, you say we could win the title this year and the anti-warners would pick fault with the style of play or some other nonsense.

Getting promoted this season, in my opinion, is no hard task. Doing better last season wasn’t either. However, the point I want to make is whether he is able to build a team that will do well if it goes up. To date, his career history is not positive in that respect. Time will tell, but I think he is nothing more than a League 1 ‘specialist’.

You really think 20 players is enough?

Or do you think our record breakingly bad U21 side is full of gems?

Our record breaking my bad u21s was made up of 17 and 18 years olds. Very good 17 and 18 year olds.

There are a few in there that will play for the Derby first team.

Players back on 29th I believe….

I took it as meaning 20-22 that’ll regularly feature or be in contention, not 20 players full stop. It’s not really possible if you consider that 3 will be goalkeepers, so that’s 17 players to cover the other 10 positions for 50+ games in a season.

We fell short because of lack of athleticism last season, not lack of numbers. We weren’t down to the bare bones through injuries but we did look very tired at times and lacked the energy needed for a Warne team.

If we have 20 players and add more athletes to the squad, it won’t be too small to cope.

I don’t think we can pack the squad with numbers just in case of injuries. That results in throwing a lot of money away on players who won’t play much, and we’re still operating under a budget, or it means having unhappy players who risk damaging the dynamic of the squad which is something Warne clearly ranks very highly.

You ask the question but then provide your own prepared answer.

Brian Clough was not even a Fourth Division specialist when he arrived at Derby - he had taken Hartlepools to seventh place in that League. Very soon he was a First Division specialist, in fact he was the best.

Derby County offers Warne far more opportunities for advancement in the Championship than Rotherham ever did or could. At least give him the opportunity to succeed or fail before you hand down your judgement upon him. At the moment you are coming across as just about as suitable to judge Paul Warne as Harriett Harman was to judge Boris Johnson.

I never said that wasn’t the case? Of course it did, because Mel was a bamford. I’m not blaming anyone currently at the club for the mess.

But the fact remains we now have to rebuild the academy, which is a much slower process than rebuilding the first team. The new academy manager is a strong appointment, and I have faith he’ll get the job done. But it will take years, not months. No one is coming through for the foreseeable future.

Hence why I said no one will break through for about 3 years. By which point the more promising next generation will be ready. They’re clearly not ready yet as they lost every game in the U21 league, which is understandable given the mess Mel left.

With respect, anyone not coming to the view that BJ was a liar isn’t in any strong position to question my opinion.

However it is feasible that we recruit for the first team AND the academy. The likes of Ebiowei and Plange were signed for the academy following their release from other clubs and just happened to be fast tracked into the side due to circumstance. There are many academy players released from premier league sides who the new academy and recruitment blokes might decide are a good match. 20-22 first team players with a couple of academy players recruited as options could work. Jake Rooney was also an academy pick up initially wasn’t he?
There are potentially positive scenarios to consider as well as the doom and gloom you know?

A majority of Tories on the committee. Harriett Harman didn't even get a vote. Apart from that , you are spot on.

I expressed no judgement at all about Boris Johnson. I have always believed he was an inveterate liar to clarify that point if it is required. But any person has the right to be judged impartially. I do not believe that Harriett Harman, nor I, were suitable people to preside over Boris Johnson's case. So I don't feel I need your respect on this matter.

So in a 7 person committee, with 4 ‘on his side’ he got a bad deal when all 7 voted against him? Feel free to hold an opinion on Harriet Harman. I will feel free to hold an opinion on Paul Warne.

I would think that PW is likely to replace Didzy, Davies, Stearman and Chester with 4 players capable of playing 90mins in every game this coming season. Those 4 signings will not increase the overall squad numbers but will increase the individual match day squad players available, when compared with last season.

Not this Harriett surely. A jewel in the crown of ethics like them all.

In December 2010, it emerged that Harman was amongst 40 MPs who had secretly repaid wrongly claimed expenses between 2008 and 2010.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2009/nov/01/harman-mps-expenses-spouse-ban

In November 2007, it emerged that property developer David Abrahams' secretary Janet Kidd had donated £5,000 to Harman's successful deputy leadership bid. After an investigation by The Mail on Sunday newspaper into other donations made by people associated with Abrahams, and Prime Minister Gordon Brown's assertion that all such monies would be returned, Harman issued a statement saying she accepted the donation on 4 July "in good faith," had registered the monies with the Electoral Commission and the Register of Members' Interests, and that she "was not aware of any funding arrangements... between David Abrahams and Janet Kidd"

In 2003, Harman was fined £400 and banned from driving for seven days after being convicted of driving at 99 mph (159 km/h) on a motorway, 29 mph (47 km/h) above the speed limit.[96]

In 2007, Harman was issued with a £60 fixed penalty notice and given three penalty points on her licence for driving at 50 mph (80 km/h) in a temporary 40 mph (64 km/h) zone. Harman paid the fine several months late and avoided appearing at Ipswich magistrates court.[97] Harman was again caught breaking the speed limit the following April, this time in a 30 mph zone, receiving a further 3 points on her driving licence.[98]

In January 2010 Harman pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention in relation to an incident on 3 July 2009 where she struck another vehicle whilst driving using a mobile phone, she admitted the offence in court.[99][100] Harman was fined £350, ordered to pay £70 costs, a £15 victim surcharge and had three points added to her licence.[101] Road safety organisation Brake criticised the leniency of the punishment and decision to drop the charge of driving whilst using a mobile phone.[102] The judge defended the decision stating: "Ms Harman's guilty plea to driving without due care and attention included her admitting that she had been using a mobile phone at the time"

I'm glad that Paul Warne's driving Derby County and not her GS 😆

In that Warne interview wasn't he talking about firstly 'catching' the three teams that finished above us last season? Well if so that means he's aiming for 1st or 2nd.

Well..except that this ‘logic’ ignores the three teams coming down from the Champ 😎

It's roughly the same thing thing

Speeding and cheating on every wife and partner and being sacked from 5 jobs for lying and parting while the Queen sat alone in church at her husband's funeral. Like 2 peas in a pod.
