Burton Albion (A) (Sat 10th Dec 2022, 2pm KO)

Two points dropped.

Presumably Sibley had to come off injured, but that lost us momentum. Switching to a back 5 also lost us momentum. But not finishing off our opponents, with chance after chance going begging, inevitably killed us.

It's odd that a team which has been coached to keep possession at all costs, nowadays seems incapable of doing so and controlling the game when circumstances dictate this is what we should be doing.

Huge shame, but at least the unbeaten run continues.

Warneball not even close to winning me over. The kick and run was bad enough, but it seemed to me that whilst we were under some defensive pressure Forsyth and Cashin were in control, and forming a good strong shape. Coming on, Davies just inadvertently created problems for us. Forsyth didn’t seem to know where he should be in the five. Glad I am watching games on TV. I am having early 80s flashbacks of watching turgid football in the wet and cold.

FT………poor game.

We struggled with Burton swamping the midfield and after a bright start we got sucked into a long ball game.

Burton deserved a point as we didn’t do enough and got sucked into hoofing it and not thinking.

Sheff Weds did the same to us last week and we haven’t been able to counter it.

Two points dropped that one.

Gained a point on Posh and Bolton…

It's because the new manager has thrown away the previous approach that was working and is now telling the players that hoofball is the preferred option.

Disappointing but we have to remind ourselves that we nearly had no club at all and to be in the mix with a hastily assembled squad is quite a result in itself.

That's becoming an excuse now, 20 games in and we're still underperforming at times, The one get out is...our play/tactics have changed, Players win you games, Managers set the team up, If players fail to score when in good positions then the Manager will at some point look else where, The manager brings Davies on...a little confused here...why, Injury or just game time, Warne it would appear has the hots for Davies...imo he's a busted flush now.

Why does Dobbin keep getting in as first choice. His missed (easy) chances when we recently have so few, and his lightweight defending on the same side as Smith make us an easy target.

Can't think what Warne was doing today and why Knight didn't come on sooner, same for Osula. Whole game was poor tactically and lots of very poor displays - could easily drop Foz on that showing, if only for his long punts. But Cashin had a mare. Hourihane was invisible. Meh. The players are good enough but that display was awful.

Lol. We were very poor before that. I assume it was to go 3 at the back rather than 4, and more in midfield? Plus Cashin was struggling in the air particularly.
