Damon1985 Posted November 27, 2022 Share Posted November 27, 2022 Wildsmith 8 - saved us second half Rooney 6 - steady - Only taken off for system change Dobbin 7 - Able to carry the ball, makes a big difference Forsyth 7 - Decent job Cashin 7 - Always throws his body on the line Smith 6 - Doing the best he can in unfamiliar position Knight 6 - Cant wait to have him back starting Thompson 6 - Tidy unlucky to get taken off Barkhuizen 7 - Gives us more drive and energy Bird 7 - Kept things ticking in second half Hourihane 6 - Went about job quietly Sibley 8 - Goal and assist, always worry about him defending though but we dont have to many other options! Constantly lost the ball. Might have slightly redeemed his performance with a goal, but a woeful attempted finish. Forsyth 5.5 I want him back at left back. Did his best out of position, but got caught out too often in the centre, and some poor distribution. Cashin 6 Never hides. His strength is how involved in the game he is. Gradually improved after a very poor start. Smith 6 Feel for him out of position. Knight 6 Glad to see him on the pitch. Thompson 6 A little better than early season, but still too keen to pass backwards. Barkhuizen 6.5 Glad to see him on the pitch and a few decent moments. Bird 6 Was he on the pitch? Hardly saw him. He does a great job of marking himself. Hourihane 4.5 Saw him too much, constantly choosing the wrong option and giving the ball away, or hoofing it without looking. Sibley 7.5 Saved us with a lovely goal and a lovely assist, despite being woefully out of position. Collins 6 It was always going to be a battle and he's a battler. McGoldrick 6.5 Mixed performance. He's quite selfish, but when we've been shot shy for so long that's not always terrible. Osula 6 Didn't get into the game, but at least their defenders knew he was on the pitch. Struggled a little with Newport's physical approach, but unlucky to be substituted. Dobbin. 6.5. Helped to stretch the game, but needs more time at finishing school. Forsyth. 6.5 Unusually ruffled in the first half, improved in the second. Cashin. 6.5. See Forsyth. His willingness to overlap is important. Smith. 5.5. As with Rooney, he looked uncomfortable. Targeted by Newport for a bit of a kicking early on. Knight. 6. Good to see him back on the pitch. Doesn't take any s*** from anyone. Thompson. 6. I thought he was one of the better performers first half and unlucky to be substituted at HT. Barkhuizen. 7. Movement and running made him a threat. A positive sub. Bird. 6.5. Another who was better than he's being given credit for. Some smart tackles and expansive passing. Hourihane. 5. Awful first half, better in the second when the game became stretched. Should be told to stay out of Bird's personal space. Sibley. 7.5. High mark for his match winning contributions, but defensively he put us in danger a number of times. If he has to play as a LWB again, he must take greater care with the ball. Collins. 6. Ran his socks off, but will be disappointed with himself for fluffing a very good chance. McGoldrick. 7. A little indecisive at times, but was at the heart of our better play and scored the winner with a clever header. Osula. 6. Not much chance to shine but kept the Newport defence busy.
