VulcanRam got a reaction from Carl Sagan in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
I had a chat with someone I know who works in the ticket office the other day, and they said the only reason they weren't selling STs was the risk of another lockdown - they have only just cleared the refunds for this season and as your accountant friend said, it has created an administrative nightmare. If I'm honest, I'm not sure how or why it's so hard administratively but there you go.
Anyway, he said the club really didn't want to go down that road again. They might well be considering half STs should all go well up until Christmas. Match by match allows them greater flexibility - the risk of course is that if crowds drop off should the team not be performing, they could lose considerable revenue.

c8500 renewed and capacity for Sunday is c8000, so if everyone who had a ST last year got in free they would be running it at a loss.

I cannot believe anyone might think this is a good idea. Have we learnt not learned anything from Jordon Ibe?
    Are we really that desperate?
When I see things like this it just underlines how far we have fallen.

I have no real interest watching England, but I have to admit they were brilliant last night. In fact, after a pretty poor tournament so far standards-wise, both semi finals were excellent.

I have a different take on this I'm afraid. As another poster has pointed out, it was clear from the start where the problems lay.
This whole situation smacks of a complete lack of due diligence, desperation and a finger in the wind strategy.

Decent move, been a terrible last two years here. Just didn't work out. Good luck to him.

    Right here right now, relegation.
I hope by the time the first ball is kicked to have shifted expectations to midtable somewhere.

I posted some of these yesterday on the Baseball Ground memories post but I think that they warrant a post of their own for the fans who don’t live around Derby or those who do who have never revisited the old BBG area, the surrounding roads etc and may have wondered what it now looks like.
The names are all the same but the view is very different.
I took a walk around, first time i had done it, I could feel the hairs on my neck start buzzing as I walked down Cambridge Street, it has such an image etched in my memory of the floodlights at the Osmaston End and the welcome to the Baseball Ground sign, Shaftesbury Crescent columbo St, Vulcan St, the names forever associated with those walks to the ground, the smells of beer and fags from the pubs along the way that filled the air, the locals stood on their doorsteps to protect their windows, the scuffles that would break out, the police horses being used to skilfully control the crowd, the chants that would echo around the close knit roads, all of those memories of a time gone past are held in these photos.

I have a Cooke in my family too. She is a second cousin or some thing like that. Perhaps we could see if they are related, and perhaps organise a meeting up of them and other Cooke’s for a Dinner event. We should discount broth as a starter option though.

I’m not here to try and change your opinion, ultimately none of us know what it’s like to work under Mel behind the scenes so we can only build our own opinions from what we see and hear.
One thing though, Keogh, we might not have acted by the letter of employment law but I back the decision 100%.
He was the club captain, those responsibilities apply both on and off the pitch, Lawrence going through a tough time with the loss of his mum, Bennett a young lad still, Keogh should have known better, he let this club down big time.
Even had the offer to take a pay cut, whilst rehabilitation took place at Moor Farm, which the club would have covered as they did his surgery.
For me, completely tainted his time at Derby, hope he enjoys the money, I have no time for him now at all.

Mel's rubbed the EFL up the wrong way since day one. They can't stand him and other clubs don't like (or simply don't have the balls to try) some of his operating methods. It's only when we have new owners that we will be treated fairly by these goons, but I imagine for bitter people like Gibson the vendetta will run on and on and on.
I admire Mel for raising the debate on TV rights and other issues that clearly penalise clubs our size. In the end, the EFL is a collective so you go with the majority while you a still a member firm. Raising issues, looking at disruptive methodology and modernising operations should all be good discussion points in an organisation looking to see how it can change for the betterment of its members, but the EFL's attitude appears archaic and anti-change. At a time of great risk for all EFL clubs, it should be bending over backwards to help its members, but with cases like Bury, Wigan, Derby, Macclesfield to name but a few, it appears to be doing completely the opposite.

Thank you. A decent post on among some of the knuckle dragging comments.
DCFC Women have made great strides in the last three years and are close to getting into the Championship, which is part of the professional game. They have professionalised the setup with a proper Board of Directors, their youth setup is proving an excellent opportunity for girls to play and across the club are doing their best to build, grow and improve.
The top end of the club (Mel Morris and Stephen Pearce) have helped enormously with funding and access to facilities, bringing the Women's Club closer into alignment with the men's.
Who knows, in a couple of years we might have a Championship team at DCFC. And it might not be the men.
