9 covered seats have come up for sale now so it’s possible to count the number that was available to us which was 100 in total. Unlike the 200 that the away fans guide lists.

Think its a case of DCFC releasing how many are applicable in each window.

    FGR tickets,

I really don’t understand how ticket priority system works.

Clicked on as soon as the buy button turned blue, already large areas greyed out.

I immediately clicked on the covered seats area, which is very limited, and there was about 15 left so clicked on one straight away.

Pressed buy, only to be told I had exceeded the number of tickets allowed to me and to press assign to owners.

    Still wouldn’t let me buy.

Risky strategy but I thought start again, clicked back on , three seats left, I was like a stock market trader, buy buy buy.?

    success, got the email .

Went back on site and its currently showing,

    Covered seats sold out.

    Covered standing 11 tickets available.

    Uncovered standing 93 tickets available.

We definitely haven’t got more than one thousand 20+ members.??‍♂️

    Like I said, I don’t understand.

Yeah just bought mine... Something not right as only 100 left..

Maybe they haven't released them all so actually not just a 100 left..

I’d imagine this would be the most likely course of action in the event of standing areas being given the green light.

My point is - given that (an ever increasing) demand for standing room already outweighs the capacity of the south stand, any conversion to safe standing limited to the south stand/away end would be insufficient. Many grounds in Germany at our level offer around 50% standing room (at a rough estimate) and I suspect demand would be similar over here, hence why extending it further into the east stand would be a good idea for the long term.

I appreciate many people would prefer to stand at the football (myself included) but also appreciate those who want to sit in their designated seat mustn’t be made to suffer at that expense.

Until safe standing areas are properly legislated for, I can’t see this issue being resolved easily.

Agree and why I have been banging on about Safe Standing for over 10 years since I first brought the roadshow to the Portland Pub in Alvaston and also for Derby County officials.

We have to think about the costs involved and where we are as a club. Safe Standing is permitted, that is no problem, just more the logistics for a club in our situation..

It really isnt allowed under the stadium rules B4. South stand is a seated area. There is no agreement otherwise. As someone just mentioned there were some terrible tragedies that led to all seater stadiums. However, its always been known that fans stand in south stand since the allocations switched around. Same for back rows of other stands. A blind eye is turned. I and most others have no issue with that and get that many want to stand BUT standing in other areas selfishly spoiling the experience for others who have sat there for years and pay good money to do so is just going to lead to a backlash about standing generally. The wide discussion of it will also draw it to the attention of the authorities and as we know they like us to be made an example of.

    I agree. Good post.

If that's the case then there's an argument that any standing area should be expanded beyond the South Stand and the SE corner to accommodate, otherwise the current issues will persist. Glad to know the wheels are in motion, though.

In my personal option this would first be the South Stand. Then probably the upper tier of the current away end so away fans have the choice of sitting or stanading.

Then perhaps two upper tier blocks of the East Stand. I dont think anymore would be needed.

The sooner the standing areas are sorted, the better, by the sounds of it. Any update on the above? I'd wager the demand for tickets in any prospective standing terrace would be much greater than the number of people who currently stand in seated areas.

In terms of DCFC, no update as yet. I am pushing constantly though and its on the radar.

Just to add though, its not a standing terrace and the ratio will still we be 1:1. In fact like it is now but with a rail seat.

  7. Afternoon all

    Happy New Year..

This has been discussed for a while. Those that have done all or even some of the away games this year should be able to relate to this. The atmosphere has not been good enough for the numbers that we taking. Bolton was the tipping block and there are many reasons behind it.

So for every away game with the club's backing we are going back to the dedicated singing block. Not the best terminology but the only wording that can officially be used. This was a great success around the 2017 era.

This is simply a block for those fans that are like minded and want to improve the atmosphere. Its not a block where the singing will only be (obviously) but important that point is made clear. Its also not a block where the only standing will be.

Don't read too much into it. The cringe comments will come, no doubt, but this is needed after a good evaluation this season. Like minded fans cannot get together due to the membership scheme. By the club facilitating this it means that fans who wish to be vocal all game can be together with like minded fans as they will know where to buy their tickets. Likewise, if you don't want to be part of that and just watch the game (like many do) it also gives you the opportunity to be away from this section.

The drum at away games where allowed will also be returning. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but let's be honest you can't please everyone in 2023 and is actually a massive help with tempo and volume in the stands. End of the day its about backing the lads vocally and giving them that extra % which is sometimes needed in a game.

