  1. Just spoken to Albatross Taxis..

Anyone attending the march on Sunday and in need of a taxi please use discount code savedcfc to get 20% off the taxi fare.

You must add your card details to the Albatross App to be applicable.

Bear in mind taxis will be very busy so best to allow plenty of time.

A big thank you to Albatross Cars..

Any other businesses doing something such as opening early or incentives please PM me.

  2. Hi guys

I hadn't seen a post on here about the march so passing the message on.

Ryan the chap who has taken the time to organise everything will be doing media rounds with Ed Dawes & Natalie Jackson so hopefully as many fans as possible will be aware and can attend. Would be great if we can get a few thousand.

I have managed to get 40 / 50 flags so these will be distributed on the day and I will then take these back to get into the stadium for the game.

Will also be a new banner about Save the Club at the front of the march.

In short, an 1130 meet at the Assembly Rooms and slow walk to Pride Park via closed roads thanks to Derby Police and Roger Brown who has sorted this. Expect to arrive at Pride Park just after midday.

Be good if as many as possible can join in to spread the word. This is potentially our last chance to show what this football club means to our city to the wider audience.

A large flag in the North Stand pike be good. Get them “involved”

There will be a rather large flag in the North Stand Sunday ?

To be fair she said they won’t make a decision till Friday, obviously based on information at that time ie number of tickets left, if there is only a small amount of tickets left and there is fans left without tickets then there is more potential for trouble. If there is plenty of tickets left then I assume they will be available on the day but who knows ??‍♂️

Spoke to the Cardiff safety officer today, they are expecting around 1k - very good following all things considered. Would imagine pay on the day to be available.

Your fans were some of the most fervant in our fight against the Oystons, hope to see  you in the Championship next season.

One of my favourite photos. Good meet that day..

Yes remember well re Oyston. It was a night game if i recall when the protests were pretty much early days. A group of us saw the commotion outside main entrance and stayed for a good 10 minutes joining in with you guys. This carried on over the years both at your place and at Pride Park when we joined in numerous times..

When I went I parked at Bedminster cricket club and can recommend that, clubhouse bar open as well I think. And I'd rather give parking money to a cricket club than ncp or a council.

Bristol Parkway is a timezone away from where you need to go.

If you want to view a horrific vision of a nightmarish distopia of pain and suffering, go for a tour of Aztec West Business park, just off the m4/m5 junction (although you'd need to be trying to get out of it at 5.15pm for the full experience).

    "Love" = "Duck"

The Clifton suspension bridge is very nice. Reminds me to bump the bridges thread.

There are some very hipster parts of Bristol and some very posh parts but most of its pretty ok.

Although, obviously, not as good as on the Celtic side of the bridge.

Keep saying to myself that I will get the flag up on the Clifton Suspension Bridge one day!

I agree! I get the 12 point deduction rule being brought in as there was a flurry of clubs going into admin to cut their debts which shafted local suppliers and HMRC alike, and the league wanted to discourage that.

I think this is why fan representation on the board is so important, if we had people that cared about this club and not just the potential return on investment by gaining promotion, perhaps the alarm bells could've been ringing years ago over the state of our finances - with Pearce and Morris given the boot?

I raised alarm bells back in May and pretty much got shot down for it all so the talk of fan representation, whilst it seems a good idea, I am not so sure whether they would become the new hate figure should things go wrong as they wont directly be holding the purse strings.

A group of fans maybe but we have also seen the hate that the Supporters Charter Group have got over the past year through no fault of their own.

I can only go what was said at the last meeting with the administrators, it was positive and they said preferred bidder announced next week all being well. Personally wouldn't surprise me if this was CK team speaking to the Mail to try and rush the sale through. Mail have just dramatised it.

But yes, back in May liquidation was a possibility for the future, it was heading that way via admin due to the absolute dire situation the club found itself in. We should have acted then whilst Mr Morris was still present, we didn't and he bolted.

I know quite a bit about charities being a mentor for two and, recently, a trustee with another. All I’m saying is that whilst leaving a charity with a debt of £8k is terrible, I’m not sure it wipes out all the good stuff an individual may have done. Someone mentioned he had donated a scanner to the DRI worth £1m.

Do you really care if he’s got three letters after his name? I couldn’t really care two hoots but If such an award encourages individuals to donate a net £992,000 to charity then so be it. I’d rather they got them than some sports person for “services to [insert selected sport here]” when all they may have done is play a sport they happen to be good at and probably made a load of money out of it.

Finally, not my specialist subject but I believe directors have to be careful not to show preference to creditors just ahead of going into administration. Paying off the debt to a charity may not cause a problem but, you never know, other creditors may object.

    Fair points..

No in truth I dont care, more important things to think about to be honest with trying to clear this mess up he created but hey.

Like I said, it shows you what kind of person you are when you do certain things in life. How long was it into the RD interview where he finally apologised? 45 minutes or so? ... Yes he did donate a scanner and fair play. Lets just hope it wasn't for tax reasons like many have said. I will give him the benefit of the doubt on that.

Not my specialist subject either and you could totally be right about that. Of all the creditors though, only charity on there, and if it was me I would have ensured that bill was paid. Either way its a mess.

  9. 1 hour ago, Tamworthram said:

Who knows. Leaving a debt of £8k isn’t great but perhaps whatever he has done for charity (I genuinely have no idea) far outweighs this sum.

