So what's the difference then between "flying" with Billy Davies and getting promoted to the prem, and struggling in league one under Warne?

I've left the answer in the question, to try and help.

Isn't it obvious? Look at the squad we had back then. Quite a few hungry players with something to prove. Certainly not a side that is miss matched and free transfers pretty much. Hence why again we need a few trading windows to allow this.

Are we struggling? Or just not hitting any kind of form? I raise my point again of potentially being 2 points off play offs and 5 off second in the league. If we were towards the bottom I could understand, that we are not as we speak.

Fan expectation is the issue here. It really is and until many realise that and learn to channel it better then we will forever be having to try harder than the opposition. This all works in the favour of opposing managers, just wish many of you could see that. Steve Evans pre match chat is simple, get the first goal, there fans will start booing them and put pressure on them, what happened?

Not from me, but I'm sure there were some. Especially post January. Still Billy was awful and successful you ignored the salient point.

There wasn't any because we were winning. I did every game that year and dont remember it getting toxic once because the football was s**t. We were flying and then January came.............. (another reason why the transfer window needs to remain in place throughout season like it used too)

The league table? The s*** football?

Yeah remember the s**t football under Billy as well. One nil wins here and there. Didn't see any complaints then mind but guess its all about the tika taka football nowadays (FIFA mode right?!)

The league table? For christ sake we are 9th. Win our game in hand and we are 2 points off the play offs and 5 points from second.

Paul Warne gaining his wins in the 3rd division where as others around him played 1st or 2nd division teams. If he was managing the team in the league above I would understand it. But when you're not beat Stevenage and Cheltenham then it does throw these kind of stats into question.

    Let's flip the coin...

All other managers around him had much better players ready for the level they were playing at.

Along with the circumstances involved in the past 2 or so years that other managers also did not have then lets just see it as a positive.

As I said the other day, we can always look for a negative if you try hard enough.

My son and I travel home and away at great expense to support this team. I am not and never will be 'outside noise ' . You should be grateful we care enough to have an opinion of your hopeless coaching ability, trying to play a style that was fit for the 80s.  Never take this club nor the supporters for granted whilst you leach off our backs getting very well paid for a substandard job

Yes me and my Son too, not that it matters really as many follow home and away at great expense. Kind of what we do though and is always a choice to you and your Son..

I am not offended by this in the slightest. In fact he is bang on with his comments. If you wish to be offended that you are the outside noise then perhaps that is a reflection more on you than him.

Lets be honest, and as you know considering you were at Blackpool, fans singing PW your football is s**t at nil nil after 30 minutes is pathetic considering we went onto a great victory that night. A minority of fans sung this but still. 3 nil down fill your boots but at nil nil, jesus would have wept.

All Richie Barker did is publically state that they are getting the players focused and to ignore the negative outside noise, of which there is as we all know. This is good management. Keeping the players positive and focused is the only way we will win football games and get us out this league.

You can twist and turn words all you like to be offended in one way or another. Keep a level head and stay positive. It is amazing what togetherness can do.

He is the type of fella who doesn't care for Academies.

He isn't interested in long term vision, bringing through players and giving youth a chance.

He prefers to sign experienced pros who can get the job done now...any minute now.

I guess the issue is why bother with long term vision when managers are generally out of a job in 2 / 3 years!

Thought the drum was quieter which was good - maybe they've given him a different drum?   After the furore I paid more attention to it on Saturday - really don't think if helps get people singing or helps the atmosphere at all.

It's the fans drum, not a club drum 🙂

Glad you thought that, this is the exact issue of being located at the bottom.

Would it be possible to create som kind of platform for the drum in the Lower Guthrie ?  (which is always empty). It would stir up the West stand a bit and perhaps the upper Guthrie would like it ? I don’t think it is a good idea to block exit and entrance on the concourse pre match with the drum. So much energy is wasted down there , perhaps that is why fans are “Burnt out” after 15 mins.

