  1. Just hoping, after last night, that we are able to bring in a striker to back up mcgoldrick.

Dobbin is always a breath of fresh air when he comes on and is good for assists but collo is struggling to either assist or score for the past couple of months.

Not much choice out there in January with our pay rates combined with the lack of quality available so I'm not particularly hopeful of it actually happening.

Disappointing tonight.  Don’t think we gave a great account of ourselves. Too passive at times but maybe they were too good. Thought we started to rough them up a bit just before half time but other than that they were comfortable. Agree the timing of the goals against the run of play both times killed the game.

Collins is getting grief, he was outclassed by good defenders. I remember when we played Chelsea in the cup and Gary Cahill made Chrissy Martin at the peak of his powers look second rate, and then did the same again when England played Scotland.

We move on, I won’t be there but look forward to seeing us have a bigger attendance v Morecambe - that’s shows what a draw West Ham are (not much) and shows what really matters. Red dogs would’ve sold out tonight and had 15000 on Saturday against Morecambe.

? for Max but doesn’t sound promising. Ruined the night.

I don't think Collins has had a good game in months to be honest, against L1 defenders, never mind prem players..this was no different i.m.o.

  3. Just back in....

A fairly drab game lacking a spark and I don't the boys hearts were in it particularly, especially after the first goal.

Couldn't really fault our players other than the hopeless and ineffective Collins once again...other than his enthusiasm,I really don't know what he offers the team?

He's always in the wrong place, doesn't win headers, doesn't hold the ball, doesn't control the when he does occasionally come into contact with it,has a terrible first touch and worst of all, never scores from open play.

He's like waghorn without any of his limited ability.

If only Dobbin had a shot in him,I don't think we'd see Collins start another game.

Anyway, the league's all I'm interested in,this was a sideshow that, with our limited squad,we didn't really need to be involved any further in.

Just to get us back on topic, having had a good sleep, I would like to say I am still not completely sold on Paul Warne.

I can’t knock what is being achieved in terms of recent momentum, nor the fact that he (and his team lest we forget) has obviously galvanised the dressing room. The latter in itself does however make me think there is much more to him than I first thought, as to get ‘Liam’s Squad’ onboard so swiftly could have been difficult - although giving credit to Liam he signed up some good professionals.

l think I am also warming to Paul on the basis that I have stopped listening to him for a few months. This technique has also worked well in a long marriage.

My reservation remains style of football. I don’t watch as much as most on here, so my sample size is low comparatively. But just taking Tuesday as an example, perhaps a classic example, we had a team on paper miles better than the team we were playing, but still chose to  take them on in a game of kick and rush. Yes I know the weather and pitch evened things out a bit, but we won in the end not because of 90 minutes of huff and puff, but because of a couple of moments of quality from a wideman involving holding the ball, beating a man or two, and delivering a decent cross. McG and NML took their chances well, reflecting again that they remain Championship quality forward players.

I still wonder if Paul can get us playing what I call attractive football, passing the ball consistently up through the channels. I don’t doubt he will get us up, in fact I am sure I will be cheering him on at Wembley come the end of the season. Time will tell I guess. In the meantime I will keep posting any reservations I have on here, and saving up all my positivity for when I can get my arse off the sofa to go to a match. Perhaps that shouldn’t be too long (what do you think @Boycie?).

I would have to say, that you need to watch more of how derby now play.....

Derby v Bolton was more indicative of our style when we play a game on a pitch that doesn't resemble a ploughed field.

I've watched every game this season and I have been impressed how we have developed into a high energy, high pressing tram with some lovely football being played.

Warne is nothing but adaptable though and can turn his hand at playing the rough and tumble sides as well as the league's high flyers.

I barely disagree with anything you say. But, were the Charlton, Shrewsbury and Fleetwood away games not a transitional period from "our club is dead" to "we still exist and can compete"?? I think Rosenior deserves the benefit of a transitional period too (the Lincoln away game was obviously bad though).

Also we did face Plymouth under Rosenior, and we lost in the last minute due to a catastrophic Cashin error.

My only point is that we started decently under Rosenior, and I will stand up to anyone who tries to downplay his role in our success this season.

Why,who cares now,it's the distant past.

    Onwards and upwards

  6. I'm running the Stafford half marathon on the 12th of March on behalf of the Derby County community trust and I'd really appreciate any donations towards it.

The trust does a huge amount for the Derbyshire and East Staffordshire communities and is a really worthwhile cause.

It will be my first half but I'm aiming for a 2 hour finish time which hopefully won't be too bad for a 55 year old!

Donations can be submitted via my just giving page on the following link.

    Thankyou.

Personally I think Warne has a bit more about him as a motivator than Sgt Major Ostrich.

I think, should it happen, Martin could and should thrive under Warne and Warne's clear ability to motivate and inspire.

I never ever ever ever thought I'd see David McGoldrick being a star player in any team at any level. If Warne got the same peak level out of Martin, if could be amazing at this level.

Having the two of them would be very good insurance for the run in to the playoffs...

Neither are quick or sprint about the pitch like the headless Collins but both possess football intelligence and are constantly on the swivel to deliver the killer pass.

We would be a better more secure team with back to for didzy.

Got a Cupra Born on the way (ordered last July and was delayed in November until end of March). Really looking forward to it but not looking forward to VW Groups latest round of touchscreen control everything!

It is crap, especially on the born because they put haptic controls on the steering wheel too (the formentors have normal ones)

Vw group are going back to actual physical buttons and dials on the updates

  9. We have a Cupra formentor plug in hybrid now,it's a crossover so sits higher than a standard hatchback but lower than a suv.

Nippy but comfy too and we generally run in ev mode as our commute is less than 30 miles a day....60 mpg in hybrid mode on longer journeys.

The only downside to the car is having everything being run through the touchscreen including the heating controls which is a pta!

CM never looked the fittest of players and hasn’t featured in their squad for more than a month. He doesn’t fit our pressing style and there is no way that he will be playing for us while PW is in charge

    My opinion, not fact!

Neither does mcgoldrick,it's his football intelligence that makes him such an asset.

If he was injured,a fit cm would be a good stand in.

  11. Martin is the opposite of collins, bless him.

Collins runs around a lot and a achieves very little whilst Martin achieves a lot by moving very little...

It would be nice to have another striker who can play with back to the goal and win headers apart from Mcgoldrick too,I haven't seen Collins win an header since he came to the club,I don't know how he manages it.
