If Ashley is the guy we need to welcome him with open arms . He has run Newcastle within profit and sustainability rules for about 13 years. All but two of those years have been spent in the EPL. The other two years were spent winning the EFL Championship. What wouldn't we have given for that record at Derby over the same period?

The Newcastle fans at first welcomed him with open arms but when they realised he wasn't going to provide them with an open cheque book they turned on him. Theirs was an uncomfortable co-existence ever since. Why was that? Because  the Geordie fans had unreasonable expectations. They are a club that has not won a top domestic trophy since their FA Cup triumph in 1955 but they think they have a God given right to compete to be in the top four of the EPL every season. At first, Ashley sat with them at away games until they turned on him when they realised he was not going to endlessly bankroll them come what may..

We do not have the same expectations. We have been floored by a guy who promised us the earth as a local benefactor but then walked away having brought our club to its knees and to the brink of being liquidated after 137 years of a very proud footballing history. We should be grateful for salvation from our current predicament. If it is to be Mike Ashley, Andy Appleby or whoever else who takes us over, we should be grateful and give them our ultimate support in the first instance for removing us from our current precarious predicament.

Just give them a chance without any prejudice because We Are Derby.

    Great post

It’s not the ranting and raving it’s repeating the same thing over and over for 27 pages. We all get the point. It seems I’m not allowed to have have my say though. As for flippant remarks You’re the one that used the term superfan in a derogatory way mocking me for supporting the team home and away.

Its not meant to be  repeating but if it is so what??...my point was there are some on here who defend MM and i find that incredible to find any defence....you say you can't have your say yet leave derisory remarks about others having there say!! ...we're all fans on here mate

Mel could still pay the HMRC bill and save his club

I don't think he can .....DCFC is a limited organisation so if he walks away the debt doesn't follow him it follows us...also how would it look if he paid the HMRC but then didn't pay other creditors ?? If he was going to pay that bill then surely he would've done so before being put into admin.....also if it was true some players like Buchanan were being touted by clubs for a few million why didn't he sell ?? when Collymore let it out of the bag that we were in deeper trouble than anyone imagined and could mean the club goes under he wasn't wrong and whats more is.....it hasn't happened overnight....well before covid was even mentioned we were being run very badly ....its actually heart breaking whats happened to us it really is ?

  5. of course we can't change the past but for anyone to make excuses for Mel is beyond belief it really is!!

Our Football club is in deep trouble and owes millions to HMRC ( No Excuses ) and yet some see that Mel is not totally to blame !!! it beggars belief!!  We seriously might not even have a football club soon and although I agree ranting and raving will cure nothing I cannot and will not forgive MM of how he's treated this football club...Covid is not an excuse ...I don't see other clubs in a total embarrasing mess like us and I don't see other clubs making a complete hash of it regarding amortisation etc etc ...its a shambles full stop and starts and finishes with the head man who generously  walked away.l...yeah thanks Mel.....lol..........The worst thing that ever happened to our club was the day MM gained control....we were not far away before he intervened and have gone backwards since and now face liquidation if we dont find 30m owed in taxes!!! I'll go further to say had we been run correctly we might be a lot nearer the prem than league1 if we have a football club to actually play in the 3rd tier ......shambles!!! and a disgrace!!

  6. I don’t see how Morris can sleep at night having run us into the ground not paying HMRC I mean that is scandalous a total disgrace and then to walk away it’s beyond words it really is

the amount of people and there families this has affected due to admin not just livelihoods but there’s thousands of fans of this club who no doubt like myself am really struggling coming to terms with our situation …shame on you Mel Morris we trusted you ?

Think this is a bit harsh on Rooney this season. The squad is very thin and we are putting in young inexperienced players and forcing them to gain experience quickly. Lack of strikers. Defence has been pretty solid for the main part. Yesterday, too many  sloppy passes etc, wouldn’t say it was down to tactics or Rooney.
I don’t know if other managers would do better or worse than Rooney but I think Rooney has been dealt a tough hand this season. Also, Derby are a battling team and the times we haven’t turned up or got hammered in the match seem to be rare.

The bare minimum i expect to see as a fan is effort and i see that in abundance...Mac is here to help Rooney and speaking to fans from other clubs at work they said that whenever they've seen the Rams recently we are playing some decent stuff....with what he have....and i agree...but we are short of a decent striker and if one or two were added we'd see more points coming our way I think....Jourdan tried to say that Andre Gray was not better than CKR based off of last seasons goal stats but i know who'd id rather have out of the two.....for the record I think CKR done very well last season but we need better now and this season has seen him be much less effective

There is no guarantee of success, that is true, but you increase your chances with a more proven managerial choice.

Absolutely minimal evidence of this....Mourinho at Man Utd,Tottenham is just one very good example and Hughton,Mcarthy,Jokanovic are examples too and there are many others....name a manager you'd replace Rooney with .....go on ....I'd like to know who ?

  9. 6 hours ago, Jourdan said:

I think it comes down to being proven at this level. Usually this will give you more of a chance. Having something tangible that people can cling to.

Warburton did a very good job at Brentford earlier in his career and got a good reputation following that. QPR was probably viewed as a similar project. One where he could quietly operate, compared to other jobs he has taken with big clubs expecting a big splash.

You can see why QPR, who are known for wobbling and churning through managers, have given him the time and patience.

It’s quite different putting your trust and faith into a steady hand compared to someone with hardly any coaching background to speak of.

