Nope. Can't construct a reply that wouldn't be construed as political, so here's a cat emoji ? and consider yourself put right!

It's OK chap - I didn't really do a very good job of expressing what I meant. Something about the more wealth you amass the more some people seem to ignore risk. But death comes to us all - it doesn't care how much money we have.

Anyway - I'll stick to the Jokes thread ?

  2. Another take on both the Leicester and Cardiff tragedies is one that will probably also get me some grief, so I don't mean this with any disrespect to the deceased, but is there not a point an element of these deaths was so needless, yet driven by wealth and status and entitlement

Leicester owner flies helicopter from Leicester to London, when there is a regular train service that takes about an hour and if he wants privacy could have gone by car. But he's rich enough to own a helicopter so forget that. Granted any form of transport is not safe, but I suspect helicopter is considerably less safe than train or car.

And with Sala it's just bonkers that he tried to get from France to Cardiff by some kind of light aircraft?! What was so urgent that he couldn't just get the Ryanair? He's moving football club, not escaping wartime occupied France.

Just so sad that we all strive for as much money as possible like it solves every problem, but it can't buy your life ?

Really nice touch by Ronaldo yesterday...

Apart from his chronic lack of self-awareness, sensitivity and general all round brains - what I don't get is "who took this photo?"

It's a photo of him taking a selfie, but it's not the selfie. The selfie will be on his phone. Yet he tweeted this, so whoever took it must have sent it to him first and he preferred it to the actual selfie?

Must be awfully worrying for his friends and family, hope there is a good outcome.  What you say is true and being a touch cold this could be a real blow for Cardiff in their circumstances.

Indeed - we're stressing over whether Ashley Cole is going to be able to run fast enough and this has happened to their £15m new signing ?

we aren’t judgemental and are understanding... pretty much everything the professionals aren’t.

because we don't have to do it day after day, year after year. And we don't have to deal with lack of staff, resources, funding, mis-management, unrealistic targets etc etc

I bet almost all of us have a story about that **** in the health service that didn't treat us/a friend/a family member as we might have hoped. It makes sense. When we're at our most vulnerable we need them the most. We have understandably high expectations. But if we're being non-judgemental we should probably extend that to "the professionals" who are doing a very tough job under difficult circumstances. They may have just been having a bad day...

I think at the very least it's valid to question the medical model of mental illness, as this tends to frame the way in which people understand their experience.

Fine if that's not what anyone wants to discuss here, but it's good to be aware that there are other, generally more empowering, ways of making sense of life.

Yes - not saying we shouldn't talk about it, but maybe needs a separate thread and keep this one to more personal experiences and a safe place to chat about our own mental health. I think the people who need a thread like this the most will likely be deterred from posting if it just becomes a big debate about the nuances of health provision

Not sure this is the thread for opening up this wider debate however.

I think with respect to those that started the thread and have used it for positive means, it's not really the place to start debating that. I'm not even very comfortable with the turn it has taken in the last couple of pages.

Not saying anyone's views are invalid, but I don't feel it's the place to be saying contentious stuff IMO

  8. I'm watching Tin Star on Channel 4 (although this may be old news as it was on Sky Atlantic a year ago). Good kind of Fargo/Twin Peaks/Breaking Bad feel to it, and Tim Roth is excellent at swearing

Has anyone watched the Narcos Mexico spin-off? Any good?

I've recently had a mini-meltdown and told a circle of friends that I'm sick of begging for attention so I will leave them alone, and they should leave me alone. I thought that would be hurtful and I'd be sad, but I'm not. It just gives me the freedom to do what I want without any guilt. Another circle of friends are making me feel like doing similar with them, and if that happens, I will be totally isolated and friendless and the sad thing is that I think I want this.

Tough to know what to say to that - but if you've been open and honest and laid this out to friends, and they aren't helping you, then they are the wrong sort of friends

That's not slag them off, but you talk about circles of friends and I find that i have different types of friends. The ones you'd trust with your life, the ones that are great to go out drinking with, the ones you used to work with and are nice enough but you don't have a lot in common with, etc etc. Like you say, I'm sure they all have a ton of their own poo to worry about, and if that means they don't have time to be there for you, then you need to look elsewhere for help. Trying to force them to care and then feeling let down when they don't is a horrible place to be so you shouldn't feel bad about taking positive action to leave them alone.

I guess you need to know that there is another circle of friends on here who don't know you at all in the real sense of the word, but are always here to listen and not make you feel alone.  You did the right thing posting. If it ever gets this bad - always share your thoughts here and one (or more) of us bell-ends will try and help in whatever small way we can

  10. I had one hidden too - but it's appeared now, so I guess it was just awaiting moderation. That one from Sawley has just appeared too

Makes sense, as it's a thread that could have gone off any minute. As it stands I don't think there is a lot else to say about the flag in question, so will probably slip down the page

Not clicking to see what point you’re attempting to make, the last time I clicked one of those I ended up punching myself in the face.

I read it for you - you won't like it, so probably a wise move

TLDR; Apple Stores ruthlessly train their sales people to maximise profit and yet don't pay them commission. The whole sales experience is stage-managed and often people that pay through the nose for tech they don't need, or can get cheaper elsewhere are mugged right off

    Not exactly news

My boss said if I was anymore laid back I'd be countersunk!

My Ma in Law said she was looking forward to dancing on my grave. I said fine I'm being buried at sea.

Anyway she passed away yesterday of suffocation- she forgot to inhale when she was yelling at me.

Define Accident: Mother in law slips into the pool.

    Define Tragedy: She can swim.

Frank Carson wants his joke book back ?
