So who would we have then?

1) Paul Simpson - If we have to spend some of the money from the possible Bird/Cashin sale to get him, do it.

2) Ian Evatt - Why would he leave Bolton?

3) Lee Carsley - Its highly unlikely we'd get him. He'd probably have better offers if he wanted to get into club football.

4) Frank Lampard - Why not? Chelsea probably have a lot of players they want to loan.

5) Tony Pulis - If we're going to play thug football, at least do it the right way.

Is it the same people in charge of loans at Chelsea since the takeover because Lampard without his loan pull is absolutely turgid.

Coaching staff of Simo Valakari,  Inigo Idiakez, Paul Simpson, Lee Carsley and Chris Powell … yes please

Is the plan that the next one in line succeeds the one who's just been sacked until they're all used up?

Otherwise I'm worried that if we have to sack them all at once we'll have no other ex-players-now-doing-something-in-management-and/or-coaching left to turn to. Except Igor. (Add him to the list?)

I’d take Idiakez in a heartbeat.

You know, it’s increasingly common that holding midfielders make decent managers/coaches because they could always understand the game better. Rather than relying on physical attributes, they used their brain.

The obvious examples being Guardiola and now Arteta and Xabi Alonso.

But Gary O’Neil is now another. Thomas Frank was an amateur central midfielder.

Idiakez was an intelligent player. I think from a coaching perspective he probably has the footballing brain to go far.

Was Idiakez a holding midfielder 🤔

Claude Makelele is one of their Loan Player Managers, and Terry is back in their academy so maybe he still has some connections, who knows?

Why? It's quite clear we have the players in the squad and U21s to play a back 4 well, defence was never really our problem. But now we have a bit more of a midfield problem, but play NML and Barks and Sibs where they ought to be and hey presto.

Isn't that just last year's team without the goals, though? Barks had maybe 3 good games and the midfield and defence would still be like watching the Titanic tackle a hairpin. Selling Knight and not replacing him has gutted the engine room. No manager with pedigree will want to put his name to this shower.

Barks was starting to score for fun around January (?) when he was dropped for Dobbin. The defence could easily be based around Cash and Foz as the CBs. The midfield could just about stand Smith or a youngster with Hourihane/Bird. NML is a winger, and we now have Wash and Waggy who have shown their potential already. Oh and Sibs doesn't have to be a fullback.

Who exactly are we (hypothetically?) replacing here?

I'm awfully confused.  Is someone leaving?

Neither the title nor the OP makes it clear!    🤷‍♂️

We are hypothetically replacing anyone you want. You could say you want Rammie replacing if you want.

No one is leaving, but we just lost at home to Oxford United in League One. So we are trying to escape reality through fantasy
