At least we won’t be linked with Lee Gregory all summer as he’s joined Mansfield …😬

Criticism of Lampard for taking his dream job is ridiculous
I don’t blame him for taking his dream job but I do blame him for not having the b******* to do it earlier when it was clear by most he was going
we also did him a huge favour giving him a break in management then a couple of weeks before season starts and with no signings he quits…so that’s what pissed me off and left us and Cocu in the lurch and impacted greatly on our start to the season

People seem quick to forget some of the crap style of football we watched under Warne this season because we got record points in a piss poor league
Can’t understand why some don’t like Warne as a person as I think he’s a top bloke
This time next year Warne won’t be our manager
Cocu was out first ever foreign coach and some never liked him or gave him the time of day and I think got unfairly treated
Lampard was a crap manager who was only successful because of Mount,Wilson and Tomori. But dropped us like a shitty stick and left but should’ve gone as soon as season ended !!!left Cocu with no time for a decent pre season
Rowetts team was the most boring and un adventurous ever!!!
Mac and Clough together would’ve been a big success

Max Lowe on a free from sheff United? Rumoured to be released?
Older player I know but Oliver Norwood also leaving he’d be good experience around the dressing room if Hourhaine leaves
Max Lowe we can do much better I hope

From what I’ve heard Mansfield are near to getting him
-
Before the season started I would never had picked Hull for top 6 so to get 7th and just miss out is progress
Rosenior is a good coach for reasons I’ve mentioned before and think Rooney was lucky to have him
Rosenior will get another chance and I for one hope he does well ….stuck by us and conducted himself very well even when we let him go …wish him all the best

I do think picking up 3 or 4 of the better players from L1 gets you a long way in the Champ. I really like the Peterboro set up. Most of their squad is under 25, they have pace and fitness and try to keep the ball on the ground. Much to be admired by their set up. I like Kyprianou and Randall in midfield. Poku is decent as is at least one of their centre halves and wings. Now they are out of the playoffs we need to beat Portsmouth to mop up some of those better players.
agree about Kyprianou but don't rate Poku, looks like Coventry have signed there best player in Mason-Clark he looks a real coup for them , I think Edwards looks good at CB too
If we signed Phillips, Barnsley , Brannigan , Oxford and Edwards I think it would seen as brilliant young signings but maybe just dreaming as probably out of our budget but who knows

It will be interesting to see who out of the promoted clubs from L1 get players in the door earliest
It will be a gauge to how good our recruitment team is as we certainly shouldn't be behind the winners of the play offs hopefully we get players in early to allow them chance to settle in etc and hopefully younger players too
exciting summer ahead 👍

Now that it’s near a done deal that Barnsley are staying down, I’d love any of Kane, Connel, Phillips or Williams from them.
Phillips would be a great signing and Brannigan from Oxford would be great business if we got both of them

I know every player looks good on highlights but this video shows what he’s about and that he’s not just a big lad he seems good with the ball at feet and quite the athlete.
..lets hope we're looking at better as he looks quite average in a very poor standard of football
-
I keep reading comments that we'll be a counter attacking side next season but I for one would like to see us be a bit more on the front foot, this is mainly because I don't like the idea of sitting behind the ball and being dominated and relying on counter attacks a bit like when Rowett was here, it was negative IMO and used to frustrate me how we gave up so much possession think we can be better than that.
I think its because i prefer a more possession based style of football and the recruitment will be interesting
We don't have to be a counter attacking side and do think over the course of the season will be difficult to accept if we don't pick up points and like us to be positive and be more balanced and attacking

When I look at these percentile charts, it's clear to me that Brown should have a big role to play next season. He'll provide everything you want from a Warne forward - shooting, creating, and would help with the high press. Weirdly, he's fairly similar to Waghorn (statistically).
Waghorn's shooting stats surprised me. You'll struggle to find many forwards who rank so high across the board in any division. Could he be worth keeping as an emergency CF... essentially resulting in similar to Gayle's involvement?
I always find your stats posts interesting but also proves that sometimes stats don't tell the whole story Brown's stats are from the National League and although I'd give Brown a chance more as an option from the bench I'd be quite disappointed if we kept Waggy as we need better for next season

Phillips looks a solid centre mid for barnsley. Prime age too
Philips could be one of the goalscoring mids we need 👍🏻 got a good goal record for a mid

