  1. In a time like this we need stability somewhere and Wayne Rooney is showing that in abundance

Talking about our future whether points deducted or in a lower division he is talking like he wants to be here and is going to be here.....I've criticised Rooney previously but one thing is sure.....he really is showing what a good leader he is and is conducting himself brilliantly.

In the post match interview he seemed genuinely choked talking about the club and that means a lot to me......

Lets please ( including myself ) cut this man a bit of slack when its needed and it will be as he's doing a great job and Rio pointed out how he was so good on the training ground last week when observed our training.

He deserves our full support especially in the next few weeks/months....lets let him know as fans we appreciate his hard work and  he's still learning to be a manager.......my opinion of him has gone up massively.....he talks like he's here for the long haul and under the current circumstances just shows his character when we need someone to steady the ship  in a time of need Rooney is saying he's going nowhere...massive credit to him......I'm glad he's here and our manager

  2. So multi millionaire Morris walks away because he says its costing him every month whilst canteen staff, academy staff, cleaners etc etc will now worry they can't pay there mortgage next month......such a top bloke ......it makes my blood boil to think we sang his praises thinking his stewardship and fact he was a fan would make us trust in whatever he done for DCFC......?

I wouldn't say spending £1.3m - £1.5m per month is seen as close to being sustainable

yes but considering our glorious owner mentioned that figure I don't believe a word he says ...he got us in this mess through bad management from the top....no excuses.....he is the owner yet takes us into admin......a total disgrace and wish he'd never set foot in PP....stick to silly phone games!!

  4. An actual owner and so called fan taking our club into administration.....still can't quite believe it.....no one will change or stop my love for this club but agree with a few on here that football itself seems broken and am losing interest generally in the game....its not about football anymore it seems .....i grew up loving the game when it just seemed so much more in touch with the average working class fan ....now its about money and greed and what people can take out of the game....preferred the old days with no agents no bosman ruling where clubs got a fee for a player if he was valued and more honesty in the game .....sad times for our club and hardly slept a wink last night...._?

  5. Morris says losing 1.5m a month but how is this true? our wage bill can't be massive .....don't beleive a word he says ....

Some time ago i wrote that he was never going to sell the club with what he was asking for it and guess what?? he hasn't......

Mel for me goes down as one of the worst owners we have ever had....from a well run club when Nigel Clough and the yanks kept a steady ship with many seasons of treading water with gradual improvement and a good squad of players and nearly getting promoted to..................................................... ...going into administration !!!! I mean.....IT IS A DISGRACE MR MORRIS .....all that hard work before mr ego arrived  has been undone !!!.......I think we all thought we were in good hands , a local businessman who's a fan etc etc ....but the club has been run shambolically and we as fans have been lied to and mislead....I truly feel sorry for anyone involved with our great club who is waking up this morning worrying about paying there mortgage etc....a shocking mess....such a sad day for DCFC

  6. haven’t read the rest of the thread yet but here’s my ten penneth for what it’s worth ....although ive criticised Rooney in the past there was evidence of some really good play and rotation of position and some lovely neat interchanges

we desperately lack a striker and I don’t think Stretton is yet the answer and Baldock makes good runs but in the first half showed why he’s not exactly prolific when he passed rather than shoot when in the box

saying all that we lost to a Brum team who look a solid championship side who are defensively solid with good championship defenders

now the negative part regarding Rooney ..... I just don’t get it how Lawrence is captain and tonight I thought he was very poor and was to blame for the second goal but it’s his attitude that riles me ...he is not captain material and to be honest think we are better off getting a few quid for him and using it when we are permitted to get a couple of players in ....tonight I thought Lawrence was petulant and lucky not to get another yellow card .

for the life of me I cannot understand the decision to give him the armband also in our current predicament I’d play him as a striker or not at all ...just my thoughts

This is going to be a long slog of a season.

