How much would Wednesday want for him? My main concern is we need a centre midfielder who can get about and I hope he wouldn't use up all the remaining budget we have.

Maybe we're thinking Jensen Weir won't take much budget up on loan....

Roberts joined before the 2022 season started and until DC bought the Club in Oct/Nov, we were heading for extinction. I've not read anywhere that Reading are in as dire a position as we found ourselves.

When Roberts joined us DC had taken over.

DC took over in July. Early July at that. The club even tweeted the year anniversary.

Reading are in a mess at the minute.

Scott Hogan, and Lukas Jutkiewicz both available from Blues according to Nixon. I’d have them over Sharp and Waghorn. Also says Alex Pritchard might be available from Sunderland. A good No 10 in league 1.

Scott Hogan started yesterday and Jutkiewicz came on for him.

So unless Nixon knows something, which is unlikely, doesn't look like they are available.

Pritchard came on today too. Mowbray said he's planning on rotating them..

I'd have all of them here in a heartbeat but I can't see it

They all had offers.  Are we including Washington with a bad knee.  Nelson who was released by Blackpool.  Maybe 3 of the 8.  I suspect they choose the club over the rhetoric.

Christ. Washington "with a bad knee" You mean a footballer who required a small op on his knee and is now fit?

And Nelson wasn't released by Blackpool. He signed till the end of the season and his contract ran out.

Which even if he was released by Blackpool does being released by them mean you don't get offers from other clubs?

There is still just under 4 weeks of the window left.

One forward player? Who we've promised to pay up money for if we go up. Maybe the forward players are more concerned with how we attack?

    Two if you coming Waghorn.

If I was a centre forward watching us with the amount of balls we put in the box I'd be thinking I would score goals.

We created chances yesterday. We just didn't take them.

If this said player turns up at another League 1 club, that will only reinforce my view that Warne couldn't attract a fly to a cows a******* and that his style of play isn't attractive to other clubs loaning out their younger players. No positives in that at all, all negatives.

Really odd outlook that is. We've signed 8 players. All of them would have had offers from other club. A lot of them have said how after speaking to Warne they decided to choose Derby.

But if we miss out on someone then Warne can't attract a player.

  7. Just listened back to Warne's Radio Derby interview after the game yesterday.

Looks like the signing in the building is Waghorn but he said hopefully one in next week too.

It's clearly not going to be Michael Smith (really not sure why we tried to get him on loan, no way would Wednesday agree to that)

Rhodes wasn't in Huddersfield's squad yesterday. But if the reports are true, the money he is on at Huddersfield is not something he wants to give up.

I take what Nixon says with a pinch of salt. I honestly can't see us trying to sign Sharp. But we'll see I suppose.

I can't even think of anyone else we should even be in for. I know we've been linked with Godden and Ladapo but there's no chance of either in my opinion.

I've just got a feeling it might be someone we've not been linked with.

Then there's a midfielder. I can't even think of anyone who is available or a loan possibility.

  8. Morning everyone.

Before the game on Saturday Warne mentioned he wants to add to midfield and up top and we're close to doing that.

Obviously Waghorn appears to be signing tomorrow. Which has been spoken about completely seperate from other signings. By that I mean he's been training and mentioned by name we've offered him a deal and he's agreed etc. Warne also said he see's Waghorn as a 10.

When Warne has said that we're close to bolstering our midfield and striking options I've took that as close to signing others not including Waghorn.

But do you lot think when he's said we're close he's actually on about Waghorn?

Brilliant first post. Really well put and totally agree.

Think we were unlucky and not too concerned yet. My main gripe was the midfield.  Hourihane is so sluggish at times, Bird really frustrates me  just doesn't do enough and is too safe. Smith is fine but not creative in any way and with NML lost in the 10 role there is a huge gap in the middle of the park. Tactically it looked very poor at times.

Agree with this. I was so disappointed in Bird today.

I openly criticised him last season. Felt he didn't offer anything, didn't contribute and you watch him play for 90 minutes and you don't know what he's done. He scored once last season which happened to be a worldie. But for a player some of our fans think is worth £3 million and capable of playing in the Championship. I expected a lot more.

Gave him a clean slate and was really impressed with him in pre season (I know it's pre season but you can only judge what's infront if you) I thought he looked lean, fit and like he had come back with a new purpose.

But today it was the Bird of last season. There were times he didn't look interested. Half heartedly closing people down. I don't know if I'm seeing something that's not there. But to me it seems like he's pretty disappointed that we haven't let him leave. (I can't remember who said it on here but in the Hull paper they said the words from Birds camp was he is keen to come to Hull. One poster rightly pointed out this would have come from him or his agent). If we could sign two midfielders who would contribute more in terms of goals etc I would happily let Bird leave. But we literally have nothing else.

Today just confirmed to me what I already knew and what Warne will know. We're short. That midfield isn't right. I don't think we'll get one. But we need an enforcer. The one CDM who just sits there to allow Hourihane and another creative midfielder to get forward. We're crying out for it in my opinion. If we sold Bird I'd take Woods and hopefully then sign another midfielder who can chip in.

I thought Collins was ok today. Hold up play was good. But again it was Collins of last season. Towards the end of the game he's in the left wing back spot. Just stay in the box. Ward whipped some lovely balls in that a centre forward should be getting on the end of.

I actually thought we were lucky not to be 3 down at half time. They were clean through again just after they scored and I'm not sure how their lad missed that header.

But for all their play. Our mistakes gave them both of their goals.

I've seen people mention we don't have the personnel to play 352. I agree in part. I think the 3 at the back are fine. Wing backs are fine. But we haven't got the midfield or attacking options to suit it. Which I know Warne is keen to address.

I'm hoping we bring another 3 in on top of Waghorn to be honest. But time will tell.

Wednesday boss says Smith going nowhere.

    Back to the drawing board.

Quite a contradictory headline that. Cos nowhere in the article does the manager say he's not going anywhere. Just says he wants players in.

Sheffield Star are reporting that we have come forward with a loan bid.

Maybe he's the loan Warne is on about.

Could be a they sign another striker and he’s free to leave

I think they'll let him go regardless really. The fact they didn't bring him on tonight speaks volumes. Even got the last 10 minutes or after they went 2-1 down.

Seem to have enough there. Gregory, Fletcher, Windass that new lad that came on. Even without a striker he's 5th choice.

You would imagine he wouldnt be in the squad tonight if theres legs in this

If he's one of the ones Warne has said is very close. Then you'd imagine he wouldn't be.

But on the other hand if he's still there player and they want to play him they can.

Might be on the bench ..
