That would be a recipe for clubs spending beyond their means. In fact it would guarantee it, as the only way to keep up would be to bet the farm each season, and hope by maxing your credit out you can stay competitive.
It would be incredibly boring too. It just becomes a game of who can spend the most money.
In fact it sounds like exactly the opposite of what I want football to be. Nothing about the fans, entirely about the depth of pockets of the owners. Like we have now, on steroids. And crack cocaine.

    Didn’t take long.
But this is more than just Derby. I can point you towards more than a dozen topics that are sticking the boot into the club where you could have a whale of a time.
Can even find a couple where AFC Derby and full on liquidation scenarios for doomsday.
Regardless of where we finished, who’s in charge it’s wrong, we should be able to call that out without attacking our own club yet again.
The prize money on offer in the Premier League is obscene, the numbers are more nauseating when you consider grounds have been empty for over a year in 3 leagues, 3 leagues which unlike the Premier League ticket revenue accounts for a large percentage of the clubs yearly revenue.
But yeah, let’s ignore that to complain about Rooney again because that’s the biggest issue the Football League is facing right now.

£125m for being the worst team in the league.
    Just let that sink in.
One hundred and twenty five million pounds for being crap.
That’s 3 clubs coming down with a total of £381m, but that’s not all, the Premier League will also give them parachute payments to soften the blow.
Sorry to start another topic on this, but it’s a topic that needs to be repeated, football is broken. It’s broken and they are doing nothing about it. Why?
We have to try and compete with those 3 next year, with barely any revenue we have to compete against clubs with over £100m in their back pockets.
    What hope do we have?
Yes I know money doesn’t always = success, Brentford beat Bournemouth, made it to Wembley but how many years have they been trying to get there?
Whoever goes up it’s a major achievement, getting past the parachute payment clubs, it’s huge, one season up there and they have banked over £100m, it’s madness.
We can never have a completely level playing field, I understand that, but the PL and EFL could come together and distribute that money out more fairly.
    Why are they not?
Why are these questions not being asked?
Do we need to see more clubs liquidated, more clubs going bankrupt trying to compete from the Championship to League 2, all the national media journalists will be all over that, justice for Bury, why not call it out now?
Heads are so far up the Premier League’s backside the Football League barely gets a mention.
I’m ranting I know, but £125m for being crap.
Who signs off on that and thinks it’s good for football?
    It’s broken, football is broken.

Had a proper wobble earlier. Had a few early beers to mark second anniversary of mate’s death, abandoned mates ij Birmingham, considered doing something stupid, someone got hold of my mother, she left a voicemail, i thankfully cannot ignore my amazing mum, reset my brain... need some help. Now thinking how far I might’ve gone had I not spotted the message. Sorry. Embarrassed. But confused.

This is a very fair point. Problem is we contributed to this with our 'big spending' reputation which the club were only too keen to broadcast to all & sundry - pretty ridiculous when then sitting down for negotiations on players. Exeter knew exactly what our approach was at the time & so asked for twice the price Watkins eventually went to Brentford for.
This is precisely why I can't stand the big time, celebrity managing nonsense we've become. The only thing we should be well known for is the quality of our team but ironically that is the only thing we're not known for. And until we have a decent team, we're vulnerable so we should really keep our head down & build on the quiet.

If that was the case, all he needs to do is simply walk away. The club would automatically enter Administration (at best) or be wound up.
So no, I don't think that is what he is trying to do (the word implies intention) - but without a genuine buyer, that's where we are, one way or the other.

I’m clearly on another planet; I read the club’s statement & yeah,  it says what it can, but clearly there’s not much detail they can share at the minute, but I instantly felt a bit more connected again. The line about the lost £20m due to the pandemic really struck me. My daughter & I both said as soon as we read it that we’ll buy the new shirt as soon as it’s out!
I grew up near the Baseball Ground & could hear the crowd from our house. The club is in my blood & always will be so I’ll always do what I can to support its future as it’s our future too ?

Is anyone more encouraged by radio silence on all fronts that a sale may be moving on quietly in the background? After the announcements and then embarrassing social media stunts by Alonso could a more business-like offer be progressing do you think? If everything had just fallen through after his comments after the final match wouldnt WR have perhaps been more vocal or walked? Perhaps I am interpreting silence over- optimistically? Should have done a poll!