The real worry is it might be more than just this season how do we know the club will be sold this season we don’t, and that scares the hell out of me because we are in a proper mess....I am actually struggling now to mention Mel without ill feeling and I don’t like myself for that but he doesn’t want peanuts for the club and could be a long time before all we are talking about is the game we love ...sad times indeed ?

Sibley has attacking intent but apart from one game hadn't really delivered much. Still got plenty to prove to me personally. It's all about opinion.

Agree with this I watched Sibley in under23 game and to be really honest I don't think he shone enough to suggest he is a first team regular....just my opinion of course

I'll be honest.  His fouls last season seemed to cost goals which is why they were picked up on, with me as much as anyone else.  I would imagine on average Forsyth, Byrne and Shinnie must commit more though.  Sibley won't do anything playing out wide.  As a sub he at least needs to be used centrally.  I recall him airing that frustration himself after the Brentford game last season .  Sometimes you get a player who needs to move to get games in there position.   I would rather he played a bit more here though as he seems the most useful outlet for at least getting shots on target at the minute.. The one that springs to mind was Ramage when he went to Watford for 300k and was a goal machine playing behind a striker for 3 years.

I get what you're saying but I still think that Sibley finds it very difficult to control himself and a lot of the time you're expecting the lunge or tackle before it comes, I don't remember Fozzy,Byrne or Shinnie being that predictable and they are more defensive players anyway.

There is definitely a problem there I think and i'm surprised Rooney doesn't think he can try and get that out of his game which then leads me to believe that if he truly rated him he would not have had that conversation whether he's a liability or not , there are plenty of players who needed guidance in the past

We don't really know for certain. What we do know is he's not getting much game time and when he does he's put out wide, rather than in the number 10 position that he should be. Personally I think we're wasting his talent and from where I'm sitting it looks like that's down to mismanagement by Rooney. I fear he'll end up leaving for a fraction of his true value and end up fulfilling his potential elsewhere.

Ok thankyou for reply ...Rooney could of course be right and maybe sees things we dont.....I think we do pass the ball backwards far too much and i'm all for keeping the ball etc but Sibley does seem one of the more forward thinking players

Saying that I still think his petulant tackles at times don't do him any favours

Purely guess work here but I don’t think sibley will leave to be honest. It’s true he’s been told by Rooney he’s not in the plans but it’s up to him wether he wants to go or not. He wants to play for us otherwise he wouldn’t have turned down wolves and Chelsea in the past. I fully expect him to be putting the extra yards in training and hopefully impress the doubtful wazza

Has Sibley actually been told that by Rooney ?

Well if we take a look back at Chris Martin under Cocu - I assume Cocu was told Martin wasn’t any good so he never got near the team then a mass of injuries resulted in him being on the bench and he was allowed on as a sub to the loudest ovation I have heard since Paul Goddard returned to the BBG, so Cocu got the message that this guy can play and yes he is very well liked - hopefully when Sibley gets on the pitch he gets the same types of ovation and whoever the manager is they will get the message.

So Cocu wasn't aware of Martin but was swayed by the crowd ovation....lol......ok!! never  saw him in training or anything .....

Would appear a tweet I made blew up in a way I never expected tonight as some of you saw.

Needless to say many have been blocked, no time for it.

Was never intended to be attention seeking, looking for followers or some how trying to tease fans.

There was a conversation taking place regarding the release of the minutes, thought I was being helpful by letting them know it would write ups only as no minutes were being taken. That’s it.

I was on a train with patchy 3G signal and expected to respond to a poo ton of people.

I have started the write up on my phone, well aware even more so tonight of fan frustration, just stepped off the train now, home in 20 and honestly, I’m off to bed and if that pisses more people off, so be it.

Thankyou for attending this evening David try not to worry about the mindless morons that gave you grief on twitter showing there true colours means you can block them.

I'd like to think the majority on here are grateful for you attending this evening its not like its just around the corner either so well done .

