Yeah probably. But you'd imagine that the wages freed up from his departure will pay for 2 players wages at this level

We've had signings before that have been exciting but ended up being massively underwhelming. (Butterfield, Johnson) off the top of my head.

Then equally we have had signings that have not been exciting and have gone on to be really good players for us. 

Like any signing we should just judge him when he's played for us.

So we've got 4 out of the supposed 5 signed.

Pre season starts on Thursday.

So potentially one more before Thursday?

Who will it be?

Or does anyone think we'll have more than one in this week?

Couldn't agree more with this.

I said when we signed Collins that his seasons scoring goals at this level was when he played in a front 2. 

It became apparent quite early on that he isn't a target man and really can't play up top on his own.

You cannot question his work rate at all. Infact, I felt at times last season that he needed to be more selfish and get in the box more. But he tended to drift to deep to try and get involved. I can't really remember him ever missing a sitter or us creating a load of chances for him in a game.

If Warne plays 352 next season. I really do think Collins could thrive. I wouldn't write him off at all just yet.

Tbf that Kane Wilson is at Bristol City. A few days ago he was rumoured to be signing for Bolton for a six figure fee. Nothing has happened though.

Maybe we have asked for £2 million plus Wilson for Knight?

It's not a big gamble, they are gaining experience all the time, they are physically developing too. How much can non-Prem teams expect from their U21s/Academy players?!

We can offer them contracts all we want but we cant make them sign one.

How much would we get from selling them now, as opposed to developing them further and hoping we get promoted and can view them as Championship players to potentially sell.

Easier said than done though isn't it.

What if Knight has said he won't be signing a new deal next year so it's sell now or he goes for nothing?

Same with Bird. His contract is up next year too. 

I get the sentiment and it would be nice. But it just barely works like that anymore. But regardless of if they are our youngsters or not. If players do not want to be here then they should go.

Sibley. Can almost count on one hand how many good games hes had here? How many managers has he played under? None have consistently picked him. I don't think it helps that he's a bit stupid. Makes stupid decisions, makes stupid unnecessary tackles and gets needles yellow cards, managers can't trust him. I remember one game this season where he was left back and got booked in the first half. Warne took him off at half time because he can't trust him not to get another yellow. I can't even see anyone coming in for him at all.

Bird - 3 goals in 139 appearances. Flatters to deceive so often. I come out of games and question what he's offered? Surely a midfielder that is as good as some of our fans think he is should be dominating games in this league? He offered nothing and in a lot of games got bullied. 

I just don't think Sibley or Bird will amount to anything other than average Championship players at best. Says a lot that the only club he's linked with is Hull.

I think because they've come through the academy some of the fans think they're better than what they are.

Yeah the only thing with Bradley is he would fit the mould of what Warne wants and when he said we are trying to sign players who don't want to play in League One. I'd imagine Bradley fits into that category too.

Cos Warne said essentially we should have 5 in before pre season starts. Which I think is towards the end of next week?

So could just say there is two coming today quite easily cos there's a chance you could he right?

But then again Big Trav has also said we won't sign a permanent right back we want one on loan. Which is quite a bit of detail which could have only come from someone in the recruitment team or someone who knows someone there?

Fwiw when we haven't got a right back at all. Signing one on loan would be bizarre.

Of the players linked I'd guess potentially Bradley, Dabo, Harding.

But I really wouldn't be surprised if 5 come out the blue that we've not even been linked with.

Clubs that were linked were Cardiff, Blackpool, Portsmouth and Derby.

There's not a chance he would choose Oxford over any of them.
