Liverpool v Derby (A) Matchday Thread

Looking at that Liverpool side, we should be able to keep it respectable, unless Nunez and Firmino get significant minutes.

The first 20 minutes will be crucial. The longer the game wears on, the more jittery the opposition may get, the more restless the home fans may get, the more encouraged our players and fans will feel, and the more chance we have of nicking a shock result.

1-1 and Derby to win a shootout would be lovely.

Fun Facts
(With the emphasis more on fact than fun!)

After knocking out Championship side West Brom in the last round, Derby are looking to eliminate two sides from a higher division in a single League Cup campaign for the first time since 1968-69 under Brian Clough, when they knocked out Chelsea and Everton.

This is the third meeting between Liverpool and Derby County in the League Cup, with the Reds winning both games at the third round stage (2-0 in October 1977, 3-0 in September 2016).

Derby have won just one of their last 22 away matches against Liverpool in all competitions (D4 L17), winning 2-1 in November 1998 under Jim Smith. This is their first game at Anfield since a 6-0 defeat in September 2007.
