Great result and whilst the performance second half was a bit dire in general the effort and desire of the players was superb. Just check their faces at the final whistle- they were knackered and relieved.

I expect Bolton to beat Posh and as we have seen sometimes this season, when the latter lose they can sometimes lose big. If we take this as job done already then we are fools. Carlisle are bringing a (for them) massive 2,000 to Pride Park and they are going to try and put on one last performance and claim one big scalp in the process. If we relax and they score and Bolton are also winning then that GD-winning thread is suddenly looking very thin and fragile.

We need focus in this game and once again an early goal to settle things down. I say we go at them first half to try and put the game to bed early. I don’t want to see us trying to play out a draw. It’s just too risky.

You can almost taste it- but we need one last push from the team and fans.

    Totally agree.

This game is to Carlisle fans what Blackpool was to us... and look what a highly enjoyable day that was, despite the circumstances!
We do not want to see them jumping around the away end, celebrating their relegation with a last day bonus win, on their big day out!

We really need Peterborough to win mid-week to take this game seriously. We saw Oxford turn them over 5-0 and they’ve conceded 56 goals this season so they’ve got a problem keeping the ball out the net, I wouldn’t fancy them keeping the score down if they rest players against Bolton. Bolton really only need to win by three goals as they have the goal scored tiebreaker (should we lose).

It helps the League One play-offs starts the following Friday (3rd placed) so you’d imagine that it will be situational based on their result, our result. If I’m Warne, I’m tempted to play the low block, keep things tight and hit Carlisle on the counter. Starve them of opportunities. Ultimately we only need a point and it makes no odds to Carlisle so we could play it out, slow the game right down. They’ve lost 16 of their last 21 games (2024 record). It’s been a limp finish from them. Give them a way out of getting a draw to end the season, don’t force the issue and give them an opportunity, just play it around and keep them at arms length. If they want to commit players then hit them on the counter, otherwise I would see if they would like a point and an unbeaten finish to the season.

The problem with offering opponents the opportunity to take a draw is that football is full of cheats, and nobody can be trusted.
No disrespect to Carlisle specifically, or indeed their much respected manager, but they'd probably nick a winner in the dying moments, then point and laugh at us!
Kill em off early I say.  Win, win, and thrice win!

I had a tenner on Bolton after their draw against Shrews - thought I’d done well getting 15s bloody 66s now!!

15s is not to be sniffed at though mate.
That was a week's wage back in the day!

    EDIT:

Oh sorry... thought you said you put a tanner on Bolton!  😉

  4. You youngsters are in for the time of your lives.
There'll be no end of folk sending out an awful lot of live Rams related tweets, messages, and insta's next week, that's for sure.
    PPS will literally be buzzin'!
Keep those 'phones charged up, folks!

    👀

    Oh...
    Happy birthday @Ellafella  🍻

  5. Allow me... if you will... to hark back to times of old...

The very first attendance by this then 12 year old boy at the BBG.
Spookily, it was v Carlisle, and spookily v.2, it was the final game of the season.

Yeah, ok, the game was rubbish.  Yeak, ok, I didn't witness any goals, and yeah ok, the players appeared to be a tad tipsy on the day.
But what a classy bunch of players they were.
Crisp white uniform tops, looking as resplendent as anything the US Navy could aspire to, hoisting and tossing the shiniest, and most coveted trophy around, for all to see, all to share, all to be proud of, and all to rejoice in, as one massive "in it together" football family.

... And not a pitch invasion in sight!
Classy players.  Classy fans.  Classy Football Club!

I repeat... this was the first game of my Derby County supporting career.  I could have easily walked away, as there was no tie.
That day, or any day since, I could have headed off and simply changed my shirt. (Red was very popular for the following few decades!)
But this was the day that made me think "Yeah.  I can stick with this for the rest of my life.  Once a Ram, always a Ram.  I'm in"
The classiness of that day had not passed me by.  I was in.  I was hooked.  🐏

We'll be celebrating the 50th anniversary of this, next season.
Shall we invade the pitch after every home game to mark the occasion? 👀

  6. Dear Mr warne,

I would just like to offer my sincere gratitude for your part is what has proven to be a most memorable season.
Even through those harshest of winter evenings, and unlike any winter before, not once have I considered staying at home in front of the fire, and foregoing the opportunity to traipse to to the game at Pride Park.
And that is all down to you, good sir.

... I just wished I'd tried Bobble hats sooner!  👀

One point needed vs worst team in the league with a Derby legend as manager. And even if we lose, still will probably finish 2nd on goal difference. Basically in the bag. Nothing can wrong.

    Right?

Must admit, I was dreading it all getting settled today.
Next week's game would have been such an anti-climax!  Who wants to get promoted early?  Ooh no, thank you very much.

Now we have something to look forward to.  We have hope, expectation, excitement, anticipation, and lots and lots of laundry! 👀

I've ordered some beta-blockers, and checked out where the nearest heart-zapping machine is (To PPS).

I'm buzzing.  What a week to be al

  8. Caught up on here... caught snippets of first half on car radio.  Put shopping away at 0-0, unaware of NML's goal until I settled down and put RD back on at 4pm.
Cracking goal (seen the vid on here).  Now all caught up on here.

My thoughts on this second half are...
