Things that are no longer part of football...

... that you miss?

Ok, I will start...

1.   When the England squad for a tournament is announced the radio, in an unflamboyant way read out the surnames of the players... "Shilton... Butcher... Dorigo... Parker... Pearce... Walker... Wright..."

2.   When stood behind the goal, clapping the opposition keeper into the net (he would return the clap) - I still do this, but no one knows what it is I'm doing!

Where to start?

FA Cup draw on a Monday at 12:30... Live on the radio.
Silk scarves... silk is good!
All-Day Cup Final-Fest on telly... and even the night before!
FA Cup Semi's NOT at Wembley.
Cup vouchers included in Season Tickets.
Kids using up-turned milk crates to see the action.
Young teens being able to afford match expenses out of their "pocket money".

Probably more later, but need to get ready for work...

Matches starting on time at 3pm on a Saturday all over the UK.

Home and away supporters standing together on the terraces.

Wandering on to the pitch at the end of a match without it being described as a 'pitch invasion!'

The entire crowd showing appreciation for a good piece of skill (especially exceptional goal-keeping!)

Again, welcoming the goalie!

Being able to pronounce all the players' names!?

Just enjoying the game as a young’un, no FFP, accounts, clickbait drama, ITK social media accounts.

22 players on the pitch, trying to score a goal and that pure joy when your team did.

Proper chippy on the way home.

For me, all that rubbish goes away once you get into the ground.

Ooh... Cravats... how about silk cravats... in club colours, obvs!

*Would that be a hark back to days of yore, or an entirely new and fresh business initiative?
I honestly don't know whether they used to wear cravats at t'games, but I kinda like the thought that they did.
