I've been on the lash all day in Belper so bear with...not a punch or a kick thrown 😉
Were there innocents hurt...yes there was, Far too many that weren't reported as it was a common occurrence, Heysel, Hillsboro, Bradford saw some horrendous deaths due to Fans, Police and old stadia...who's to blame?
Danny Dyer oh please...a manufactured programme to put him in the limelight of being a "hard case" there were a good few from the Neptune who didn't want the DLF on his programme but some of the more high profile DLF crowd won the day...it was embarrassing...imo. Books were written of embellished journeys through the lives of "football hooligans" the Brimsons from Watford were the 1st to put pen to paper, They looked the part but as they say "the pen is mightier than the sword" both a pair of fantasists.
Life is not worth losing for a game of football...it's mind boggling that this could happen, But lives are lost every weekend in towns up and down the Country...age teaches you one thing...to learn and listen to others, What happened 30-40-50 years ago through football was something we did as others did, Nothing to be proud or ashamed of it was a life that some chose to follow.
I'll end with this...I loved the 70s-80s made so many friends that you could re float the Titanic with them all, Today...I'm just an old fella that's still has his memories...and I'll share them with anyone who would like to hear them.
Enjoy your weekend of what's left...I will ☺️

Any of the oldun's on here go to QPR September 67? That was a nightmare. They were flying top of the 2nd division and had Rodney Marsh playing a blinder every week. We rocked up and played them off the park, winning with a goal from the King. Anyway, the coaches had been parked right outside Loftus Road and when we got back to them there was a battle going on. Bricks, bottles, anything to hand was raining down on the coaches. Managed to dodge across the road and board a coach, ( wrong one but by this time no one gave a crap. Eventually plod arrived an managed to get some kind of order when two big b****** QPR fans got on dripping with blood demanding to know who threw bricks at them. We pointed out that the coach had no opening windows and that their own fans had done it. Our coach made it home but two or three others didn't. I was 15 and just about s******* myself, but it was fun, sort of.
    Sorry it's so long.

That feeling as you're walking to the ground,(home or away) and you hear chanting from a large mob down another side street, but you can't quite make out what they're saying. Then relief, or oh s***, as they exit the street in front of you. Certainly got the adrenalin flowing.

Personally, Bird is a player that's hard to rate.
NML..you see the driving runs, ball carrying, crosses.
    Wilson, the tricks and dribbles.
Nelson, the headers, the brushing players off the ball.
Collins, the work rate, energy...occasional missed chances.
Bird... he's neat, tidy. Elegant almost. Doesn't seem to get about the pitch - but that may be unfair perception,  doesn't score many.  Never one for a ferocious tackle..
I don't notice him that much in games. Doesn't take free kicks. No towering headers.
That dribble yesterday seemed almost out of character as he almost drove with the ball.
    Certainly isn't especially pacey...
So I kinda feel we wouldn't miss him. But every manager has rated him and they know more than me!

He has that no nonsense air about him and I think Cash would like that comparison, assuming he knows who Dave Mackay is. Mackay was quite fearsome, but also a really talented footballer, so I can definitely see similarities. I could certainly see Eiran aspiring to be that sort of player.
As it is, we don't really know Cash's ceiling yet, though some on here use his alleged lack of pace as proof that he'll not be top table. I understand the thinking, but I don't subscribe to the absolute need for express pace (think Fikayo Tomori) at CB if you've a yard or two in your head and an ingrained desire to fight for everything. Nice to have for sure, but not mandatory, as there have been lots of top CBs who weren't any quicker than Eiran and quite a few a lot slower. Let's not forget too that despite 100 games played, he remains a young lad mastering a position in which even the top exponents do not peak until quite late in their playing cycles.
Honestly, I've no idea what the future holds for Eiran, but I'd wager fair sums that he'll has a very good career ahead of him and that he will likely prove himself to be comfortably of Premier League quality. I just pray that when that times comes, it's as Derby skipper, having helped the Mighty Rams secure two promotions and not with some other outfit who just happened to have a few quid while we were still on our uppers.

I find this all rather sad.
I understand and appreciate the skill level at the top of the premiership, but only tend to watch occasionally these days - by that I mean probably only one full match a month or so, usually involving Liverpool or Everton hoping for wins, or Man Utd hoping for a defeat. Intrinsically, the microscopic analysis, now even of every tiny refereeing mistake has, over the past 20  -25 years,  gradually taken away the pure and simple game which I fell in love with as a boy. I resent this, and everything surrounding the greed which permeates it.
I would much prefer us to win the third division or be top half in the second division, watching good honest effort and with a sense of belonging than be in the increasingly plastic world of the Prem.
If you’d told me 25 years ago I’d much prefer to watch the third round of a DP World Tour event or USPGA Tour event live than say Man City v Chelsea on a Saturday tea time I’d have said you were bonkers, but there’s absolutely no contest for me now.
All I want from the Rams is 100% effort and the occasional break out of some good football, with the odd promotion and a decent F A Cup run now and again.
I know , I know, I’m an old git..... but I’ll venture to suggest I’m not alone.

