That's just a write up of that 5Live video I posted:

"I was going into the shops with my daughters and the manager or shall I say, Liam, rang me," he said. "I thought I am paying for something so I'll get out of the shop and ring him back. By the time I went to call him back, he'd messaged the lads and just said 'Thanks for all your efforts guys but I won't be your manager'. There was obviously a nice heartfelt message from him saying that he wasn't going to be given the job.

"At the time, I had no idea who it was going to be. As the captain, I contacted Stephen Pearce, the CEO, and just asked if we could get a conversation just so I can fill in my team-mates and kind of have an idea of what is going on. Before Stephen came back to me, I got a text from Shaun Barker, a former team-mate of Paul Warne, who told me that the gaffer wanted to speak to me..."

So what's the problem with Shaun Barker?

No. It was Curtis saying after Rosenior told him he wasn't the manager anymore he didn't know who was. Then he got a text from Barker...

no. He didn't say 'anymore' He said he wasn't going to be the next manager. This is because he wasn't the manager. He was the interim manager.

He hasn't been sacked, He wasn't appointed.

What?

Who said Rosenior was sacked?

Why should he be the one telling Curtis about the new manager?

That sounds like the players and LR knew a decision would be made in this international break

For what it is worth.

I have a life long friend, who is now retired, but in his working life had connections to both Rotherham and Derby plus several other clubs in the Midlands, Yorkshire and Lancashire. He is a Derby season ticket holder now and I meet him at every home game. I met him before the Wycombe game and we never discussed the managerial situation at all.

On Wednesday, when the news broke about Warne and Rosenior, he texted me verbatim the following:

'Hi - message I had last Thursday but didn't believe it !!'

The Thursday message verbatim was:

'Evening, I have have just had a call from a source closely connected to Paul Warne of Rotherham and he was told that he has signed a contract to be Rams manager. Obviously this is out of the blue and in some respects beggars belief.'

I watched the players appreciation of the crowd at the end of the Wycombe game but I did not pick up on the observation of many that LR applauded all four sides of the ground. Many interpreted it as a parting gesture. Because of my lifelong relationship with my friend and the trust we have between us I fully believe the context of his message to me.

While I would loosely interpret that two or three days before the Wycombe game, but soon after the Lincoln defeat, Paul Warne had not signed a contract with Derby County, but had probably reached an agreement to join them, subject to a suitable agreement between the two clubs, then Liam Rosenior will probably have been aware that he would not be the permanent manager before we played Wycombe.

And in the circumstances WTF shouldn't he be?

He is employed by Rams TV. He is a loyal servant of the club and he was merely brokering a quick connection between the new head coach and the club captain. Perfectly reasonable in my opinion.

Style of football doesn’t bother me, particularly if we’re droning on about ‘attractive’ football

It doesn’t matter how it looks and I should be clear that the doesn’t mean defensive, scrappy 1-0’s are what get me out of bed in the morning

What you need to be truly successful and entertain the fans is to score loads of goals

If we do that with a team of lads all over 6’2 playing longball or with a bunch of Tom Carroll’s and Max Bird’s hogging 70% of possession every week, we’ll all bloody love it

A quick look at Rotherham’s league finishes under Warne shows they consistently scored more goals than the teams around them when they were promoted AND when they were relegated.

Big fan of Rosenior but never managing to get one of McGoldrick or Collins consistently starting and scoring is part of why he’s gone.

Don’t give a toss how anyone does it at this point, if Warne gets them scoring no one else will either

It’s seemed a heck of a long time over perhaps the last 3 years supporting a team that scores so few goals relative to our peers; wherever we have been in league. It’s the single issue that has eaten at me as a fan. If Warne changes that and we are at the right end of the table then in most senses, I’ll be happy. What has been frustrating is that I know we have had and have players with goals in their armoury but somehow that fundamental has got lost in a lot of theory and over coaching. (IMO ?

I think we have just been too predictable.  Sit off and defend, then counter.

It is a reasonably effective home strategy, but travel to the delightful grounds of this season and you are going to struggle.

Definitely been through a roller coaster of emotions on this during the week. I was extremely disappointed Liam didn’t get the job, even more disappointed they gave it to a League 1 specialist long ball merchant in what I thought was a knee jerk short sighted move.

After a few days of sleeping on it and doing my research into Paul Warne, I remain gutted for Liam and think we’ve lost a good one who could take us all the way to the premier league and I’m sure he will do really well elsewhere. But I have a warm fuzzy feeling about the potential future under Warne.

He isn’t necessarily the long ball merchant I thought, he seems to be someone who adapts to what he has. He’s driven ambitious and I love the fact he’s already talking to key players about wanting to get to the premier league. He’s likeable and will absolutely give his heart and soul to the cause. I hope for his own self preservation he keeps a bit of distance between himself and the club, but I’m not sure that’s really his way. This will be a tough unforgiving gig compared to his previous jobs but he wants to test himself and if he gets it right, he could be a hero and he’s the sort of character that would want to see it through to conclusion on principle and not flutter his eyelids at the next job.

His record at this level is unrivalled and I really look forward to seeing how he gets on.

As for Clowes, I was hasty to compare this to a Mel appointment. He’s given himself time he’s been considered and Warne is the man he clearly thinks will take us to where we want to be. He deserves our backing. Reading the minutes from the supporters meeting I’m really with what’s happening off the field for the first time in years.

Bring it on!!!! ????????

At least with Rosenior-ball, you could see what needed to improve to turn it into good football (bit more movement, bit more tempo, bit more clinical in front of goal, bit more care with final balls etc).  At least the intent to play good football was there, and the improvements needed were relatively minor IMO.  Rowett-ball will always be terrible to watch, it’s terrible by design.

I do agree but think we have thought that through Cocu, Rooney and Rosenior where at times for each there were spells where you thought  now we're getting there with this and so i wonder if the improvements needed to turn the play into good football on a consistent basis were more difficult than it seems with the players available through these difficult last few years due to injury, suspensions at key times, players we couldnt renew at key times, etc. Feel a bit flat about it really especially as was enjoying the stability of a low key manager just working with his team and no drama. Wasnt perfect but realistically it couldnt be this season and was enjoying it mainly so far (but cant go away!)

I was more than happy with Liam Rosenoir as our manager, interim or otherwise. I believe he would have got this bunch of players purring, he seemed to have respect from all of them, the kids from the academy as well as the more experienced pros who he signed recently.

I have no doubt whatsoever that we would have been a proper contender for promotion, I was genuinely looking forward to this team gelling and starting to perform while seeing Liam grow into the role.  He will be a top Manager one day.

It is what it is. Mr. Clowes has made his call and I will be behind Paul Warne from the first match. In fact, I'll be arguing to give him more time when some of us who wanted Liam gone will want Warne gone if we don't win every match.

Fckn love Derby, Fckn love Derby,?♥️
