I've just found this little snippet of information on a Portsmouth site - I believe this was around the time Nixon mentioned we had an agreed loan signing, but he was going to start pre-season at his club. It could be nothing, but if it is something - that's one hell of a signing.

It maybe does make some sense as he's been injured for a while, so perhaps want him to finish his physio before shipping him out.

And they have a new manager whos come in so probably wants to look at everyone. Be some signing this.

Can’t seem to share it but sure there’s a new report from local journalist for Heervenen saying he’s a serious option for them

    https://lc.nl/sport/SC-Heerenveen-progressief-op-transfermarkt-29118369.html

Can't read it without subscribing. But I managed to turn my phone onto Airplane mode first time and I was able to read it.

I don't know if I'm going blind but I cannot see his name anywhere in the article.

If he's got a good agent then I'd be thinking Wolves (who've tracked him in the past), or newly promoted Leicester or Southampton, or maybe dirty Leeds who were very keen. Or follow the route that's worked well for some English youngsters and go to the Bundesliga. He should definitely be looking up. And for any team that takes him on, with no transfer fee or compensation, it's pretty risk free. And they will know what he once looked clearly capable of becoming.

I remember Cocu drooling over his ability. When Paul Warne joined I wrote to him and said the way to get promotion was to build the team around Sibley. To Warne's credit he took the time to reply, but was rather non-committal. But I stand by my belief.

Mate Wolves might have been linked when he burst onto the scene with that hattrick and looked a real prospect. But that was 4 years ago.

I am not sure what you have seen him to think he is good enough to play in the Prem. He will end up lower half champ or league one.

Alfie May would have been one I'd have gone for, knows where the net is.

Birmingham are clearly throwing money about.

Sorry mate, have to disagree here.

Warne said last season  (in the Q&A I believe) that signing someone like Jonson Clarke-Harris makes no sense. Chucking a decent fee in and the money over a 3 year deal, there is no sell on value at all so makes no business sense.

Clarke Harris is 29. Alfie May is 31.

Spending just shy of £1 million on a player that has had 3 good seasons in League One as the best in his career. We would probably have to give him at least 3 years on id say 20k a week. Which would be just shy of £4 million on over 3 years. Would make no sense at all really.

Not to mention there is no guarantee of him being able to do it in the championship with much better defenders to deal with.

Just read a story on newsnow stating we were chasing Alfie May but have been beaten to his signature by Birmingham.

Absolutely no chance we were in for Alfie May.

I read Birmingham are paying just under £1 million for him.

He's 31 tomorrow and has never played above league one.

Jerry Yates has been top goalscorer for his club in his last 2 seasons in the Championship, where both teams have struggled (Blackpooll more than Swansea, but Swansea were poor last season)

Jerry Yates is also 4 years younger than Alfie May.

But I have genuinely seen some fans moaning about Jerry Yates and then in the same breath saying we should have been in for Alfie May.

Be nice to have a “Hold up striker “ , when we are under a lot of pressure (Say away to Luton) . When the ball keeps coming back . Young John O’Hare would do nicely.

Dying breed these are now unfortunately, the big number 9s. Struggling to even think of many out there.

There are different ways, people running into the channels with pace, pressing high forcing the opposition into mistakes can also alleviate pressure on the back 4.

    That training gear is horrendous

Yeah i'm not quite sure why the ram isn't black cos you cant see it at all. Its in black as well in the club shop and is much nicer

To be fair, the green one does look nice on the website

    image.png.13e49c2b20d275c023544915bec5b6da.png

But in those photos with the sponsor and not being able to see the Ram makes it look s****.

  8. Alan Browne turned down 3 year deal at Preston and now a free agent. Would happily take him on a free.

Would also expect Yates & Jackson to be announced later today.

You would imagine they have been at Moor Farm today doing media etc. Probably no point getting them in over the weekend to do it when then are in today.

  9. These are the kind of players Brighton sign for peanuts and then sell for millions 🤣.

    Complete unknowns.

It might not work, but it might.

    This is one AZ opinion:-

Very good technical player who is good at dribbling and passing. Dominant player on the ball. He should improve his Goals and assists to become a more complete player and I am curious how he will do in a more physical competition like the championship. But good player overall.

  10. 15 minutes ago, Gerry Daly said:

Yes. I think Leopards don't change their spots, certainly not by the age of 30. Track record and stats don't count so much for young players, but for somebody on a free at 30 years of age the stats are telling. He has played the vast majority of his career below championship level and that's bargain bucket for a Championship club. He sounds like a poor man's Craig Fagan to me, another wide player with a terrific work rate. But as you say, we will see

That the same Craig Fagan that was in our team that got promoted?

  11. 15 minutes ago, Gerry Daly said:

We are still shopping in the bargain bucket then

Genuinely mate, how many times have you seen him play? Have you just took one look at his stats and thought bargain bucket?

We have no idea what he will bring to this team at all. Other than what Ipswich fans have said, who watch him week in week out.

I remember being excited when we spent £6 million on Bradley Johnson and I wasn't even remotely excited when we signed Ebou Adams.