This is not the point of the drum though Jim and why we have the issue.

It's not a case of being burnt out - its just how it is!

As someone that sits in the north stand, it's felt like the south stand has been a library for a while.

I miss the 'Since I was young' chant that went around the ground from the Mac1 days. It was nice to finally hear that chant at the Oxford game. Unfortunately the players performance meant the chant didn't get much steam going for it, but one worth trying again soon I hope!

Hence the reason many of us are 'trying' to do something. May not please everyone but the effort is there from many individuals.

Remember when we started that at Charlton away, was the song of the year for sure. Kind of been on the back burner of recent but if you have seen the concourse video on the socials with South Korean Lee it was at the perfect tempo rather than being rushed as it often is in the stands.

P.S Turn your volume down if you feel the drum is too loud.

My favourite thing about all this is the amount of people on here and on Twitter who are claiming that they have a season ticket in the South Stand and love to join in the atmosphere

Statistically some of you are lying because the South Stand is like a library if we haven't scored in the first 15 minutes..

I would say first 10 Tombo, dont be so generous.

The atmosphere picked up well v Oxford when the lads gave us something to get exited about. I don’t think we need a drum roll every time we get over the half way line.  Away fans do take the P about it .

    1. A football atmosphere should never be relied upon only if a team is playing well. It helps yes. But shouldn't be relied upon. Such an English thing that.

    2. That's not what the drum is ever used for in the stands.

    3. Away fans do take the p**s because he is the wrong place at the front.

Bring back the drum! Shame one misery guts has ruined it for everyone else

Unfortunately its more than one ..

However, since all this has come out, aside from this forum, received many compliments from Block D who loved having him in there.

It would at least make clear who are keen and who are NIMBYs. It's a loud thing to stand next to all game, but like a church bell if it's there first...

You know what its actually not! The only ones that tend to be bothered are the fans that are not up for it. And I guess that is the problem here. We wouldn't be in this situation if everything was rosy.

If everyone around it is joining it you dont notice it, if anything it makes you sing lounder whilst the drum keeps the tempo. I think many think we are talking a huge drum here that has some serious base.

Just trying to make a difference before many fans lose interest.

Look forward to it mate, last time I went was 1984 and we spent more time on the pitch than the players 😂

Remember it well! Good set of fans. They have a drum in their stands as well. Wonder if there fans complain.... Or maybe they sit in the other 3 stands. Always looks sold out to me..

Yes and that's your opinion. People shouldn't be forced to do something just because you personally think that's how things should be done.

If there are no available seats then don't use the drum. Your solution of moving people out of the south stand if they don't like the drum also won't work in that case will it then if there are no available seats.

I'm not sure you understood what I said. If you can hear the drum from the other side of the ground, which you can, its going to damage the hearing of anybody sat next to it. That is the point. Nobody is going to want to have to experience that game after game unless they are smashed off their head and don't know any better

And guess what ..... If there were no chiefs and just Indians nothing would change or improve....

We all know there are no available seats for a mass group to make a difference, the South is the first stand that sells out - good revenue spinner for the club. That being said Arsenal and United both moved fans to accommodate a fans group wanting to improve the atmosphere.

And yes that is your opinion........ As valid as mine by the sounds of it. You dont need to be smashed off your head to experience it. I have drove to many games and been fine with it. And if you are hearing it in the comfort of the North Stand, just perhaps the fans are not loud enough to drown it out which should be the case as it used to be.

  16. 1 hour ago, RoyMac5 said:

Perhaps a small group of you South standers could agree to move seats and form a little cluster around the drummer?

In all honestly Mr RoyMac this would be the desired plan. However, it would mean displacing fans currently and the club are not keen as we speak. This was mentioned to them months ago.

It makes me laugh when people say they want to be in and around the atmosphere but don't want to contribute. FFS, if everyone felt like that there'd be no bloody atmosphere!

This is the problem Angie... In anything that is tried or tested it will always be a case of someone taking issue with it...
