After Squid Game, which I found a very tough watch, I needed something lighter. I discovered Only Murders In The Building. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez in a parody of the true crime podcast genre that has been so popular in recent years.

Some episodes are a bit hit and miss, but taking the series overall, it's more hit than miss, and the finale is well worth the wait delivering  full-on farce and some real belly-laughs.

Find it on Disney+

Rewatched Squid Game with one of the kids, and have to say I really found very little to enjoy on 2nd viewing. All the annoying aspects were amplified and it really grated having kinda enjoyed it first time.

With the new season/reboot of Dexter incoming,  I am rewatching the lot. Great show,  with so much to enjoy, be it...the acerbic voice-over,  the scenery,  the characters, the snappy dialogue etc.  On season 2 and I had forgotten quite how hot Lila was. Bit of unhinged but highly sexual and attractive love interest never goes amiss.

Storyville: The Great Hip Hop Hoax on iPlayer. Very good watch, even for someone who had little interest in that music genre. Just shows how far you can go if you just go balls out and how much people will believe if it is in their interest to do so.

Wheel Of Time on Prime on 19th November.

If you've read the books then that's great news because the books are epic

If you haven't then that's great news because the books are many, heavy and have lots of really annoying bits in an otherwise Tolkien arse kicking exercise

I must admit I enjoyed Ridley Road on the good old BBC.

After a few disappointing dramas, this recreation of a true-life story about the rise of the National Socialist (think Nazi) movement in 1962 was well done.

Always difficult to get young, fresh-faced actors to look like authentic sixties characters but the story carried a good degree of suspense.

Agnes O’Casey is very good in the lead role as a young women who infiltrates the movement alongside her boyfriend and tries to expose their true intentions.

Rory Kinnear nice and sinister as Colin Jordan the party leader and Eddie Marsan, in my mind one of our finest actors, believable as the cabbie businessman fronting the Jewish resistance.

Frightening to think there was a Fascist movement 17 years after we fought to defeat precisely that.

Recently stumbled across the Annika series on Alibi channel.

Apparently from a Radio 4 production orignally and starring Nicola Walker as the lead detective.

It's a fairly light murder detective series set in Scotland but what I love is the natural and witty script - with people actually talking to each other like they might in real life. The main character sometimes breaking the 4th wall to talk to camera was distracting for a short while but even that is usually to share a sarcastic comment or just a look.

Enjoyable & entertaining. 8/10

Eddie Marsan is a superb actor - brilliant in Ray Donovan

Oats Studios on netflix. Scifi/horror short studio promotion films. I am part way through. Rakka stars Sigourney Weaver. Zygote is good.

Blitzed this in one sitting - some good, some not so but enjoyed the concept.  Something similar, but better is Love, Death & Robots, especially Season 1 (also on Netflix), although these are more complete stories.

Finding Jack Charlton was a surprisingly warm watch - I lived in Newcastle when he was manager (he took over from Sarge) and it's fair to say he wasn't exactly my cup of tea. But it was interesting to understand the way he infuenced Irish culture and even the peace process. Also, never knew the bit about the relationship with Bobby.

Stumbled across Mayans MC on Disney+. It’s a spin-off from Sons of Anarchy. Finished S1. Quite good.

That's 1 out of 10 isn't it? This is the second time this has happened, I would ask we don't do it a third time (or a Chris Powell, to make the point - rather better than I expected).

I am preparing a strongly worded post to the 'Things people do that annoys me' thread on this topic.
