Nobody can take anything away from Wayne Rooneys outstanding footballing capabilities. Everybody knows that (had a very good game tonight). However this thread isn’t about how he is on the pitch, more so how he treats the fans.

There was a huge amount of fans (about 80 with me and my son included) waiting for him to finish his many long interviews after the game. We all waited for about half an hour after the game and as soon as he finished he headed straight into the tunnel despite people loudly calling for him.

Me and my son then got photos with all the other players who were so friendly and just generally top blokes. We met almost every one of the first team players and none of them got in their car until everybody who wanted an autograph or photo got one.

We also noticed that Rooney has his car parked right outside the stadium with metal railings all around it so that he could just leave the stadium and instantly get in the car without meeting any fans. Me and my son noticed another 20 or so people waiting around these railings just waiting for Rooney (who would undoubtedly ignore them again) while we met the rest of the players.

Clear lack of regard to the fans which highly contrasts with the other players

I bumped into the entire England team and staff in Basel airport after a game over there and he could not have been nicer. The security staff we trying to stop me talk to them all and Rooney walked past heard what was going off and came back and grabbed me and said “he is with us” then let me walk into the private lounge they had set aside and spend 15 minutes talking to them all....Himself, Gary Neville, Lee Dixon, Joe Hart and Danny Welbeck could not have been more friendly

He's a horrible person. It was raining and he was in his car yet made thousands of fans walk into town afterwards.

I asked him for a lift and he said ‘no’. What a Bamford. I burned my Rooney shirt after that and bought a forest season ticket.

He probably could have done without it.  No doubt pi55ed him off a bit.  But "Overwhelming"?
This is Wayne Rooney we are talking about.  Ex Manure & England.  World Cup hopes resting solely at his young feet.  Champions League Prodigy.  We Are Derby!  Overwhelming it would not have been.

He said in his interview that he was nervous.

Two sides to every story. This post is like one of them old woman that moan on Facebook about a local business that have usually not done much wrong. Irs damaging & wrong

Imagine all the mither Rooney has had throughout is whole career. Probably cant walk down any street in the country without being recognised. Being a superstar you have to learn to say no. The rest of our team wouldn't be known outside of Derby city centre. Even then they probably don't get much mither

Also imagine being human & having a day when you just can't be bothered with signing autographs.

As a player he's won everything, arguably Englands greatest ever player & certainly the biggest superstar by a long way to ever play for our club in my life time. Just enjoy he's here ?

I often think about what it would be like to be rich and famous.  One the one hand there's the adulation, being able to afford anything you ever wanted, high class escorts on tap, and mountains of coke.  But on the other you have needy people, pressuring you into being a saint 24/7.  I can barely acknowledge my family's existence, on a Sunday evening, when I've finished 90 minutes in the East Mids Vets League, so if I was him, I'd probably do the same...

Sith Happens

I think some of you are being harsh on the OP.

I fully agree Rooney had so much on his plate yesterday that adding to that would not be top of his list. But can understand his Son being disappointed not to get his Autograph. Its an exciting time for us and for younger fans (assuming of course his son isnt 30) the chance to meet someone like Rooney is fantastic so being upset is understandable.

Do think the OP does need to reign in his views of Rooney though, it was a media circus yesterday, Rooney was dragged from pillar to post after the game doing media interviews, I think if you and your son just have a bit of patience and let it die down you will get the autograph and picture.

Well Colleen wasn't driving. Every time the cameras cut to her in an executive box, she had a bottle of wine in her hand. She will need something stronger when Lawrence is back in the team.

I wonder whose box she was in? I always remember Vydra had one but no-one else.

We was told by Davis when waiting outside the players entrance, that Rooney had just got into the showers and then had a meeting with all of the coaches. I think it’s unfair speaking badly of him, he’s one person being wanted by a lot of people.