Deserved win, a huge win considering the orher results tonight too. 4 in a row, a clean sheet & TJJ back from injury with a goal.
Shame that despite this people still needlessly need to have digs at players like Bradley & Collins, really what is the point? It is of no benefit to anyone & just shows negativity when its not needed.
We have won 4 in a row, one of the most in form teams in the league, joint best defence & within touching distance of the top 2 without really hitting top performances YET, they will come as confidence grows, Warne himself said this is the time of year his teams start to click & kick on in the league.

You know that’s just plain wrong. Collins is past his best and in any case was and is a league one striker with all the flaws that entails. BUT One thing Collins does do is get in good positions. I can’t defend the missed chances but you know, he should have played Barks in the other week and got slated. Barks did the same but not a whisper. Not on in my book.
Collo isn’t the answer to “Derby’s No 9” but he is a Ram, he’s our player, he works, turns up and does stuff (did anyone notice the the back flick exchange with NML last night ?

I find the toxicity towards him from some quarters simply loathsome. We had the same over Bradley but he seems to have been forgiven by the mob (for now) The same mob that are wanting to crucify the manager and have zero patience and zero understanding of the meaning of support. Some supporters seem to revel in attacking our own for mistakes, bad luck or whatever other something they can use to focus their puerile attitude to sport.
Pompous ? Angry ? Opinionated ? Yes .. I am guilty of all of them but when a player has our shirt on I back them, I don’t set out to trip them up or rejoice in mishaps. And no .. it isn’t “bants” or a “larf”

Properly get pelters for this as 80% seem to have made their mind up over Warne, but anyone else just had enough with the constant negativity towards the players and staff? It’s relentless.
Even after last nights win I’m seeing people try and twist it negatively, overall last night we played faster tempo had chances and won end off, so why the negativity?
Warnes come out and said last night about blocking outside noise out, really think knocking them will help? It’ll only make it worse, 5 in 11 for Collins decent return, what’s booing him and giving him stick going to do? Why can’t we get behind them? We’re in league 1 we won’t have world beaters that will do everything so perfectly.

1 defeat in 10 due to some terrible refereeing it’s not anywhere near as bad as people are making out, it’s as if we’ve won 1 in 10.
I can be as negative as anyone and as annoyed as anyone when we drop points etc but it’s the bigger picture move on we go again, It’s not an easy league like people expect, Sunderland sheff united Ipswich Bolton etc all got stuck for time, and probably only Bolton started in a worse rebuild situation as us…
it’s absolutely draining all the constant ‘get him gone’ ‘whose next’ ‘he’s just a P.E teacher’ I’ve missed 1 away game and 1 home and it’s honestly making me not want to go, Blackpool people singing ‘warne your football is sh*t’ then 5 minutes later singing his name, honestly think if people stop over reacting and seemingly wanting Warne to fail we could get out of this league this year. Rant over roll on the draining stick that’ll come…

After watching Paul Warnes Cambridge interview regarding the Josh Vicars situation, I can't help but feel we have it wrong about what we value in a manager.
I understand football is about results and success, but sometimes, seeing a managers humility and connection as a humanbeing with the players, especially at times of trauma, beats the lot for me.
I've been critical of Warne, as have a lot of us, but I would love nothing more than for Warne to get us promoted. I know his "let's be mates" mentality can be a bit cringe, and his 352 does your head in, but you can tell he really cares about those around him, and I would much rather be in the trenches with a man like Warne than someone coming here for a quick cheque.
I'm crossing everything that things go right on the pitch, but regardless of that, I just wanna commend him for the person he is.

    Salute to you Mr Warne.

BobdeBilder reacted to BathRam72 in So who would we have then?
Again. If Derby did decide to get another manager in, we would be in the same position we were in this time last year.
New manager who will have his own style, someone else's team who the new manager would have to work with, decide who fits his style and who doesn't.
A January window with no/limited funds.
He will then build his team from summer, probably have a slow start and here we will be in September 2024 with the same people calling for his blood because they are entitled to perfect football and instant success.

I have said it before and I will say it again, it is the constant changing of managers that has partially gone towards the situation we find ourselves in.
