We need (in an ideal world)

An out and out pacey Right wingback and a left wing back.

We need another pacey winger to replace NML when Injured or to play opposite wing because unfortunately I don't think Barks possesses the same threat.

We need a midfield general to do the dirty work in CDM. Beilik would be perfect, but can't see him coming back now.

And a striker. Preferably an out and out target man because Collins has done ok, but he's not really a target man, he doesn't have pace to take players on, and when playing on his own he tends to be quite isolated.

This is just my opinion, but above all, wing back signings are vital. It also allows smith to play in midfield which itself will be like a new signing.

In the Championship Norwich have just sacked their manager whilst in 5th place, Swansea City in 16th place are one of 12 teams only 3 points behind Norwich.

Burnley and Sheffield United seem well clear which leaves 14 clubs with a dream of the promised land (sound familiar) with some rather large egos masquerading as club chairman amongst that lot with their fans looking for a bit of fresh blood to boost their promotion push.

………..personally if Knight, Cashin, Bird and Sibley are still here at the end of January then I’d be absolutely chuffed!

I’d agree but would want traditional full backs rather than wing backs. I think the back four suits us far better.

add another wide option and a striker and I’d be happy.

Marriott averaging 1 in 3 mostly at championship level since going back.  3 in 5 starts this season.  Personally, i'd be happy to have him as an option  for 18 months. Especially if we actually played to his strengths in a two rather than drifting him out wide constantly up top on his own.  Only issue would be if he's still getting 5 games then an injury.

Marriott had/has a talent both for football and Golf/socialising, Pretty sure Lampard said he had an attitude of sorts and that's why he didn't start at Wembley, He put on a shed load of weight when at the Owls

Plenty of footballers over decades have had the same problem...Remember the Greenwood and Foden debacle, One has become an exceptional footballer the other...well the stories out there ?

Shane Nicholson got himself mixed up with the wrong uns in Derby...Marriott has wasted what he had...wine women and song ?

I did feel rather relieved when he fluffed that chance when wildsmith gave him the ball earlier in the season.

why has he not made it?

i think he’s probably a knob.

he will always be a bit of a legend for that goal against the dirties.

Knee deep in lockdown I was queuing up behind him at Tesco Long Eaton, he was just coming back from injury I believe. I was a bit star struck, posted a candid pic on Facebook.

When he got up to the shop floor the first thing he did was put a crate of Corona into his trolley.

That told me everything I needed to know about how and why his Derby career was going down the pan.

I would be happy if we had them all under a nice three year contract myself

I'm expecting quite a lot of movement. Purely guessing, but something like:

OUT:
Roberts
Anang
Davies
Knight

IN:
CB
RB
Winger
Striker

I don’t think Roberts will be going unless Brighton want him to, whilst we are paying Anyang wages I suspect but he won’t be playing either ( hopefully) And we need the captain and knight if we want to be promoted by any means available ( now Chester I don’t think we need and probably not Stearman at this point)

in - centre forward who scores and a spare wideman and a right back - not easy finding the centre forward we need I suspect

Just had a quick look at championship right backs who are out of contract in the summer and there are three “out of favour” players who all played under Warne at Rotherham.

Josh Emmanuel (Hull)

Darnell Fisher (Boro)

Matthew Olusunde (Preston)

Certainly could be seen as potential options as players who clubs wish to offload…
