Batteries are proving to be outlasting the rest of the car

I was just reading Elton's latest brain-fart though. He's decided that Tesla can somehow harness all the compute power of the Teslas sat on driveways while not being driven, as some sort of grid computing network... to do "stuff"

Aside from this maybe annoying the owners who have charged their car for travel, and not for waking up to find it needs charging again because it's been doing "stuff" all night - this will also surely reduce the battery life long term. Or at least totally invalidate current battery life projection figures

Still - it gets the investors excited and maybe props the share price up a bit longer eh?

This would be amazing, however it won’t happen. I was fortunate enough to shake David’s hand last Sat, and it was mentioned then. Stephen was with him and said there was no bus planned/wont happen. 😢

With respect it's not up to @Day - it's up to Mr Clowes!

I only picked the white horse as it's on the bus route.

Obviously, if we're all gonna have to drive, then yeah, Joiners is fine.  😁

I haven't got a driving license, is it OK if I just lie on your back seat?

  4. YES!

As I said in the promotion celebrations thread

May Day weekend upon us, surely it would be a great idea. (players can't have booked holidays as the play-offs were still a vague possibility so should still be around)

    1) Allow the fans to show their appreciation one more time

    2) Allow the players and staff another chance to soak in their achievement and feel the love

    3) boost the hospitality takings in town

    What's not to like?

And yet over an Facebook you see people saying that an open-top bus celebration would be "an embarassment" because we "only came second". Yet we had a bus when we finished third in 2006/07 and went up via the play-offs...

  5. You can bet that Clowes plan does not involve extending PWs contract any time soon

He hired Warne specifically for his experience in getting teams out of L1. A very canny move that worked

No reason to suggest that Clowes will suddenly start taking stupid risks in the Championship with a manager unproven in that league

My guess would be that Clowes keeps faith in PW until it becomes clear that it's not working, at which point he will execute his Plan B and get an experienced proven Championship manager in

PW is effectively in Rosenior's shoes

So do we think there will be an open top bus through derby? I'd imagine the streets would be packed.

I hope so - with May Day weekend upon us, surely it would be a great idea.

  7. After the excitement of the football, we ended up coming home and watching "Strays" on Sky Cinema

A live action/CGI comedy film about talking dogs, but none of the feel-good family film factor that you might expect. Full of swearing, jokes about humping stuff and some proper laugh out loud/gross moments. Script was good enough that I didn't really notice the dogs mouths being animated. Jamie Foxx and Will Ferrell voice the two main characters

If you have dogs you will find it hilarious

    promotion/10

i had mo idea about the decriminalising of shop lifting .. wtf ?!!!

so what happens .. people are allowed to to just thieve.. surely thats the first step to a lawless society .. christ

It's not like they announced it as a great new change in the law, it's just a consequence of rising inflation, increasing poverty and total lack of investment in public services. All driven by a system being rigged for the benefit of the super rich. Effectively there aren't enough police to warrant dealing with (relatively) low value shoplifting. Same with almost all low level crime. But of course the game is to then make it a reason to have people hate the poor - "look at them, stealing with impunity!" I think we all know which people in society steal the most money from the system and it ain't poor people!

  9. I see Elton has promised more undeliverable stuff in an unachievable timeline to try and stem the tanking of the share price. And investors seem to be lapping it up as usual. How many times does he get away with this move?? It's astonishing. Fair play to him!

The problem with VAR having those lines on the pitch and checking to see whether player A has a bigger foot than player B comes down to the frame the decide to use as reference.  If we're going to say a player is 5mm offside, exactly how sure you are of the millisecond the ball has been played?

VAR was bought into correct the obvious errors, not bring offside decisions down to ridiculous margins - especially given the fact that it is impossible to tell the exact time the ball has left the foot of the player making the pass.  A quick fix would be to thicken the lines used and unless you can see daylight between them, its onside.

You know if you watch slowmo footage of someone kicking a ball, that the foot touches the ball, the ball compresses at the point of impact and then the momentum force transfers into the ball and the ball, uncompresses and changes direction, and then contact between the foot and the ball is lost. This process all takes about 0.2 seconds. Depending on the frame rate of the video footage, you could be looking at anything from 5 to 10 frames in that time.

There is no way at that distance that you can see the precise moment that a gap appears between the foot and the ball, so you can't possibly choose the "correct" frame. At which point you can argue that sub-conscious bias has to come into play. That Coventry decision could have been interpreted either way but it went the way of the "big" team

For me, the only solution is to introduce a rule that says, where there is doubt/borderline footage - just give the advantage to the attacking team and accept that VAR can never be a precise science. As the saying goes "it will all even itself out over a season"

That's the only way to preserve the entertainment factor. Otherwise you just kill the game and goal celebrations become a thing of the past

Glad someone else has noticed this.

What Peterborough and Bolton do should be completely irrelevant.

    Absolutely

They both know that there is little point trying to prepare for and play a game that has an very teeny slight chance might end up with an automatic promotion. They'd only do that if it were in their hands (ie no matter what Derby did on Saturday, they could finish second by winning) - but it's not. So that would be a crazy tactic

Realistically the only thing on their minds psychologically is that they will both finish 3rd and 4th, and so they won't play each other in the Play-Off semis. The only way they can sensibly treat Saturday is as a warm-up game for the Play-Off final at Wembley

I guess you have to choose one way or the other. We have to have a day off between episodes 🤣

Regarding electric cars, the two things that still put me off at the moment, despite improvements, is the purchase cost and the range.

Add to that the availability of charging capacity. Not too bad if you have a driveway and a home charge point, but even then you've got to work out your options for long journeys. So you plot a charging station, arrive there and it's already being used. Wait 30 minutes for a free charger and then wait another 30 minutes for yours to charge. Suddenly your journey has taken an hour longer, and you've eaten a whole packet of krispy kremes

we're on episode 4, but don't think I could binge it. Every 30 minute episode is mentally exhausting!

Yes that's what my wife said to me when i found out i couldn't go - didn't know they did them on Saturdays!  But why did they need to change the k.o. time from 3pm , ridiculous , my shift doesn't finish till 3pm so i cant go! But if you need to get your money back from your ticket i would buy for my lad. All the best.

My missus is taking our lad instead of me - no point him missing out!

The thing is that it's a small bowel MRI so you have to drink a litre of stuff that swells your gut for the scan and then an hour later you're urgently on and off the khazi for the rest of the day. I didn't fancy my chances with that at Pride Park even if the scan is finished in time.

All the cubicles are full of the stone island lads doing coke these days anyway 😂

Bustlers showing it as well, be a good shout!

Bustler also has a record fair on at the same time...

Annoyingly I've had tickets for the game since they came out but now can't make it as I have an MRI scan appointment come through for Saturday morning and I can't really cancel it. Some things are more important than some overpaid prats kicking a ball around 😞

Didn't we play great football under McClaren and Lampard and end up losing millions and millions of pounds every season, eventually leading to us being put under restrictions and nearly going bust

Indeed - remember the much vaunted "Derby Way" that MM espoused? He said he would rather we play the entertaining "Derby Way" than grind out the type of sh*thousery 1-0 wins that we saw under Billy Davies.

Easy for him to say while he was bankrolling the club but in retrospect, makes you want to weep.

    All great small cars

The mini and the Fiat 500 maybe, but all those others look big to me. Probably just because generally cars seem to be trending towards the ugly big blocky thing, and no longer compact and sleek. Even hatchbacks seem designed to look like 4x4 these days

    As I said - I'm not a fan of cars anyway 😂
