Ouch! The Exchange is good value where you have market fluidity but these are not the right markets! Also, Betfair sportsbook is shocking and even if I wanted to use it they'd simply not allow me to place bets or restrict staks to a point where it's not worth bothering. You can't take more than a few quid off them before they poo the bed. They were bought out by Paddy Power and while the Exchange is great for a lot of events, they've destroyed what was already a poor sportsbook. The exchange is untampered with as it's not them laying our bets, obviously.

Best current odds as follows:

Winner - 1,500/1 Bet365 e/w terms 1/4 two places

Top 2 - 750/1 - Bet365 and Skybet e/w terms n/a

Promotion - 100/1 Bet365 and Sportingbet e/w terms n/a

Top 6 - 25/1 Betway e/w terms n/a

For perspective, 5 weeks back you could have had 100/1 just for a top 6 finish and as recently as yesterday Skybet went 2,000/1 winner and 1,500/1 top 2.

Anyway, bet sensibly folks, if at all ?

Whilst I don't think we will make the playoffs at all, you can't help looking at the table and dreaming.

We are 9 points off Brentford in 5th, 8 points of Preston in 6th and 6 points of 7th place.

We still got to play both Brentford and Preston, so it's in our hands to be 6 points off 5th.

Our March fixtures of Blackburn, Millwall, Reading and Preston doesn't exactly fill you with fear.

We've started to win away and if we manage to hit form and win both home and away, maybe the end of the season could still be interesting.

Don’t it’s the hope that kills you

Probably not going to happen but we can seriously muck up a lot of other teams ambitions

Whilst I agree with the optimism on here I was just thinking would it be better to get a points deduction this season rather than next ? ( if we do get a deduction )  as that would put a serious downer on next season before a ball is even kicked ?

I think in all honesty we wont make the play offs in what is a very mediocre division this season but I also think we wont go down even with a points deduction

I would hate to have to start next season with a points deduction in what could be a very good season

Everytime I think we're out of it the bamfords manage to make me hope again. You would have thought somebody would have been out of site in 6th place the amount of times we mess up, but it is still somehow within touching distance. Even if we don't quite manage playoffs if we could just somehow rooster up either Forest or Leeds (or both) promotion campaigns it will have all been worth it.

I agree @GenBr, taking 6 points off Notts & Leeds would make up for some of our more disappointing results this season BUT... I’ve got this terrible dilemma, I want Notts to batter Middlesbrough on Monday night.

I’m ashamed of myself and feel unclean but my loathing of the Boro owner far outweighs my disdain of them down the road

This is what it's all about. I still believe we can go on a good run, especially with these fixtures in march with Blackburn, reading etc.

If we can get ourselves into a decent position for the Leeds and forest games, we're in for a very exciting end to the season for sure.

I'm with you on this one. I'd like them to batter Boro - make sure they are nice and secure in the bottom 3.

Just think how good it would be if we then deliver a crippling blow to their playoff campaign. They've still got to play Fulham, Millwall, Bristol, Swansea and Preston this season, so our game could be vital for them.

We’re 8 points behind... that’s not impossible to recover with 10 games remaining. Unlikely granted, but at least with an away performance like we had today we can look up rather than down. We’d need a ridiculously run of form to stand a chance though. Probably 8/10 wins. Guess the run of remaining fixtures can be seen two ways. We’re against mainly teams above us, making 8/10 wins extremely unlikely. But equally, it gives us a chance to take points off our competitors. It puts it almost in our hands, if we were to be able to pick up a strong enough run of results. Some ask though.

To be honest I think it's too much to expect us to pull back 8 points, given the number of teams above us. We have a difficult April so need to gather the points in the next month and with the possibility of a points deduction I'll be happy when we reach the 60 point mark.

Mind you, a continuing FA Cup run wouldn't go amiss.

We will finish between 8th - 12th before any points reduction which is about right. Given the season we've had off the field of say that was a pretty decent result and gives me some optimism for the future. Decent blend of youth and experience emerging and hopefully we will have the finances to make a couple of decent signings to make a genuine go of it next season. Up the Rams
