We need a more direct replacement for McGoldrick's link up play than anything else. It's not as if McGoldrick does much pressing. He just chooses the times to do it. When you have the wingers and Knight buzzing around you, and Hourihane lurking around the edge of the box, you don't need to be a pacy forward to bring the best out of them.

    Absolutely this! ????

The call for a pacey striker doesn't really fit with the way we play. I appreciate it would give us 'something different', but lets be honest, how many times will we play teams that offer the chance to run in behind? Most teams we play will sit in and we have to prise them out or play through them - that needs guile and technique, not pace down the middle.

The Chris Martin that we all recall would be an ideal alternative for McGoldrick, but whether he's still that player; whether he is affordable and whether he is willing to play as and when are all unknowns.

League cup semi finals are either side of this round so Sky will have that to consider when picking the TV games

FA Cup isn’t in Sky, is it? Thought it was BBC and ITV?

I simply don't get that people are reporting that we're unbeaten for 16 games. If that were the case we'd still be in the League Cup, but we went out (ie a loss) to Liverpool at Anfield. Our unbeaten run is a magnificent 11 games, 8 of them in the league. However, if we're just looking only at league matches, the unbeaten run there is also a magnificent 11 games (though only 5 wins and 6 draws).

While we need to start winning more games, we do look as if we're likely to do that from now on. Also, this list of results highlights the fabulous defence, not conceding in 5 games and only letting in 3 in the last 12, including that trip to Anfield which I think was the making of our current defence, giving them massive confidence.

All football statisticians count games decided by penalty kicks as drawn fixtures.

Thinking the same as you 2 points a game is the bench mark to keep pace within the play off race

We're well inside the play-off places now having won an average of 1.7points per game; what the need for improved returns to stay there?

10 points every six games from here will see us in the top six.

  5. Warne's first match was against Cambridge, going in to which the team were seventh in the table, level on points with Barnsley in sixth, and earning an average of 1.55 points per game.

Warne's next match is against Cambridge, going in to which the team are sixth in the table, level on points with Wycombe in seventh, and earning an average of 1.59 points per game.

Statistically, there is very little difference between the Warne and pre-Warne league fixtures this season.
