Wildsmith. 6. 2 good saves. Distribution good.

Knight. 8 Another top game. Fluffed a clear goal by heading wide.

Davies.  7 Dominant but a couple of stray passes when not under pressure.

Cashin. 5. A couple of shakey moments almost cost.

Roberts. 6. Good game but got done by their rangey winger twice.

Smith. 5. Fitness? Lightweight for me.

Bird. 8. Vg game. Pulled the strings.

Hourihane.6. Some sublime balls in.

Mendez-Laing. 8 MOTM. Constant threat.

Barkheuizen. 6. Contributing but not outstanding.

Collins. 8. Bossed their centre backs with battling play. Should have scored 2.

Subs:

Sibley. 8. Great cutting edge from the bench.

Dobbin. 7. Showed some impressive stuff. Looks classy and has bags to contribute.

Forsyth. 6. Assured.

Wildsmith. 7. 5 good distribution and a couple of decent saves. Lost 1 point for flapping the shot into the middle of the goal for the winner

Knight. 6 he's not a full back and that was shown in the 1st half when he didn't stop the cross from which they nearly scored

Davies.  6.5 think he's starting to look his age

Cashin. 6.5 drawn across towards Davies too often. Looked exposed on a number of Charlton 2nd half counters

Roberts. 7 needs to work on building an understanding with the left wing player

Smith. 5.5 nothing terrible just nothing much good

Bird. 7. Not nasty enough to play the single pivot

Hourihane 5. Stuck on the left wing rather bizarrely. Alongside bird I don't think works.

Mendez-Laing. 8 fast, dribbles and crosses. Had sessegnon on toast and was then strangely switched.

Barkheuizen. 6.5 flattered to deceive

Collins. 7. Gets very little support until sibbo arrived. Then he looked like he didn't know where he was meant to be running to.

Subs:

Sibley. 7.5 thought he upped our threat considerably compared to smiyh

Dobbin. 6.5 young and eager, but the team clearly didn't know him yet.

Forsyth. 6 cameo only.

Wildsmith 7 - couple of good saves & one fantastic punch from one very dangerous Charlton cross. Comfortable on ball but few too many long balls that were too straight. Maybe harsh but could he have done a little better with the parry for their goal

Knight 6.5 - played his part in our first half dominance & did a decent job at full back. Should have scored with second half header though

Davies 6.5 - couple of vital aerial interventions & looked classy on the ball but made at least two glaring misplaced passes which nearly let them in

Cashin 6.5 - quite similar to Curtis, great on the ball at times but some sloppiness/complacency occasionally. Generally did well defensively

Roberts 6.5 - was part of the triangle on the left that caused Charlton so many problems first half. Felt defensive side wasn't great, got caught out/outmuscled a couple of times

Smith 6.5 - contributes a lot with his energy & quick passing but do feel he's a little too advanced given he's unlikely to score many. Was hauled off as Charlton dominated early in the second half

Bird 7 - couple of misplaced passes but still at the heart of most good things we did. Sumptuous ball to Knight for that second half headed chance

Hourihane 7.5 - was excellent first half, they couldn't get close to him. Also felt his workrate was good throughout the game (one instance where he chased their striker as last man in second half). Set pieces decent also & had one very good chance second half that he put narrowly wide

Mendez-Laing 6.5 - not as good as last Saturday. Carried plenty of menace as usual but delivery from wide wasn't great & he didn't get himself up with play for crosses from left side in first half. One opportunity he had to run 10 yards to meet whereas could have been a tap in had he committed

Barkhuizen 6.5 - along with Hourihane & Roberts, dominated Charlton's right side & one great flick for Collins' first chance. A little quiet at other times

Collins 7 - better than last Saturday, he held the ball up well & created that late chance first half by outmuscling their CB. He had 3 great chances though & didn't score but at least he's getting into those positions. The goals will come with him

Subs

Sibley 7 - brought energy & purpose to the side and you could see momentum switch back to us when he came on. Couple of good runs, think he's close to a start

Dobbin 6.5 - wanted the ball & had one half chance. He would've thrived with more space to operate in

Forsyth 6.5 - looked bright when he came on

Wildsmith. 7 Pretty good but some a couple of poor parries and his kicks seemed to get longer and straighter as the match went on

Knight. 6.5 Felt he didn't want to be playing there. And although Bird's cross came from an unusual angle, he had to bury that header.

Davies. 7 A couple of moments but our leader.

Cashin. 7 Felt he was composed at the back, always wanting the ball. And quite positive with it.

Roberts. 6.5 Lacking penetration when we need more from our fullbacks

Smith. 6.5 Quiet game.

Bird. 8 Felt he was the class midfielder on the pitch, really helped when Sibley was on with him. MotM

Hourihane. 6.5 Very low-energy second half.

Mendez-Laing. 7 Always an outlet but pretty much zero end product. Not on the same wavelength as the other players. In the second half we would run into cul-de-sacs instead of giving it Sibley when it was crying out for that ball to be played inside.

Barkheuizen. 6 Ineffectual. Surprised how little impact he seemed to have on the game.

Collins. 7 Led the line very well but missed two good chances.

Subs:

Sibley. 7.5 Full of energy, purpose, running and so much stronger than before. Has become a man and our main attacking midfielder. Has to start.

Dobbin. 6.5 Signs of inventiveness and positivity.

Forsyth. 6.5 A step up in creating danger from the left compared with Roberts.

Last week when we won we had 26 sets of ratings by 6pm; most of those had been submitted by Sunday pm.
This week, after a defeat, we have 12 sets of ratings.

Interesting what a defeat does.

And it being an away game so not as many people saw it.