I'm really pleased for Leicester play some great football, got some brilliant players and a great manager in Brendan Rodgers, after Derby they've been my favourite team to play and hate Chelsea so perfect result for me. Great for the East Midlands to. It shows the smaller clubs can still win big trophies. Wouldn't it be great if our club was run like Leicester?

It is nice to see someone new at the top. Like even after 100+ years of football, there are still firsts to be seen and record to be broken.
Even Man City winning stuff, they seem like a Nuevo Riche club, but they have a distant history of winning stuff. Chelsea the same. If Derby ever won the fa cup again, commentators would say it’s the first time since 1946. It’s a rare thing to see a club with no history at all create their history in front of your eyes. These are the years that Leicester fans in 100 years time will be talking about, singing ‘Jamie Vardy’s watching’.
It makes me realise though, that until now, Leicester have really been the most ‘meh’ of all ‘meh’ clubs, dancing in the street at their one league cup success under MON, (they actually built a statue to commemorate that) until the last 5 years.
I like it though, it really does give all other clubs hope. The premier league win was a bit of a once in a generation fluke, so that actually destroys hope for other clubs I think, cos something like that is unlikely to happen again in our lifetimes, so because it happened to Leicester, it won’t happen to anyone else. But the fact that they’ve established themselves in and around the top 4, through good scouting, good management and good ownership, gives hope that other clubs can come from nowhere and dine at the top table with the elite clubs. I think Leicester are definitely established in that group now, and if they challenge for another premier league title in the coming years, it won’t be a fluke, it will be because that’s the level that they’re at now.
The freak league title helped get them to that level, but I think the good work behind the scenes would have got them there anyway. I’m so jealous that they were able to find players like Vardy, Kante, and Mahrez, and pick up managers like Rainieri and then Rodgers. If they can get players like that, anyone can, so why can’t we?!??

VAR is awful, and pundits are enjoying criticising it, but it is the likes of sky with their dozens of camera angles that are responsible for it.
They enjoyed picking refs up on wrong decisions because they had the benefit of replays from every angle you can imagine, perhaps if they hadnt been so keen to destroy a ref because he made a wrong decision because they could replay it 100 times we wouldnt be in this position today.

Getting quite bored of all the 'nobody's going to want to buy us' BS. To my mind, most recently, there were three really significant inhibitors to what I would term, serious investors; firstly, the imminent threat of relegation'; secondly, the fear of a significant points deduction for next season and a possibly another season-long relegation fight as a result; and lastly, the fact that a deal had already been struck with Alonso pending EFL ratification. In the last few weeks, two of those factors have already been mitigated and we are now told we have multiple credible suitors. Happenstance?
As regards the last outstanding issue, that being our punishment for our supposed FRS 102 'non-compliance', gimme a break! Does anyone really believe the original DC are suddenly going to turn around and ratify a 12 point deduction, or anything like it?
My predictions for the immediate future: A) The club will be under new, EFL approved and sanctioned ownership inside 3 months. B) There'll be no significant FFP punishment, if for no other reason than we've done nothing wrong. C) The current never-ending pile-on from some on here will thankfully peter out and melodrama and inter-fan sniping levels will return to something like those prevalent before the original FFP charge.
    And breathe....

FlyBritishMidland reacted to Gaspode in Derby County Administration (with the slight possibility of Liquidation still there)
That's he crux of the issue - both the Sheikh and Alonso were almost certainly fronting up other parties - as such they would potentially both appear credible if they came to Mel with letters of intent and evidence of wealth from the real backers. The fact that the backers have subsequently got cold feet and walked away in the interim (not surprising given our precarious league position and issues with the EFL) has resulted in both deals falling through.
The Sheikh simply melted away whereas Alonso had made such a big deal of the takeover that he kept on 'giving it large' until Mel pulled the plug when no money appeared. I don't think either of them were necessaarily the chancers they're being made out to be - it's certainly possible that they both started out with good intentions and had the rug pulled from under them when their wealthy backers walked away...
Those people attacking Mel for not doing his due diligence would do well to remember that hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing.....