IMHO only Adams from those three is anywhere near the level we will need next season.
Smith is a good solid pro dropping through the divisions and Thompson is little more than a keen runner.
Winning the midfield will be so important and will require strength, stamina and guile.
I think we probably need at least two, possibly three new midfield players in our squad.
Totally agree Adams has to be seen as a very important signing as I don’t believe we’d have got autos without him
when one player makes such a significance it’s important we sign him and then we need a more attacking mid ( Brannigan ?) and another CM
don’t see Thommo as a starter next season but a good option off the bench
-
Just seen this that Tuanazebe is out of contract but thought Ipswich had signed him ?
he’s very good imo and if we lost Cash I’d be in for him hes not far off of prem league quality though and be surprised if tractor boys don’t keep him for prem

I don’t think we have to be ruthless. We have to be sensible and strike a balance.
At the end of the day, Warne’s success has been achieved through good man management and building a good club culture.
If we decide to be ‘ruthless’ we’ll be left with almost no-one and having to rebuild the team from scratch as well as the good atmosphere in the dressing room and good team spirit and understanding amongst the players.
That shouldn’t be underestimated. Warne won’t want a team of strangers lining up together on the opening day.
I agree with keeping a tight unit and retaining the clear comradery that Warne has created but we need new faces and although Warne likes a certain type of personality in a player which is commendable we still need players and can’t keep this squad together because we need change
The main characters in the dressing room will be important going forward as they should help new players to settle and become part of the family
These changes are necessary so hopefully we’ve done our homework and know who we want and get things done early ….this of course is easier said than done with greedy agents wanting to wait until the end of the window
I imagine that Warne will still not buy just for the sake of it so let’s trust Warne to get the right players and keep the harmonious dressing room but change is necessary

Keep
Cashin, Nelson , Nyambe, Thommo, Ward, Gayle , Collins ( back up )Smith Rooney NML
rest can go we need a new GK, CB, at least 3 CM’s 1 of which hopefully is Adams pacey striker and a hold up striker if we get both Collins can also leave and 2 wide players if we get both wide players CBT can go
ruthless yes but we must be ….it would be a disaster if we didn’t survive back in championship and I’d be looking for mid table at least
there are players out there just have to find them like other clubs do
I firmly believe if we look at championship players who aren’t getting the game time but are decent enough to be starters for us I’d concentrate on them players likeGodden Cov
Taylor Ipswich
Adams Cardiff
Chaplin Ipswich
Edmundson Ipswich
Lavelle Carlisle
Brannigan Oxford -
Diamond Sunderland loan
Azeez Reading
The largest fee would be for Brannigan and maybe Edmundson but i genuinely think these players are achievable and gives our squad a better look for the championship
after listening to podcast it’s apparently very important we get the right amount of players in and don’t bust the bank with average wages in championship 31m compared to 17m in L1
Very tough job but our recruitment will now need to earn there money but exciting times ahead
we need players in the door asap and waiting until end of the window will not help …although except loans from prem would only be late in the window after prem clubs have sorted there squads
looking forward to a busy summer and hopefully we’ll also be looking at affordable players in the euros this summer 👍🏻

Neville is the best pundit on the telly by a mile
(even better than Shaun Barker)
I’d love him to have another go at managing, with us
Totally agree I think Neville is very honest and talks a lot of sense and Forest hate him as he’s upset them with his comments which is great….truth hurts !!

yep apologies I meant Connor Chaplin

As on the other thread just checked. Bishop is a Pompey player and their leading scorer. Was released from our academy and also a Red dog. Doubt Pompey would sell him to us and not sure he would sign for us after some of the public statements he has made about how he loves to score against us.
stranger things have happened though I suppose.apologies i meant Connor Chaplin from ipswich not Bishop
-
Edmundson, Jack Taylor and Colby Bishop from Ipswich ( none of those will play in prem )
Godden from Coventry
Brannigan from Oxford
Azeez from Reading
Adams from Cardiff
Gayle on a free
-
Was going to put on another thread that I think we could get George
He's not been selected quite a lot and don't think he's going to play much in the prem with ipswich
If we want to start getting a decent championship team/squad together maybe a cheeky bid for Edmundson , Jack Taylor and Colby Bishop from tractor boys wouldn't hurt
Looking at some players who are not getting the game time they want that also means looking at players like Matt Godden from Coventry championship and there are a lot of fringe players that could do well for us as well as Gayle and Brannigan from Oxford would be nice and Azeez from Reading and a real playmaker would also be nice as well as Ebou

Let’s hope the fact we still haven’t publicised the retained list is not indicative of our summer recruitment as we seem behind everyone.
Teams are snapping up players already crossing my fingers we are going to get things done early and get some exciting players in COYR
