Literally the only time in Waghorn's 16 year career where his attitude and professionalism has been questioned by any of his managers, quite the opposite in fact, and it's by Wayne "I'm leaving Derby so I can spend more time with my family in Cheshire.... by moving back to Washington DC"  Rooney.

I think I'll take what Rooney said with a huge pouring of salt.

I think he later said he regretted his comments anyhow.

Interesting how he played with more commitment after it. You believe as you wish, but it was reported as said.

I'd get Waghorn in just for the novelty value.

I've missed the compilations of him being through 1 on 1 with the keeper only to find a series of ingenious ways to fluff it up

Ah, but we've sorted that problem by building an attack that couldn't pass or dribble through an open door much less a L1 defence......

It's crosses headers and second balls all the way, baby.....🤣

Never professed to be a footballer, but you don't have to play the game to recognise talent or lack of it.waghorn was low quality as is Collins

League one footballers. 1 in a million chance of making it. Yeah they are terrible

I wonder how many of the people on here, saying that Waghorn was never any good, also blame Lampard for us losing to Villa at Wembley, because he left Waghorn and Marriott out of the starting line up.

Waghorn in league 1 would improve our squad/team, without question

Excellent point 👏

The thing with Waghorn is. He's not got a club, he lives here, his son plays for the academy. So he won't want his next club to be far. Plus he's at an age where money won't really be a huge issue.

Clearly got no other offers (I'd be surprised if he played yesterday and risked an injury if he was close to signing up with a club)

If we wanted to sign Waghorn. We would have by now.

Signing waggy as a 4th or 5th choice striker as an option off the bench and to cover injuries wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Low cost, low risk. I wouldn’t be against it. There’s better out there for sure. But they’re alot more expensive. But who knows who’s actually available once the dominoes begin to tumble

Sorry, but I have to disagree. We've sold Bielik after making zero appearances last season, so although he is a quality player the squad hasn't gone backwards from last season.

We've sold Knight, who is obviously a very good player played all of the minutes he could have done. However he played those minutes either at right back where we have brought in two specialised wing backs, or at centre mid where Smith is now available in his preferred position.

I don't think that the squad has gone backwards for those two sales.

We released several aging centre backs, and replaced them with younger better suited players for the preferred style of play.

McGoldrick decided to move on. He will obviously be difficult to replace, however he limited a little our style of play due to us being forced to play to his. We have signed an experienced forward who plays to Warne's preferred style.

Last season we finished 7th on goal difference. We were hardly treading water. It is to be seen if we have recruited as well as it would appear, but I don't think for one second that we have gone backwards.

Never understood the emotional pull of wanting to re-sign ex players, particularly when those players weren’t good enough in the first place. An ageing squad cost us last season with legs gone after 60 mins in many games, and the wheels falling off after the Fleetwood game. We need to be looking for the next upcoming players,  not relying on overpaid journeymen. For me it is no to Waghorn and Rhodes.