But look at how both of them worked out.

I just never understand why players are judged before they have kicked a ball for us.

Warne has said he likes players who can play different positions and evidently he can. Lets see who else we bring in.

Jerry Yates the same - If he had just bagged 15 goals for Blackpool and got relegated, we went up and signed him, the vast majority would be happy with it. But cos of the spell at Swansea, where it hasnt worked out (still their top scorer mind) then some of our fans have turned their nose up.

We are not shopping with millions to spend anymore, those days are gone and very nearly ended us.

There is still 2 months of the window to go, lets see who we get in and what we spend and watching them play before making our judgements.

  12. Someone asked Ipswich fans on twitter what he is like:-

"Works his b******s off. Don't play him up top on his own. Id say the most successful he's been for us is playing RW, he is rapid and will track back"

"He's rapid and will put in 100% and will stretch defences"

"If Warne can work to his strengths, he will be a very good player for you. He can play on the touchline and despite having been a striker for most of his career he can put a good ball in as well. Also works as part of a 2 up top"

"You'll love him. Work rate of a husky"

"Use his attributes and he's great. As said, rapid, should make defenders very wary. Will work really hard and can pull players away with him to create space"

If its 3 years. In 3 years time he will the same age as Collins is now. So not that bad. I think it will more than likely ne a 2 year with he option of a third.

As with anyone, I will judge them when I see them in a Derby shirt.

  13. Does anyone know if what is available online is the same as whats in the shop?

Cos kids ones have nearly sold out (well my sons age has) and has been since about 9.30.

Surely they would not be that short of stock!?

  14. Looking at the replies to the announcement from Oxford he's leaving, the general consensus from Oxford fans is that he was there two years and for 1.5 of them he was anonymous. Then went on a mad run the last few months. 10 goals in 62 appearances.

Kind of player we have signed before after a purple patch, Blackman, Waghorn etc. Who have had one good spell.

I'd much rather Dembele. Younger, higher ceiling.

I don't know how realistic either signing would be, but I think we should target players with re-sale value. Iversen is coming up to 27 but would probably be a loan, Mat Ryan is 32.
I'd be more inclined to go for Arthur Okonkwo or (stealing from the Rams Talk podcast) Sam Tickle from Wigan. Both 22. Either could go for a lot of money in a couple of seasons.

Good shout. We could sign his sister Tess for Ewe Rams too 🙂

They absolutely do need looking at, because when you consider the knock-on affect this is going to have on youth development and player welfare in this country, it has the potential to be a massively destructive force.

Premier League clubs will start hoovering up more talent and hold bigger academy squads, because they will be able to use these as financial pawns later down the line because of the 'loophole' so even for players who probably aren't going to make it at the top level, i.e. Dobbin, then you can still move them on for big money because of an accounting policy. Kellyman was showing a lot of potential so that makes sense, but he joins a Chelsea squad that's deeper in young talent that any other club in the entire world.

The Premier League really need to consider the ramifications of their FFP model because this really is a toxic and clubs using young players as pawns for accounting reasons, self-imposed accounting reasons, isn't doing anything. The only way you can stop the ludicrous politics in football is bring in a hard-cap, otherwise you have all different teams working to all different parameters, pushing to compete and using any workaround they can find - to what end?

I could not agree more with this mate

No it doesn't. It highlights the creative measures teams are going to in order to comply with the PSR in the Premier League.

Yeah it does and fair play to them. These PSR rules need looking at as they only suit the top 6.

Funnily enough the clubs that were mentioned by Sky as having to sell players before June were Villa, Everton and Chelsea (amongst others) You have that Tim Iroegbunam who has played 12 times for Villa in 2 years go for £10 million, Dobbin who can't get in a struggling Everton tam move to a champions league club in Aston Villa for £10 million and then you have Omari Kelleyman, who is 18 years old, played under 21s football and has a current market value of £850k move to Chelsea for £19 million all before the end of June. Then you have Maatsen going from Chelsea to Villa for £37.5 million.

Iroegbunam will probably not get in Evertons side and I have more chance of starting for Villa next season than Dobbin does.

All players are classed as homegrown and are all moving before the end of June.

The fact they have to do this to satisfy these PSR rules highlights that they are a bit of a joke and need to be seriously looked at.

...apparently Percy [Daily Telegraph] has posted there will be some news tomorrow. Percy I know has a source in DCFC and is hence often right....but generally I'd say announcements aren't made on a Sunday....

Ive looked on Percy's twitter and there's no mention of anything to do with us?

Can’t see beyond the pay wall. What’s all this about then?

Innovative or silly (or nothing to do with football and this is about cricket and I’ve misunderstood!!?)

Have you seen the kit with the main sponsor on it? or are you talking about the shorts and sleeve sponsors?

replica kits don’t come with shorts and sleeve sponsors. How is no one getting this? I feel like I’ve slipped into an alternate reality.

Mate I was thinking the same. But that many people are moaning about it, it's made me question myself 😂.

People saying they aren't getting the shirt because of a sleeve sponsor when the sleeve sponsor doesn't come on the shirt 😭😭