Every charity will tell you that every penny and pound counts for alot so for me this is utter contempt. You should all know by now that it was about the Mel Morris show. If he was Lionel and skint, I could understand, fact is he is not. I genuinely believe that shows alot about a person and their character. I can only judge myself in this situation but before exiting any business that I owned by god would I ensure that certain bills such as this was paid, if not to stop any further embarrassment. He should not be allowed to hide behind the 'club' owing it either.

Genuine question as I have no idea how it works but although the fans have paid the £8k (well, £10k actually so far for which a large round of applause is due) I would assume though that DCFC still owe St Johns Ambulance the original £8K so they'll get that as part of the sale deal, so double their money?

Club are aware following todays meeting with them and will hopefully be putting something out. With that I would imagine the bill would be null for DCFC.

I get the anger at him getting to walk away scot-free from this mess he's created (albeit £200MILLION of his own money lighter) but c'mon he's not Pol Pot, he's not embezzled or even done anything remotely illegal. Perhaps slightly immoral as it's put jobs at risk/forced redundancy.

The MBE was for services to business and charity, he's not exactly demanded all his charity money be repaid to him. This business (already loss making when he bought it and funded by his own money) has failed undoubtedly but that does not erase his past contributions to other business?

The petition to strip his CBE from him is petty and misguided and the small minority who have actually signed it tars the entire fanbase with looking like spoilt children.

Wonder if St John Ambulance feel he deserves it. So charitable that 8k was still owed to them and was eventually paid by the fans. Never mind that though he has an MBE... Embarrassing. If i was walking away like he did I would be god damn sure to make sure charities like STJ were paid even if it meant me dipping into my millions. Oh wait....

Don’t go to anymore away games this season . You won’t be filling the coffers of other Championship teams. Save the cash and use it next season to buy a friend or relative a season ticket . The players will understand.

May as well go into lockdown whilst we are at it..

Absolutely not. I do get your point about filling other clubs coffers but it really isn't about that, besides pretty sure we get a small % of ticket sales for away matches.

If anything, we should be filling that away end every game. Being proud of who we are and that we are sticking by our city and our football club. That's what we do and that is what will happen. The bounce back starts now. Potential new players will see this and understand what a special club we are.

Meant in a kind way, bloomin' amazing job you do lugging that flag around. ???

Just pointing out that doesn't make you any more representative than the next fan. Hope you're OK with that.

Bang on the money Angie! People often perceive that it does and that is so frustrating!

I don't actually agree with this, having worked for charities my whole career.

Many societies are set up to speak on behalf of a wider community than their actual membership, from political parties down.

The whole point of a democratic vehicle is to allow access to as many members as want to be involved, that way the organisation acheives as much democracy as it can. As it grows it can then do more to reach out to wider and wider groups of people.

I think Punjabi Rams have a structure and elections, I know the local supporters clubs do. I suspect most of the other "representative" groups don't, I know for example that this was a role thrust upon our Forum that @David felt very uncomfortable with. And as for the democracy of letting a man with a flag "represent" supporters! Sure Nick didn't ask for that, either.

I cannot for the life of me understand why supporters want to pour scorn over the one organisation whose very existence is set up to be the very thing that they all want - a voice in how the club is run.

I'm with @Simmo’s left foot, if more of us had got off our backsides earlier, then we might have been a force to be reckoned with when we were needed. But we aren't  - yet.

I  have joined because I want to change that. What are you doing about it?

    Hey!

I am keeping a low profile after, well you know, that thread back in May that is still going.............

Be kind to each other, all Derby and all that.

They tried a North Stand Singing section about 10 years ago, it didn't work.......

Some would argue it was quite effective actually. There were times when we outsung the old SE Corner. It was something different and quite enjoyed my time up there, perhaps it was because everyone was like minded. Good fun all the same and as @Normanmentioned, Cloughie made a fair few comments about it and was very appreciative of it. He was also one of the main reason we managed to get the South Stand in the end.

The idea was never to stay there but was the only place with a clear canvas to get together.

  16. Something I have been very passionate about for many many years.

A shame that Derby County, who were one of the first clubs to go public in support of safe standing, will more than likely not be part of any trial. Instead we find ourselves fighting to save the existence of our club.

Regardless, a step in the right direction for football fans. Seeing the South Stand ..... Well let's not go there. ?

But even if everyone on here had bought into what you said in May how would that have stopped us being where we are now?

Highinsight is a wonderful thing. We should have pushed more for answers. We should have got a plan back then. We should have offloaded in the summer. We should have been involved with the club to stop this from happening. Collectively we could have helped, whether thats by volunteering, buying a stake etc etc - no expert in this but if Mel had opened up more rather than being how he is, who knows...

If you had any information that the club was heading for administration then it should have been disclosed and maybe other posters would have taken you seriously?

To most you are just a poster on a football forum and what you say will hold no more weight than other posters opinions.

I wish I had taken your concerns more seriously (not that I think I could have helped do anything about it) but I make no apology because, as I pointed out at the time, your approach to the matter was completely wrong.

'I know something but won't tell you' is never going to get people on your side I'm afraid.

See this is the problem. The approach, the wording, the language, the manner... I could go on.... This is what the debate ended up going on about...

Did i have 'information' the club was going into admin back in May? No. Did I think it was going to happen? Yes I did.

One thing as I said at the time I was not prepared to do, was name drop people or suggest even where it came from. These same people now risk losing their job. I am sorry but I was not prepared to take that burden. Whether you accept that or not, to be honest I couldn't give a toss considering the current circumstances they now find themselves in. I suspect over the coming weeks and months, once their jobs are going, you may find out more. I had to be careful what I said. Up to people like you to make judgement. Many people on the forum know me and backed me. That should have been enough to trust.
