Just never seems fazed or defeatist about the situation, so impressive given the horrendous circumstances. I really hope he gets the chance to manage us in a stable state....he absolutely deserves it.

Once homelessness is normalized in society, the natural next steps are applying increasing restrictions on the homeless and then criminalizing them.

For me, the EFL became the bad guys when they used the words "disappointed" and "regrettable" when one of their attempts to punish us failed. Its a governing body and should be ran as such, the use of such language turned it into a witch hunt imo.
None of that takes any blame from Mel, it just makes the EFL look like they are not bothered about the actual rules and whether we have broken them, but rather they want to punish us because we appear to have broken the rules and are under pressure from powerful lobbying from outside their organisation.
    Plus I'm biased. ???

You see, I've cut down my commute to 4 miles instead of 40. I, like you, grow veg, we both drive small cars, we have decided to take one abroad trip every 2 years instead of a few a year and we recycle as much as we can.
The problem is, like you say, that you can only do what you can do. There will be people on here that say they care about the future of the planet, but by posting snippets of their lives over the last 5 years on this forum, I know full well they have massive carbon footprints.
It's easier to say you care than to act on it. Like everything in life, hypocrites and virtue signallers are everywhere. Not aimed at you by the way.
I will add, I'm a massive hypocrite too. I eat far too much meat. All for a personal endeavor that means little to anyone else.

There are some double standards at work here. A few pets are temporarily upset by a few bangs and there's this huge outcry about banning fireworks.
A man is killed in February, a pensioner in April, a 10 year old boy last month, over 7500 people go to hospital every year after dog attacks not to mention the countless sheep and cattle that are terrorised.
So where's the outcry to ban dogs?

On the contrary, for the past few seasons we have been in the hands of somebody clearly prepared to gamble - and for the most part, Derby fans were happy with that situation.
The administrators are working with one remit only - to do their best on behalf of the creditors.

Every single supporter is completely fed up with the situation and will be gutted if this is true.......but do we really need the constant, never ending Club/Mel/now Administrator bashing??? Really? can't we just mourn the situation TOGETHER, stick TOGETHER and help the Club get back on its feet TOGETHER.
Some peoples constant need to blame and scapegoat is enough to make anyone say they have had enough and I say that after 53 years of support.

    You know how it is...
You come home from war... your thoughts, nightmares, mental torture, and guilt over not keeping your mate alive, despite them only being feet apart when the Afghan sniper hit... all firmly bottled away for 4 years in an army issue camo travel-flask... before finally coming clean (read "failed to hide it any longer"!) to your superiors, army doctors, shrinks, and... eventually... family!
A further 5 years pass by (on Civvy Street) with mainly ineffective help, advice and treatment (not for the lack of trying!), whilst the meds, the waking nightmares, the endless sleepless nights, the guilt, and the suicidal tendencies continue apace... until finally, along comes a seemingly successful (fingers crossed!) bout of EMDR therapies, slowly but surely making for a massive upturn in all things mood related.  (Still early days, mind!  Taking nothing for granted, here!)
And then... with almost perfect timing... the chance of a new start.  A new focus.  A new purpose in life.
As of this very morning... confirmed!

Some folk... particularly parents, I would imagine... may see the fact that their son is about to head off clearing the planet of landmines (starting with 6 months in Cambodia in the new year) as a bit of a bummer!
But with what we have all been through for the last five years (Plus the secret four, for him!) and with the smile finally back on his face, and a renewed zest for the future, I'm putting today down as being one of the best... despite the natural parental trepidation... because quite simply, it's what he wants... what he needs... and what he deserves.

Just need to get through this coming Sunday, as we'll be with him when he heads homeward from his Cornish Hideaway, and goes for a long awaited* chat and a catch-up with the aforementioned mate's name-on-the-Camp Bastion Wall, at The National Memorial Arboretum, then it really is time to move onwards, upwards, and forwards!
(*It was an annual thing, until Covid scuppered last year's visit)

I may delete this any time soon... for obvious reasons... but right now, with tears in my eyes... I just want to scream out in unashamed relief!
I think he... and we... might just have turned a very long, slow corner.  Who knows... we may even have made it out through the other side!
    Good day?  Hell yeah!

    What you calling kids?
I went with mine. 7 and 9. They loved carving pumpkins, they loved getting all dressed up and they loved trick or treat at all the houses that were lit up
Especially the guy who had coffins and light shows all over his garden and was dressed as dracula playfully scaring the little ones.
We bumped into other parent with their kids and those kids were excited. Kids comparing sweets and costumes. Kids talking about houses that they've seen all lit up.
Why? Because kids enjoy it. Like trampolines and video games. What's the point? What's the point in anything?
Crying that it's begging. I can soend a tenner on sweets and kids come to my door not to beg but because they're out having the same excitement as mine. Costs me a whole tenner. Wondering around in the spooky dark having fun. They're not begging me for sweets. They're out experiencing the night as whole. It's an excuse to have fun. Imagine
If they were sat inside on ipads they'd be getting slated for that too?
    They're kids man.
What's the point in being an adult and going out getting pissed up? Being loud and talking utter nonsense? Maybe... fun?
Let's all sit inside and watch news about Covid. It's kids having fun ffs. And what because some 15 year old in a tracksuit steals a bucket of sweets that's what Halloween really is. It ain't.
You choose to see antisocial youths knocking on old ladies doors. Look again and you might see excitable 6 year olds who get to dress up and have social interactions with likeminded others.
Dare I say some people like to have little kids knock and their doors in their little costumes and use their manners. It actually warms some people to see kids having fun.
Others just want to sit and cry about it. Funny, on a football forum. I can't think of any antisocial behaviour I could use as example to paint all football fans with. They certainly don't waste their money. Paying £60 for a Derby County costume to then go and swear, shout and moan in it. Blocking my roads with bad parking etc moan etc moan etc

@Big Trav if you were looking for token love and appreciation you should have spent your money in Barnsley going to a brothel.
For what worth, I think this set of players do genuinely care about the club and performance. They are just not very good. In my view we currently only have 5 proper footballers. The two centre backs and our big No. 9 are, however, all some 5 years or more past their prime, Morrison is an enigma, and Bird is only 20/21. I have hopes Knight might make a footballer too, but he does need to work on his quality.
To turn on our players now is a travesty Trav. Get behind them. They are not very good, but they are what we have. If you want to be irked, focus your thoughts on the bloke who left us in this complete mess.

Yes the last couple of games have been bad. But it's not over.
We win on Saturday and the other teams around us lose, which could happen, we're then only 4 points from safety.
If we can get Bielik playing we'll get those wins we need.

As a country bumpkin, we used to "borrow" a cow turnip from the back field and hollow it out, (we actually called them Turnip Lanterns).
By the time you'd carved one of those buggers out with a blunt pen knife, (took about a week), your hands were too sore to knock on any doors.

they’re clearly doing it wrong in your area then.
Just don’t put a pumpkin out if you don’t want to be involved. The only people that get their doors knocked in our area are those who have signed up to it by putting a pumpkin or other decorations out.
Everyone has fun. I hate it when people describe it as begging. It’s clearly not. The traditional trick or treat ‘gimme some sweets or I’ll Chuck an egg at your house,’ is clearly wrong. But that’s not how it’s done these days. It’s just a game that everyone signs up for. Like if you had a massive neighbourhood game I’d hide and seek and the kids got sweets for participating.
I saw a good quote recently saying ‘don’t judge the older teenagers trick or treating, be pleased that they are holding onto their childhood.’
I’d rather my kids be out joining in with the festivities than be sat at home being miserable. As long as they’re being respectful and following the rules of course.
