Could you not take it to a body like CAS. Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Not sure how that all works but they seem to be where many go if you believe the sports regulator to be wrong

I think that depends on that "player of professional standing" clause. I read we are talking to the EFL about it

I think that there is a lot of negativity over Davies' potential contribution on here, if he stays.
He actually made 13 appearances last season, including one in the league cup. He suffered that bad injury, which I thought would finish his career at his age but definitely would put him out until next season. It says something about his physical and mental strengths, that he managed to return to help out in that crucial final game.
Now let's look at what he can offer the team for next season, he's too slow, but wasn't Darren Moore even slower? Moore showed that experience can carry you a long in that position in this league, during our promotion year. I think that Davies and Mengi could prove to be a decent partnership in the centre of defence.

Looking at the squad list realistically we need 4 cb's, 2 cm's, 2 or 3 centre forwards and 1 or 2 wingers. That's an absolutely huge task that sits in front of us considering how close we are to the pre-season. I know lampard brought in players late but this is a task of a whole other order. I'd be comforted by Pearce's words if the running of the club hadn't turned into such a shambles in recent years but since it has I'm waiting for actions to happen as opposed to statements.

In our current state I don't know why anyone would sign for us if they have any sort of alternative. We have a recent incident of unpaid wages, nobody knows who the owner is going to be, the EFL are determined to see us relegated one way or another.
Having Rooney show them around Pride Park isn't going to suddenly make all of that go away.

Well we have a journalistic fan at the Athletic who could at least start writing that alternative narrative and investigating EFL action against clubs. There are also those other clubs allegedly under embargo for following official advice on delaying accounts due to COVID but now against EFL unchanged rules. How can they not match government guidance during a global pandemic? Problem is proper investigative journalism is dying out in favour of regurgitating social media posts and hype dressed up as journalism. People are more interested in whether Grealish will move than the way in which the body governing the majority of the nation's football teams is being run. Any journalism students out there needing a meaty summer hols project?

No experience whats so ever , butttttttttttt cant help feel there is a sensible young bloke who commands respect and would do things quietly and rightly ( a bit like Nigel son of god Clough ) .
Would a complete reset in the division below be such a bad thing lets clear out all the bloody lot .The chairman who has got us into this pickle, get rid of rooney , and most of the players who quite frankly are not good enough .
My gut is saying Davies is going to become an excellent young manager and he wants to stay at the club .Sometimes when your at the bottom , it might not seem as bad as it is and who knows the EFL and their major player ( steve im going to get morris gibson ) might be doing us a real favour in the long term .

Exactly. If the EFL had questioned the method in the first season we did it, we would have resubmitted then. At worst it would have been a one season blip and an earlier change to slightly more prudent trading than happened.
I am incredulous that the EFL has not been questioned and highlighted about this by the so-called independent journalists who report on these matters. They just seem content to jump on the EFL anti-Derby bandwagon. Puppets!

As someone who has followed the Miami Heat for about 15+ years, I will agree with some of this. He is a good owner, and he certainly tries to attract big names to the franchise, but he certainly doesn't do it himself. Pat Riley is the man they rely on to attract the big stars, and this is helped by the Miami location and tax breaks, etc. Riley was the one who got Lebron in, for instance, along with with D Wade's help. Miami have also had a number of lean years, never the worst team but certainly outside of a real chance at the playoffs. Even least season, when they reached the finals, was seen as fortunate as they seemed to be the team that adjusted the bubble the best.
All this doesn't mean that Arison wouldn't be a good owner. He does like to employ competent, ambitious people. He backs them to make a big splash. He expects results but has a sense of realism too so wont be trigger happy. Should give any manager/coaching team time to put their plans in place.

