Ok just got in from friend's 50th birthday afternoon tea and know nothing as no reception or wifi at venue - was it bad?

It was poor and a big opportunity missed against a team who worked hard but didn’t offer a huge amount in the final third.

I think the thing that is most annoying is a mixture of the players not turning up, tactics being behind the curve and them clearly being a team we can beat.

There’s still plenty to play for, but this was disappointing and concerning.

Thought we probably deserved a point without playing well, not making Barnsley play well to win is annoying!

really struggled to create anything, and our balls into the box weren’t great.

not a bad day results wise though, Barnsley joined the pack but otherwise not too much damage done. Could do with a little winning run of four or five games now.  Consolidate second place.

Just got back and don’t understand the real negativity. We were ok, they scored a worldie, it wasn’t a bad performance for me, just lacked killer instinct when we got in front. Stuttering start 2nd half and bizarrely got better towards end without creating clear cut chances.

Seen a lot worse performances at Barnsley away. Still all to play for.

So many get fixated by individual match results but really the only thing that matters in the promotion challenge is to maintain a rolling 10points return across the last five games. It doesn’t matter where the points come from - they all count the same value. If we keep that rolling two pints per game average we’ll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

And even after today’s game, we are still at 10 points from the last five games.

This isn’t true though. A win against a direct rival is much more valuable than a win against the cannon fodder lower down as you guarantee a rival gets 0 points.

Except this has put them back in the race for top 2, it hasn’t ended our chances. This was must win for them today, it wasn’t must win for us. With the results, it’s actually no change for us with two very winnable home games this week. Think the next two games against rivals (Bolton and Pompey) will be more important than this one.

Exactly this. They were poor but we switched off at 2 key moments despiite being marginally better but below our best. Love Max Bird but his passing was very shaky today & delivery from wide wasn't consistent enough (Wilson at one point beating 3 men & then shanking it into touch!?!) Their fans who I spoke to after match were surprised we sat back after scoring...becoming a very Derby trait this. All about not wanting to control of the game...week in, week out. At least Bolton got beat badly, big 2 weeks ahead (4 games) which will tell us a lot about our true chances of top 2.

Only one question, if we face Barnsley in the playoffs can we beat them

No.

I prefer it when we win to be honest.

I thought we were too negative and Collins being absent is clearly a big blow. Luckily the sun was in my eyes for half the game - burning my retinas out might be an option if I have to watch much more of that.

When’s Charlton’s answer to Calvin Plummer going to turn up by the way - did Warne say?

Anyway, onwards and upwards, all to play for. COYR.

This, and there was nothing between the teams today. Draw wouldve been fair result

Exactly. The home game was so long ago that I don’t think it’s particularly relevant but, they weren’t a great deal better than us today. We were poor but they still didn’t play us off the park.

Thought warne hit the nail on the head with his post match comments. Gave away possession far too much and their pressing was very effective.

We were well in the game and individual errors, switching off at set pieces cost us. There was hardly anything in the game, draw would have been a fair reflection of the game but fair play to Barnsley they got over the line. Too many players off it for us, some not helped by having to be played out of position (Mendez-Laing). Bird off it, Wilson really poor until he came alive last 20 mins when freed of his defensive duties, Adams is a brilliant destroyer in midfield but poor with the ball. Not having a striker has hurt us in these two games, seen enough of Gayle to think he’ll get goals, if Mendez clips that ball into Gayle coming in from the left instead of shooting Gayle scores, Mendez cut in at the end instead of using Wilson on overlap, poor decision.

Two very winnable home games now, time for us fans to play our part again like we did against Stevenage.

Still think we can get this done and over the line and enjoy a proper rebuild in the summer free of restrictions.

Really agree with this bit. Thought we never put many decent balls in and Wilson was particularly frustrating, as the number times he was in promising positions to cross and either held on too long, overhit or that moment which he did all the hard work but needed to cross sooner.

He was a bit guilty of flattering to deceive a fair bit, though I cut him some slack for keeping going to get in those positions; the end product, like the fane was just frustrating.