This is already available for the next away game which is Port Vale. A good 4k going as well. Details on the block are on the dcfc website.

Club84 will be the catalysts behind this. Give them your backing. They have been great at displays over the last couple of years and improving the atmosphere away, and at home.

You can claim what you like, but Nick asks for this at every SCG meeting. ?

Hahaha! Yes I do! Watch this space I reckon for safe standing ... only been saying it for 13 odd years! You wouldn't think we were one of the first teams to officially back it ...

I will pop a separate post up soon about the return of the singing blocks. Been on my mind for a while now so glad we managed to get something sorted again.

@Owen87ITK& Sean Barker do a great job of summarising games; it’s become a must-watch for me. Sean Barker is a very insightful analyst and I think he reads the game very well. I appreciate he’s a former footballer so should understand the game very well but it doesn’t always follow that very good former professional players make great analysts.

One feature that I’d like to see though: how about a supporter who has been at the game joining in to give their reaction and analysis? The objective is purely to bring the fans’ view in so the fan doesn’t have to be as expert as say Owen and Sean - the enthusiasm and passion would add another dimension. Thoughts anyone?

Ahaha Ella, reminds me when I had a camera crew from Derby tag along for Derby day 5 odd years ago..

Told the camera crew they needed to be round my house for 6ish as into the pub for 7 odd, it was an early kick off...

They followed me throughout the day and were even buying everyone Jager's, can't ever imagine why.. All a good laugh though but I went to meet Bryso before the game if I recall (could be another game mind) in Frankie's but didn't want the camera there for that as felt it would be imposing. Kind of weird having a camera next to you in the stands as well but a few beers down and you kind of forget..

I think the whole fan view element is pretty much wrapped up in fans TV podcasts and what not. George (eldest lad) who I go with is always watching them on the Sunday. Not sure it would quite work in a studio as would be censored some what and you can't really say well X Y or Z was dog sh*t today...

I recall Nick Webster (@therams69 ) discussing the possibility of the club installing rail seats in the south stand in the early days of the project. I assume that Covid and the Mel Morris debacle curtailed those plans. From my own experience of rail seats at Anfield and the Etihad recently, it can be done very effectively. Just don't expect any leg room when you do come to sit down at half time or the like.

Hoping for some news soon mate. ?

Correct on covid & Mel, although the latter was very keen but this was in amongst his plans for the stadium to be used as a concert venue etc..

I know, the away membership with highest priority always get the worst seats.

I know I mention this all the while, but it's a strange way to reward loyalty. It's like they know we'll put up with anything!

Hear Hear! Plenty of times I have waited until further down the line in sales before buying.

Maybe so. But then on Saturday weren't we playing more like Rosenior would have set us up? #notrocketscience

No. Look who scored the goals.

We had an attacking threat of Dobbin & ML on the wings and 2 up top. Who would have thought it that if you play 2 strikers they score goals at this level. One that scored a hat trick. #notrocketscience

Not seen it at Pride Park for a while. Anyone know what happened to it?

    Hey Poynton

Yep its still going every game. Only missed 2 games this season and that was Plymouth at home and Peterborough at home as on holiday.

As mentioned I do a hold surf in the South Stand if away end full and if not over the East Stand Corner like it was for Exeter.

It's done a few away games this year including Charlton, Mansfield, Shrewsbury. I was running late for Ipswich so couldn't do a surf there which was frustrating but traffic was a nightmare.. With the ground being smaller fairly tough to get it in, Forest Green all them years back was an exception and was bigger than the stand!

It wont be there for Morecambe as terrace too small, probably not Torquay either, will do Liverpool as been allowed before, should be allowed for MK Dons over seats and also a hold / surf at Portsmouth - just need to get there on time!

Aware it needs sewing up as well. It is old mind and costs around £50 everytime I have it done. Very kindly Tom Lawrence and the lads paid last time.

Seeing as its not being seen much may do a West Stand surf one of these days....

Not the stewards fault there was a technical issue with a new system, kept us informed regular enough to keep it all amicable.

It was the whole grd, not just away end and they did say last resort was to manually chk tickets but they were informed it will be fixed, and it was.

I suspect most missing the start were due to not realising it was 7 o'clock ko......

I dont think it was most realising it was a 7pm but the fact that there was 1700 to process through 2 turnstiles. Entry started around 1820 which clearly didn't allow enough time.