Most mega rich people don't get rich by throwing money away.
Come and buy Derby County - of you do this is what you face:
    - £10-£15 Million annual loss at the moment
    - Massive Cash Flow Issues
    - Legal bill to pay out to a former employee of £2.3 Million
    - EFL Legal proceeding has been lost - awaiting punishment, worst case but unlikely relegation, realistically - a fine, A harsh punishment - points deduction for this coming season
    - A possible future punishment if newly presented accounts show us not to be in line with P&S
    - A business that is two years late publishing accounts
    - A playing squad in need of serious investment, investment that you cannot make because of P&S
    - A Playing squad that's actually just short of man power generally
    - an impending season where 15,000 ST's have already been sold for last season - the cash flow taken last year but the sales probably pushed into this season
    - Reduced Crowd Numbers before a Pandemic hit
    - A Global Pandemic with uncertainty on crowd attendances
    - A stadium that due to the Pandemic is probably 80% down on commercial revenue
    - You have a CEO in place but no COO (As Morris would leave) or CFO

But on the plus side, if you can fix all of the above, without throwing money at it, you could in a few years reach the promised land where one season can 'fix' you financially. Own a stadium asset which in the longer run, with the correct decisions could become a massively important asset to the city of Derby.
Anyway, I don't think I'm going to get a sales job selling the club with the above.

As ever, its a question of context. Looking purely at Jozwiak's output without it, you would be disappointed with his contribution last season. He did struggle to provide quality, got easily frustrated & his decision making wasn't always the best. There were glimpses of his potential quality though, he retains possession very well & no-one could question his workrate or defensive discipline.
Can't think of many harder gigs than being a young lad moving to another country in the middle of a pandemic, into matches with no fans, into a team that struggled horribly all season & with an inexperienced management team to help him. He also got precious little help with the team selections, often being one of only 3 attack minded players in the side (when we went 3-4-3) & hence got even more attention from defenders in our notoriously tough division.
In a good, attacking side he'd be very good & part of me hopes he gets a really good move off the back of this tournament. Clearly I'd rather he stayed with us & tore the division up but the reality is he could fetch good money & he can't be that enthused returning for another season at the fag end of the Championship playing dismal football. To contradict some on here, he's actually too good for us.

Albania are a fairly decent side, with some players who regularly grace sides in the top divisions of Italy, Turkey and some other lesser countries.  Admittedly, they lost Loric Cana to retirement which was a blow for them, but they’re far from also-rans.
They would cope with the championship with no bother...

I guess it depends on how full your glass is. I agree with you that the EFL appeal will not be season limiting, whatever that is, for next year. I am in no doubt we will be in a perfectly fine position to set out our stall with the same aim next season (be that survival or promotion) as we did without it. I think relegation is as much of a threat as it was - the side now is weakened even from the one that played against the Wendies so something does need to change in that aspect, but we have time. I don't think 'nobody wants to buy us' but I do think you've maybe missed out two pretty big inihibitors - one being there being someone willing to invest in any football club in these turbulent times. So much is unclear about future revenue streams that it is going to be a punt for anyone and while many businesspeople have made a lot of money selling PPE contracts there are also a lot of others who will be running businesses that have suffered - particularly if they are already in this space. Second factor is what value we, specifically, offer at the price Mel is willing to sell at. Nobody really knows the answer to that but it is, quite literally, multi-million pound question. And it is linked to the debt associated with the club, again very few people really know what that looks like but all the rumours (and credible ones) suggest it is horrid. My thing that I'm getting quite bored of (and I'm not saying you are one btw) is the 'but we're Derby, we've got a great stadium, we won the league forty years ago, people must be queuing up to buy this wonderful club. And if it costs them £20 or £30m over market price well that's fine - they're rich, they don't need it' sort of approach. So, in conclusion and like most things, we're probably a lot closer than we give each other credit for - it's just how full your glass is that seperates us a bit.

Got to agree with you there. I felt like the interview after the last game "things need to change from tonight" was him priming the narrative and telling the club that he needs resources or he is gone.
Can't blame him tbh, having less than half a squad of mostly youngsters and then probably being told you have to sell the best and probably only sigh cheap/free replacements doesn't sound like an ideal first management job ?

I think there are some misunderstandings on that count. He does not appear to have claimed the backing that the press have alluded to. It could be that their understanding was manipulated through social media, however. He has though stated unequivocally that he has £150 million of his own money to invest in Derby but even if that proves not to be the true, I'm not sure there's any 'case' to answer. His links to certain unsavoury individuals and the similarities between this attempt to take control of Derby and that of another club* are quite disturbing, so what would have happened had his bid succeeded is very much open to debate.
What does seem clear is that very little due diligence, if any, is being undertaken in the assessment of potential buyers prior to contracts being agreed, which is worrying enough in its own right. Even relatively simple 'background checks' would surely have raised a few flags so the fact that an in principle agreement was reached pending EFL approval poses some quite uncomfortable questions.
