  1. Understood - all I am saying is that the higher level you play at, the harder it is to look like quality. I’m just saying if Ebou was playing against the quality that DPFG was playing against, his technique would not appear as good. I’d wager the worst Derby player you have seen would be virtually impossible to dispossess by us mere mortals…
  2. Having scoured the European Leagues on transfermarkt for players on expiring contracts, I would look to see if Erik Exposito at Slask Wrocław was a possibility. He’s probably played himself into a higher level than we can afford now, but is a striker who is out of contract and is tall, mobile and scores goals… (disclaimer: opinion based purely on stats and highlights reels)
  3. I think you’re doing Darryl Powell a disservice. In his one season as a division 2 player for us he was dominating the midfield with van der Laan. You’re comparing division 3 Ebou to division 1 Darryl. In division 3, Powell would have been a huge standout.
  4. In fairness, Port Vale should be battling for every point at this stage, and we managed a total of 1 point against Shrewsbury!
  5. Excellent marketing video by Brackley!
  6. Rammstein played Coventry’s ground the other year. Fantastic, it was, too!
  7. I have 79 right now, but have seen nearer to 120 grounds with old and overseas grounds…
  8. I remember going to John Harkes’ last game, which was at Pompey (I think!). Lasted about 30 mins on the pitch and was then subbed off and never played again. There’s another player I have little to no time for!
  9. I think the issue is that everyone is there because they are supporting Derby - that is the common ground that unites us. To a football crowd, music is subjective (and, in fairness, I don’t care what they play before and after the game) meaning that what someone likes is anathema to someone else. For instance, I love music and I love football, just not together. I really like Drone Corpse Aviator by Archspire, however I also appreciate that many others do not. Why should that be blasted over the speakers when we score? (It shouldn’t)
  10. Goal music is something I really hate. One usually gets the initial bit of passion and enjoyment of the celebration before the crappy music comes in and pours water on it. It usually curtails my celebration and I would gladly see it consigned to the depths of history. It’s just too much like forced “fun”, which is another thing I can’t find time for.
  11. I have two complimentary tickets for the North Stand going free to anyone that wants them.
  12. Not sure I understand getting both Wilson and Fields. That said, they’re both cheap short term deals, but could get expensive the season after. However, with Arthur Smith calling the plays, neither will prosper.
  13. Yep - they are at it again. Profiteering at another club in financial trouble’s expense. Really starting to despise that club.
  14. Wilson going to the Steelers. Still think that the Falcons are being leveraged for more cash from the Vikings for Cousins.
  15. Towards the end of the season, stats go out the window, as teams at the bottom start scrapping for their lives and those in mid-table begin to start thinking about their holidays. Just focus on ourselves and get as many points as possible.
  16. Right. Chiefs win! time to get 3 hours sleep before work!
  17. Nelson, NML and Collins are all ex-Cardiff. Maybe it’s a good sign for Adams! (I’m clutching at straws here!)
  18. I fear there is too much expectation on Dejaune Brown. Some people appear to be expecting him to walk into the side and play at a level he has never been near to before. Yes, he’s a prospect, but when we’re looking at a very raw player, we have to nurture him and that is why sending him out on loan to Gateshead is beneficial for him in the longer term. If he was up to the level that we’re looking at, I would expect him to have had more time on our bench, and the fact that he got 13 mins off the bench on Saturday means he’s still got some development to go.
  19. The way I see it is that we’re in a game of chicken with Charlton. They know he’s leaving and want the biggest fee they can get. We know he’s leaving and want to pay as little as possible. The closer we get to transfer deadline day will be the closer those two values come together - and whoever stands their ground longer benefits if the other team caved in first. Or both teams effectively lose out.
  20. That’s fine - however, it would be much more suitable that if we own a player’s contract, we should continue to pay their wages whilst they are receiving their development during their secondment to their temporary club. One could even argue that the parent club should pay a training fee for their employees development. You could argue they pay £x per match they play based on the level of opponent (e.g, if they play a side in Div 2, they pay a greater development fee than for a Div 4 side). That would help sustain the smaller clubs and potentially make teams consider whether to just hoover up all the talent.
  21. Next year, we’ll be seeing many more disruptions to the 3pm kick off time, with 10 of the 36 games being moved for TV purposes…
  22. Any promotion will do me! After Colchester, we’re the longest running team without a promotion, in the football league.
  23. At the deadline day, I would have been ok with selling him for 4 million, but now I don’t think we should let him go. He’s become so integral to our recent form, that it’d be awful to lose him now. If we get promotion, then we should be looking at getting him to extend his contract.
