Roos- 3 Really bad. Distribution was terrible, had no presence in his box yet again. Need someone else in goal ASAP. 

Byrne- 6 Was decent at the start but his positioning was so so poor. I know it’s part of our game to play the fullbacks up high but both Birmingham goals were scored on his side of the pitch and he was nowhere to be seen. 

Buchanan- 6 Messed up for the first goal but at times seemed like our only player who wanted to make something happen. A couple of great runs and positive passes unfortunately cancelled out by a terrible backpass. 

Jagielka- 6 Thought he tried his best but his age really showed tonight. Just struggled to keep up with Birmingham at times. 

Davies- 5 He’s been great so far this year but this was a really weird performance from him. At times his positioning and defensive work just seemed very lazy. Think he just had an off game. 

Shinnie- 6 He wasn’t terrible or anything in the first half. He was fine. Nothing bad nor nothing good to say about him. Maybe if he’d stayed he’d have injected some more energy into the team but on the flipside maybe he’d have gotten sent off. 

Bird- 5 At times he showed his natural ability but tonight he was just very negative and ultimately didn’t affect the game at all. 

Morrison- 3 Dreadful performance, dreadful attitude. Needs to realise he’s not too good for the championship, attempted to run the entire length of the pitch twice and got easily tackled which a better team than Birmingham would’ve capitalised on. 

Sibley- 4 Poor from Sibbo tonight. Might as well not have been on the pitch he was that anonymous. 

Lawrence- 5 Another poor performance. Not sure what he did that was any good other than one shot straight at their keeper. When was the last time he scored a free kick? Also was being a twit all night, not setting a great example as captain so far. 

Baldock- 5 Oh yeah he was playing. Gets a customary five for just showing up.

Roos - 3                        Terrible. Can't catch and can't use his feet. Only thing he has going for him is shot stopping ability

Byrne - 4                       Quiet. struggled a lot physically. Every time he got over halfway, gave the ball away. 

Buchanan - 5                Same as usual, decent going forward, not so good defensively

Jagielka - 5                   First game he has actually looked 39 years old. 

Davies - 6                     Average.

Shinnie - 5                    Not involved too much, probably subbed off for the yellow card.  

Bird - 6                          Looked to pass forward when possible, but no one available most times. 

Morrison - 5                  Some good moments. Gave the ball away a lot, got frustrated. Looked like a red card waiting to happen. 

Sibley - 4                      Very quiet. Struggled to make an impact, but was being played out of position again

Lawrence - 4               1 or 2 good moments on the rare occasion we upped the tempo, but overall poor. Would have been sent off if wasn't subbed. Annoyed me when he kept laughing with their defenders even though we're losing the game. Nothing he did on the pitch was good captain material.

Baldock - 4                  Decent pressing first half. One chance in 2nd half which he messed up. Overall very quiet.

Stretton - 5                  Tried hard. Battled away, made some decent runs, but struggled physically.

Roos 3 - he is frightening…so bad 

Byrne - 7 - thought he was just about the best player we had…

Buchanan - 6.5 decent

Jagielka -6 if 6 is average then 6 It is

Davies - see Jagielka

Shinnie - see Davies

Bird - 7 he is going to be a great player 

Morrison - 5 worst game so far for us 

Sibley - 3 same old same old rubbish

Lawrence - 3 captain.? Seriously  rubbish

Baldock - 5 poor but to be fair Zero service

 

as I wrote them I realised I could probably have wrote them before the kick off and wouldn’t have been far off.

Morrison 6 - not effective but at least he wanted the ball. Needs to learn from Chong how to react when repeatedly fouled.

Stretton 5

First time I thought they looked like a team whose club is in crisis. Maybe it’s starting to get to them and they’re thinking what’s the point if any points we get are going to be struck off?

Wow some seriously negative ratings. I didn’t think it was that bad, they just have a bit more than we do and think they might threaten top 6 this season.

Roos - 5 - Excellent early on but distribution got worse as game went on and really put us under pressure.

Byrne - 7 - tactics caused second goal. 

Jagielka - 6

Davies - 6

Shinnie - 5

Bird - 7 - our best player again

Morrison - 6 - need to think about where to play him, personally think he affects game better in a two and thrives on more defensive responsibility, needs to do more if he’s playing 10.

Sibley - 5 - couldn’t get in the game

Lawrence - 6.5 - when we did have good spells in the game he was at the heart of it, decision making and use of the ball is much better, didn’t he also have both our two shots on target - I’m adding balance to some of the ridiculously low ratings he’s been given that cannot be based purely on his performance last night 

Baldock - 5 - No service though

Stretton - 5 - like Baldock no service 

 

Rooney - 5 - we can’t play the perfect championship style tactics like Brum who have more squad options, I like the way he’s going about it and it can get the best out of this squad but needs tweaking, pushing both full backs on so high away from home when brum are playing 2 up is asking a lot of two centre halves at the end of their careers. Even just pushing one full back forward last night would’ve helped.

Roos - 6  - A mixed bag. Other than the goals, and fighting off Brum players at long-throws, didn't have allot to do, but faffed about too often when in possession. Had no luck with either goal. 

Byrne - 6 - good for 1st 1/2 hr, but pushed up too far, too often afterwards. Kudos for fronting up to the Birmingham Ronaldo. 

Buchanan - 6.5 blind backpass spoiled an otherwise decent performance. Crossing needs work. 

Jagielka - 5.5 - least assured performance so far, but will probably need a brain scan by next Sunday, so deserves sympathy. 

Davies - 5 - see Jagielka. 

Shinnie - 4 - unlucky to be 1st booking for something Brum players were doing from the off. Sensible sub by Rooney. 

Bird - 6 - good for an hour, but pressure from Brum eventually reduced his effectiveness. 

Morrison - 6 - clearly targeted by Brum, no protection or even fair treatment from the officials, did well not to chin that little ginger nob, Woods. 

Sibley - 5 - another one targeted for rough treatment by Mr Sausage, made some good runs 1st half, but missed decent chance after Lawrence's shot was saved 2nd half and faded. 

Lawrence - 4 - yep, another targeted for winding up, reacted badly as expected and largely anonymous, though did at least test the keeper. 

Baldock - 4 - game pressing and running, but a tough ask for him against 3 brutes and again made wrong decision when opportunities arose. 

Stretton - 7 - didn't back down from intimidation, gave Brum at least something to think about. Terrific temperament. Be patient with this lad. 

Knight - 5 - good to have him back in contention. Little chance to make an impression here. 

Williams - 6 - wants to play, wants the ball even at 2-0 down. Another good prospect. 

Referee - 1 - he gets 1 point solely for not overreacting/not seeing the alleged elbow by Lawrence and Morrison's handball (though I think he was fouled first). Other than that, standard EFL ref, gave us nothing and didn't punish repeated barges, pulls, pushes, studs-showing challenges and deliberate provocation. Useless.