If and it is a big IF, the club is about to get new owners, maybe these new owners don't want us to waste money on new players that won't be part of their plans, just to play them in 3 or 4 games, before the sale goes through?

But to have any say on what/where we waste our money etc you'd have to be a fair way down the line I'd imagine if you're having input on what we spend etc and that statement didn't sound like any parties were

  15. What a complete state of a club we have become ...just read through the 12 pages on this thread....I just do not get how anyone can possibly have sympathy with Mr Morris when we are in such a shocking mess......debts to the HMRC are     in-excuseable !!!

Good loyal fans on here wanting answers about a club they love yet the owner will no doubt only answer questions he's comfortable with with well rehearsed answers yet we owe millions to the HMRC........

When just when we will get back to talking about the game we grew up as kids loving instead of finances and aspects of running a business that many of us will know nothing about.......I think its a total disgrace how it has come to this .......I would rather have the yanks back .........than someone who cannot genuinely face us like one of us and just be honest....I think we have all had enough of this and I'll be honest it has affected my sleep as I'm so worried this club is in deep deep trouble and much more than we can imagine as Collymore alluded to .....

  16. As good as Cashin done it was against a quite poor Notts County side for me.

But he would benefit greatly from being used alongside Jagielka or Davies in certain games as a learning process

He's definitely not the biggest and a season training and playing alongside an experienced CB will not only help his development but also take the pressure off of his young shoulders as he wont be expected to play every game

    Certainly a good prospect though

One incident.... The play off final against Villa, whose player later admitted he thought it should've been a foul.

I don't think its based on just one game and it was never a foul it was poor judgment simple as that

I think he has improved but still worries me at times but was superb against Betis

We seem to have a very wide mix of fans on the forum who are spread far and wide.

But how many are not actually from Derbyshire and as such how and why did your supporting of Derby County begin?

I’m a Londoner now living in Kent.
All my family were Arsenal even though Millwall was more local and my hero was Charlie George and have a pic of me wearing an Arsenal shirt on my 7th birthday

I had pics all over my wall of Charlie and in the playground before school I was always Charlie in my head in the game

The game would usually be the latest big game so Derby were quite often selected in the playground and I remember it once being Derby v Real Madrid and Charlie had now moved and once again I was playing as CG so my allegiance to Arsenal wained and I became a Ram

I saved my paper round money and went to my first game at 15 on my own via train and that was it ….hooked ….

since then go to most games home and away sometimes by car sometimes by rail but always loud and supportive

ps I often wonder what would’ve happened if Charlie never made the move to the Rams

I certainly wouldn’t have clocked up the thousands of miles I’ve done but love this club and hope for better times as recently have found myself quite down about how and where we are heading COYR

Apologies for paraphrasing your post but I think there were a couple of important points.

    - our recruitment team under nigel was Simon wasn't it? Widely derided at the time I seem to recall but in hindsight....

    - Thorne was signed the year before Mel took full control, but I suppose maybe you meant that his investment in 2014 provided the funds....

    - I think Simon went when nigel went so the whole recruitment set up got overhauled and Chris Evans appeared around this time as coo. Don't forget that when nigel went, we moved to a head coach system rather than a manager, so a bit of infrastructure needed building.

All that said, our recruitment /contract negotiations have been poor for several seasons and are ripe for gutting.....

yes I did mean the funds to bring Thorne in on a permanent were funded by Mel  and no complaints there I thought that Mac brought him in on loan and to be fair Mac made some good loans as well

The whole recruitment team and argument is a valid one because here lies the real problem in many ways …if we had continued to find talent without spending too big we ultimately wouldn’t be in such a mess

I think Mels insistence on the academy being our main source of supply for the first team was good but the scouting system since Simon Cloughs days have been awful but they are still here ! This is what beggars belief for me

it’s ok having a good academy and fair play to Mel for aiding this side of the club but I think Macs lad is still here and if so I find that incredible considering how many managers we’ve been through
