Yorkshire examiner links us with offering trials to old cast offs ...

Jagielka was released by Sheffield United this summer and played 16 times in his second stint with the Blades, generally showing himself to be a steady hand still in the top flight when called upon at the age of 38.

Stearman meanwhile is now 33 years old and has been let go by Huddersfield Town, despite playing 21 times for the Terriers in the Championship last season.

    O

    We are in deep trouble.

Before we all get carried away, we ain't won owt yet.

Failure to do so and this is just the same as every other tournament England have been in bar 66. Southgate himself said not reaching the semi's would be a failure so we've basically just achieved our minimum expectations. Yet minimum expectations being met seems to equal mass hysteria.

Will be interesting to see how the narrative changes if the Danes beat us.

Why can't we celebrate? This notion that you can't be happy or celebrate until you've won silverware, is a nonsense. Lighten up and enjoy the ride.

NML plays out wide so different to Pigott, Stretton & Duncan plus Sibley is better in the 10 not out wide.

He probably was unfit season considering he missed the first half of it but he would get fitter during preseason.

Would offer a different option out wide to what we currently have.

Not keen to be honest. I don't think he's any good and won't get better. Would be a very underwhelming signing, even in our position

Personally I am at an age where winning isn't everything and I just want to enjoy football and feel we are incredibly drab to watch.

Really? I'm guessing you've never seen England win anything and you just want nice football? I couldn't care less about the style of play, this is a tournament. They don't come around very often, I just want England to win.

Where have you heard that? It wouldn't surprise me for us to be within the limits anyway, they'll have something ready i'm sure

Not itk but I've heard various people saying it. That Keiran Maguire did some calculations and we're in the limits. He's usually right about this financial stuff even if he does hate Derby. You have to remember to factor in the 80m stadium as well

Not really what we deserve. If we fail because of the amortisation previously signed off our arguement will be that had it not be signed off we would have bought/sold players to stay within the limit.

So lets hope we are within the limits still if not a point deduction will ne applied but we will appeal it

Apparently we've already had our accounts revised and we're within ffp limit.

  7. This is a quarter final. We should play our strongest side and respect the opposition.

That being said, I do feel Ukraine are slightly fortunate to be here. I don't even think they can believe what they've done. They won one group game, against North Macedonia the worst team in the tournament, and sneaked through in 3rd place. They then scored a last minute extra time winner against knackered ten man Sweden. It would be a huge disappointment if we didn't progress from here.

England have just got to go out there and match their passion and intensity. Ukraine are decent going forwards but are a soft touch at the back. Our quality should see us through.

Scotland was a weird one off game. Yes it was not great viewing but don't forget we did hit the post twice in that game as well so could easily have got another 1-0.

I don't understand your complaining about Gareth. Do you honestly think there's a better option than Southgate at the moment?

So many England games over the years I have thought 'wish we could just grind out a 1-0 win here' then we end up losing. Just enjoy the tournament for what it is.

I don't think as England fans we're in a position to complain. What have we won?I mean seriously, our history is none existent.

We're notoriously poor in tournaments and get knocked out as soon as we face a decent side.

That changed yesterday. This England team is changing things. This is as good as it's been in a long long time. Just enjoy it. Enjoy the good days. Because they don't come around all the time in football. Derby have taught me that.

I honestly think we’ve looked unconvincing. We’ve got the job done. But it’s been a case of very fine margins - the kind of fine margins that can quickly go against us.

Tonight was a fantastic result but it was a very tight game that could have gone either way.

Like others have said, I’d like to see us play with more authority and more belief. It’s not as if we are winning 1-0 or drawing after a catalogue of missed chances or openings.

The number of quality chances we have created in four games we could count on two hands.

I think the plan is to be that little bit more cautious. You see the way we defend. We get numbers behind the ball. We defend very much as a unit now. If you've seen Chelsea play this season that's basically how they won the champions League.

And I think this is why when we have the ball we've looked sightly unconvincing, we're not trying to overcommit players going forwards. But if we can add a bit more fluency and quicker movement like we did for the two goals, I'm sure you'll look on the performances very differently.

I am taking it one game at a time.

Having watched France v Switzerland last night, I just can’t get excited about our chances yet.

I’ve not come away from a single game thinking we’ve played well. Got the job done, yes. Convincing performance, no.

Some will say the performances are immaterial if we get our hands on the trophy.

But unless we step things up, it’s quite easy to see us getting caught cold.

I actually think we've looked very composed, very assured and professional. That 'bad defence' we apparently have is the only defence to not concede a goal.

While I agree we could do better going forwards with more sustained attacks, I think Southgate has got this team drilled. We seem to have it spot on mentally and physically. Today was the huge test, we passed it. I'm very optimistic of our chances.

Would it be the clever move to start both Bellingham and Sancho? They’ve both supposedly had cracking seasons in Der Bundesliga.

He'll never do that. Don't think Bellingham will play a minute this tournament. Would have liked to see Sancho at some point, but again I don't think he'll start a game.
