The Great Gatsby (2013)

Before watching this I had no idea what it was about my expectations of it were far removed from the actual film itself. I have to say I quite enjoyed it. I'm intrigued to watch the original now to see how it compares. Has anyone seen both and if so how do they stack up? 8/10

The Conjuring

I like horror films but never got into this series ( and spin offs) so thought I would give it a go as its so huge.

What surprised me was how unsurprising it was! Virtually every cliché in the book. Unoriginal and fairly so so. Good cast.. well directed, so I have seen a lot worse, just don't get what sets it apart from so many other films. 6/10

The Red Turtle

Beautifully simplistically drawn. Basic story is of a man stranded on a desert island, with lots of space to explore deeper meaning. No dialogue but you really don't notice. Have to be in the mood to relax and reflect on life.

8/10

For some reason I'd not seen Quantum of Solace until yesterday. Strange but it is a lot shorter than most Bond films. Would have been better if they could have extended it. Daniel Craig really has made this role his own and will be missed after the next one which is his last. 7.5/10

Of all the Craig 'Bond films', this was the one I was happy was the shortest, and was probably still too long. It was supposed to answer the questions from the end of Casino Royale. Instead it set up a lot of new situations and asked more questions, did not answer any of the ones from Casino Royale, and the conclusion was poor and dissatisfying. The newest Bond should be good though, as the newest 4 have had a pattern of good, poor, good, poor so far.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

The worst film I've ever had the misfortune of spending 2hrs and 3 minutes of my life watching. Only made it through as the remote was just out of reach and was too hot to move.

Laughably bad acting throughout, terrible dialogue and sound mixing, terrible lighting, stupid 'plot', poorly directed camera work... just crap in every single way.

On a scale of Gianfranco Labarthe Tome to Benny Feilhaber this was a Bob Malcolm.

I agree with every word you said.

Plus I really hate musicals of any sort and refuse to watch Pop Idol, The Voice, BGT.

However on Sat, I was pretty drunk so on returning from the pub still high from the undeserved late equaliser.... I agreed to watch it with the missus.

It was unremittingly terrible. But you know what. I quite enjoyed it. As a homage to the cheese, pomp and sheer unbridled naffness of Eurovision it hit the spot.

If you can put aside the sheer terribleness of it, its good fun.

If you are drunk, and willing to just go with it...its the best a Will Ferrell playful skit on Eurovision was ever going to be.

I did rewatch Fallen (prime) at the weekend, two of my favourite actors (Denzel Washington and John Goodman) make it a classic, along with great cameos from James Gandolfini and Donald Sutherland!

This film is easily one of my favourites.

Poom/10

*Poom is probably my favourite player ever.

Percy gets better than he deserves

So close to being a pun setup.

If you had said "Percy gets more..." then I could have said "No, it's Percy Wetmore". That apart, he is brilliant as Billy Davis.

If anyone ever comes across a verison of Pan's Labyrinth that's dubbed into English, please let me know. As far as I can see, there isn't one available.

I love that film and am 100% certain Mrs Wolfie would too, but she flatly rejects anything subtitled.

I really don't think I am a film snob, so apologies for saying this but... I really really hope not. Feel queasy thinking about that.

Oh I agree & love the film as it is. Just that she's such a stubborn bugger & is missing out on one of the best films out there.
