Twenty one million for 48 minutes of football, no goals, and they don't even get to keep the player

Bet Mr Binoculars didn't see that one coming

What exactly happened there? How can they be forced to pay the transfer fee, yet he's not their player? Still funny mind ?

Leeds had him on loan for the Covid season. As the original loan was until the end of June, and the fact he was crap, they chose not to extend it to the end of the extended season.

However, they were obliged to pay a transfer fee for gaining promotion.

They tried to weasel out of an obligation to buy clause. They had him during the Covid season, and they were obligated to buy him if they got promoted. As the season was extended, Leeds argued that the deadline for the obligation to buy had passed, so they didn't need to fulfil it. They don't get the player because both Leeds and RB Leipzig relinquished any claim to his registration at the start of the following season, so he joined Nantes on a free transfer with written permission by both clubs.

Perhaps I didnt use the right sentence, when I said that I meant new to Aston Villa,I know he has coached Valencia,Spartak Moscow and Arsenal and is a very successful coach.!

Didn’t manage to work much magic at the Arse so we've not really understood the full emery vibe here. That's just the kind of insular, limited horizon, small mindedness that us brits are legendary for..... ?
