According to @kash_a_ram_a_ding_dong you're not gay, you're a socialist.

In all seriousness, I fully understand your stance. I fear that by not adopting the same view I'm being more than mildly hypocritical. I suppose we should wait to see if it happens in any case, as if the EFL can find a way, they'll probably try and scupper it.

Wrong take over bid, he's UAE not Saudi. Not saying there aren't issues but TV piracy isn't one of them

Schmokes, that is a totally different group

The Bin Zayed group ( our man ) tried to takeover at Newcastle last year, not the recent Saudi bid that the Premier League rejected

Championship clubs are cheap. Derby has a great ground, great academy, great fans. Stadium can have increased capacity. EFL love Derby County. Well nearly there. If EFL are against it then they are tackling  people with real money.

You had me right up to the ‘great fans’ bit ?

All I want to see is some entertaining football, if that leads to promotion and stability in the Premier League, I’ll take it. A new owner with great wealth could easily emulate Leicester City’s achievements. I really hope Mel stays as he really deserves to see us performing well in the top flight.

... there's more to supporting a football team than watching them win all the time?  a football clubs supposed to be a representation of the community and something you have a connection to. I highly doubt many Man City fans feel any sort of connection to there club anymore.

Hear hear! I associate a lot with" one of our own", such as Knight, Buchanan, Sibley et al. Seeing their past and future success is all part of the tribalism of being a true club fan. I think the same of Fergie's band of youngsters - what an achievement by ManU. Almost made me like that wretched club. But lashing a foreigner's millions on imports will not be the same. Those of us who are apprehensive about this takeover, are worried about our club's soul being sold.

Derby turning into another Man City would be one of the few things that would stop me supporting the club.

I would rather stick red hot pokers in my eyes that have been soacked in dog poo for 2 months than end up like Man City...

If we become a man city esq oil club I'll not be excited by it.

Probably just go watch some local Glasgow sides (not the old firm, never the old firm)

I just picked out three of these. I can't understand this point of view. Man City were also-rans and now are a top Premier League team with some of the world's best players. My first memories of supporting Derby are of us as the top team in the country, with some of the world's best players, breaking the British transfer record. Watching us beat Real Madrid 4-1 in the European Cup is one of my finest Derby moments to have witnessed.

I would love it if we have an owner with the ambition and wherewithal to reach those dizzy heights again in my lifetime. I know hard core Man Citeh fans and they have absolutely loved their ascent to the football summit.

As far as I'm concerned, when Man City got taken over the old Man City ceased to exit. They used to be the underdog Manchester club full of character, now all that's left is the badge. Every time they win it's meaningless.

Have to agree on this, my lasses lad is 12 and a Citeh supporter, a couple of years ago we took him and my lad to a champions League game against Shaktar Donesk City won 6-0, every goal even the 1st one seemed to be cheered the same, its hard to explain but it felt like a token effort or that City scoring and winning was a given right to them.....no not a great atmosphere very sterile

Eh? It's the same consortium as tried to take over Newcastle, no?

Not the same consortium as the link you posted. The Bin Zayed Group we’re in negotiations With Newcastle  in 2019 but failed to agree terms. Mike Ashley increased the asking price and the consortium felt they were being disrespected and walked away.

So if it goes ahead and if Derby end up in the top 6 of the premiership I take it you will not support them. That's your choice. But who do you think misses out? Only you.  The business that is football will continue. Personally I'd like like to go back to the days when only Yorkshire people could play cricket for Yorkshire but in a football setting but it ain't going to happen. Young footballers go to the bigger clubs lured by money and fame. One of our brightest and best did that recently. Football is big business and you either roll with it or get left behind.

Yep, I will and i wont be the only one.

And on the same vein, if they do take over you are prepared to over look all the terrible human rights, the innocent people being murdered, the starving children, the homophobia, the sexual inequality etc etc etc issues that they have just to support a football team....?

Sorry, are you referencing various Arab states there, or the building of the British Empire?
We all have blood on our hands.