Coaches/Managers have to start somewhere Lampard started here why not Rooney? who exactly are you suggesting we get instead of Rooney ? This proven, tangible, experienced, steady hand that you speak of yet have no names ??with absolutely no guarantees of success....like ?? Hughton? Mcarthy?Jokanovic?? All failed and sacked recently so lets hear your suggestions rather than just bleating on about Rooneys so called short comings

Austin, Gray or Dykes would indeed all add something to our team.

But they would also need the service to boot. The question is, would they get it in this team and under this manager?

Haha here comes the joyous Jourdan as soon as we lose you’re on here ….we don’t have a decent striker what else which is blaringly obvious do you want to know???

  11. Bielik will be sub coming of for last 20mins maybe to shore things up if we’re winning and this would be sensible

also the youngsters have been brilliant Thompson Knight Bird Festy but if there form dips who j it can at there stage of career then we have Beilik who could step in

also the odd 20mins will mean interested parties can then see how good he is and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go with some nice money coming our way

  12. Was proud of every player and coach associated with our club today ...our desire and fearless approach after half time was magnificent

Seeing Jagielka and Curtis still defending for there lives at there stage of there careers says so much about them two and the youngsters were impressive with there energy and enthusiasm to close Bournemouth down was fantastic

we saw a glimpse of what the cherries are capable of with there second goal but generally we didn’t let them play and deserve massive praise

we looked more energetic without Morrison and I’d bring Byrne back and push Festy up higher where he could cause serious damage

This team never gives up it seems and Knight for me was the best player on the pitch closely followed by Curtis but it was difficult to single out one player

Roos will continue to cost us goals I’m afraid and although he also made a couple of good stops It is apparent now surely that we need better in goal

I do think Roos is a good number 2 option but his errors will cost us

proud to be behind the lads today and felt a real connection with the players and staff today like we are all in this together

    Very well done ??????

  13. Once upon a time not that long ago football was about the players who pulled on the great jersey of a fans beloved team

it was about  growing up watching your heroes on the pitch and trying to emulate them in your own football matches

    football is lost !!!

it’s about amortisation and ffp and players leaving for free with greedy agents pocketing money that never returns to the game and football clubs losing money to greed

For the last 18 months or so the headlines have not been about a great goal or a terrific signing it’s about finance and ffp and some things we never used to know anything about like amortisation blah blah blah !! because we just love the game and are fans this whole charade is both upsetting and has probably put us back years

sick to death with how the EFL have treated us and how a so called fan has dragged us through the mire and made us a laughing stock ...someone we trusted

     ....and I’ve had enough

    THE END

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it? But (analogy warning) if you were buying a house at an agreed price and the vendor upped the asking price by 66% the day before contracts were due to be exchanged, would you still go through with it? Maybe you would, but my answer, purely on a point of principle, would end in "off" and no matter how much I loved the house, I'd start looking at different properties even if that house came back on the market at the original price 6 months later.

BTW, we bought Vydra and Anya earlier that season, and that might well have either influenced the decision not to give in to Exeter's demand or even restricted our ability to stump up another £1.2m. The "Just pay it" approach has allot to answer for at this club and it's bizarre to see fans saying that we should actually have spent more just because a player turned out to be a great signing by another club.

Also Crewton another point is this …if Exeter were so money driven they would’ve come to us later knowing we were interested at 1.8m and said Brentford were willing to pay that fee…maybe good old principles then got in the way of us offering say 2m or 2.2 to get a deal done because they had upped the price previously who knows …negotiating deals especially on unknown quantities is difficult no doubt

I’m not saying just pay it ..what I’m saying is I always have a value in my head if what I would pay …if I’d agreed a price and someone changes there mind and it was more than I valued it at I’d walk away …if I and here’s the point I’m trying to make  if DCFC thought he’s worth that then pay it he was worth 3m and yes hindsight and all that but when you see a player you’ve scouted if you like him enough and beleive in your scouting team you either pay what they want or you don’t …we didn’t and in hindsight was a poor decision …no one can blame a team like Exeter of thinking it’s Derby maybe we can get more money and I don’t mean having our pants pulled down …if it was silly money then fair enough but in the grand scheme of things an extra 1.2m was the sort of fee we wasted on the winger from France who was rubbish so maybe there lies the problem the club didn’t have enough belief in our scouting network

Exeter moved the goalposts at the last minute after DCFC had agreed a £1.8M fee - they upped their demand to £3M I believe, presumably because they thought "it's Derby, they'll pay it". DCFC, understandably, told them to swivvel. Brentford came in for him that summer and he signed for the £1.8M fee we'd agreed originally. Why didn't we go back for him? Maybe we didn't want to go through the same rubbish with Exeter again. If we'd paid Exeter what they'd wanted and he'd turned out to be rubbish, fans would have been rightly critical about the club caving in.

Disagree …he was worth 3m as has proved there’s always going to be differences in values and opinion

It’s neither here nor there that Brentford got him for 1.8m

the price when we wanted him was 3m and we either pay it or not and we didn’t but looking at where he is now that wasn’t a wise choice

what’s amuses me here is we paid daft money for Anya at 4.5m yet didn’t think Watkins was worth 3m it’s all well and good sticking to principles as price went up for him but an extra 1.2m is not a lot compared to how much we’ve wasted on dross in the past

Yeah, I meant it wasn't that we didn't scout him. ?

scouting is pointless if you don't actually sign the hidden gems so its flawed somewhere....I'm not saying scouts always get it right because its still a gamble but lets not suggest we've got it right because we haven't....especially our foreign scouting ....all I'm saying Roy is that it needs looking at the whole system from scouting to signings etc it needs to be better especially in financial climate we find ourselves in
