Then get given a so called punishment and appeal it and get the proper representation at the hearings to follow through our case. We should use the full parameters of what we are allowed to do.  Especially if we believe we have acted within the law

It seems to me that the EFL are worried that we might win an appeal and therefore want to commit us to an agreed punishment. They state there is no timescale so presumably they are intending to draw this out until we are forced to agree to their proposals.

Hardly seems fair and begs the question “who regulates the regulator”.

  2. Although I enjoyed the game, Boro really are a horrible team made in the image of their Manager. So much feigning injury, leaving a foot (or elbow) in and gamesmanship (cheating). I really hope that we never, ever have Colin as our Manager.

I felt we mostly stood up well to their strong arm tactics, however the weakest referee that I can remember at PP didn’t help us at all. We did well in the first half and on the balance of play perhaps deserved to be ahead. However in the 2nd half Boro pressed us hard so a draw was probably a fair result.

For me Jagielka stood out a country mile, always talking to and organising those around him. We lack a strong but skilful 15/20 goal a season striker, dare I say it, of the Chris Martin type. It’s funny I was never a great fan of his but I reckon he would have made a big difference to us in the final third yesterday.

  3. It felt so good to be back at PP and I felt that we did okay considering the turmoil within the club atm.

Forsyth had a really good game as did Curtis Davies, however Joz was disappointing. Our starting 11 lack any pace both front and back and Huddersfield were happy to press high up the pitch. This changed with the introduction of Sibley and Esobele, suddenly the our opponents were worried about runners in behind and we looked much more threatening.

Looking at the highlights for their goal it looks like 3 players are offside when the free kick is actually taken. Kazim loses his man who scores with a header from inside the 6 yard box, I felt at the time that Roos could have come for the cross. He did however make a great reaction save late in the game. Sibley had a great chance near the end but a draw was probably a fair result.

Hopefully we will improve as the season progresses.

We can't afford to sack Rooney. If we could, would we change the manager? I'd expect so, so if there's any truth in this story it suggests we're looking for a way to have him leave without a payoff. And, as has been said, if we try to force the issue we're more than likely to lose as we've such an appalling record in the courts.

    Everything is a mess.

Maybe ask him to resign. Failing that suspend him, then ask him again, nicely of course ?

Whatever Wayne Rooney has or has not done (let’s remember we don’t actually know what happened) let’s not kid ourselves that It has tarnished any fantastic reputation we have or had, the club is the laughing stock of the leagues nothing to do with what Rooney

I would guess then it’s a case of WR trying to manage highly paid professional footballers with do as I say not as I do.

Given the club’s recent history I would say that DCFC need a manager who players can respect and look to for help and guidance, especially our younger lads.

Think I can safely say that Wayne is not that man…

Most professional or responsible roles will have something to the effect of "expecation to conduct themselves in an appropreate manner that will not bring embarrasment to the company" somewhere in the contract. If you've got a big boy job with big boy wages, then act like a grown up. In the real world it's a pretty reasonable expectation.

Wayne’s conduct has been far from ideal in these difficult times. The reputation of our fantastic club has been tarnished recently but most people would expect our Manager to have the basic nous to keep himself away from embarrassing situations.

Time to do the right thing Wayne - resign your incredibly well paid position and concentrate on what is important in life, looking after yourself and your family.

He's currently doing his B Licence under the Player2Coach initiative, will have his UEFA B by end of year.

    *Edit

I may have the specifics wrong, but he's working on a course it may be the FA Level 3 (UEFA B) or the FA Level 4 (UEFA A) that he's doing, and the Player2coach seems to be a BAME course, but had dinner with a St. Georges Park coach last week who is a friend of Waynes and he told me that he will have the badge required for the Champ by Christmas and it was an accelerated course like the Player2Coach scheme.

    Assuming he passes. ?

Totally concur with your thoughts just the gardening leave bit would be a no goer IMHO as we would then be paying two managers concurrently....seeing as we can't afford to pay off Rooney's contract now and get a replacement in then it wouldn't be viable. Bum.

We would have to continue to pay WR but if we promote from within there may be no increase in the total salary bill

  9. As far as I am aware Wayne Rooney has no coaching qualifications. Why then is he the Manager of DCFC when there are plenty of more qualified people and more experienced people who are already employed by the club. Mclaren, Rosenior, Wassell and Walker are all better qualified and in all probability would do a better job.

The best thing for the club would be for Wayne to walk away, if this isn’t an option gardening leave is probably the best option.

Nigel Clough was sacked some 9 months before Morris bought the club.

Sam Rush was clearly some trickster. He managed to undertake player negotiations, agree and sign contracts, write cheques and transfer monies, and organise strange payments to the likes of Mrs Ince, all without Messrs Morris and Pearce having the slightest knowledge of what was going on.  At least Morris got his day in court to expose his concealed trickery. Oh wait….

Hadn’t realised that. Could have sworn it was Mel’s doing, remember thinking why appoint a football agent as your CEO it’s just asking for trouble.

When Mel took over he inherited a good squad and then supplied the funds for Mac to bring in Thorne on a permanent and a few other players …at that stage I felt we couldn’t be in a better place and we were heading in the right direction

A few seasons on and it is a total and utter shambles and although some poor managerial appointments haven’t helped what we as fans have no insight into is how the books are being balanced are the HMRC being paid are staff wages being paid etc etc in other words running a business

The embarrassing shambolic mess of a once great football club is down to Mel and his associates I’m afraid whether anyone thinks he has good intentions or not …his side of it was to maintain the football club we love and he has failed

I’m sick to death of hearing our club being spoke about in such low terms and Mel seemed ok on talksport boasting that he’d had one over on the efl etc but I’m sorry all we as fans asked of Mel was to run the club we adore ….properly !!! He has failed and for me I certainly will never forgive him for the mess we are in ….managers make bad decisions so do players but that’s part of the game …but crossing the tees and dotting the I’s on the business side we trusted Mr Morris and he has let us down …good intentions or not

All down to Sam Rush in my opinion. Certainly Mel appointed him but we have all been taken for a mug in some way.

Mr Rush couldn’t wait to get rid of Clough who was managing the team in a sustainable manner and spending Mel’s cash as if it was his own. Sadly this wasn’t enough for the vocal minority, the rest is history.

Perhaps be careful what you wish for…

Didn't the papers say £20m to HMRC?
Instalment(s) are apparently for Marriott - hence his contract extension being revoked in December

Okay, thanks. Can’t be much left on Marriott. £20 million to HMRC sounds high, presumably VAT and NHI payments.

    Bit worrying….

As people know, there are different types of embargo. Usually known as only 'soft' and 'hard' embargoes.

As it turns out, if we were under an embargo just for P&S reasons alone then the 'established player' rule kicks in, which would allow us to sign more players. This rule means only players aged 21 and above AND named in the starting XI 5 times of a senior competition (excluding non-league) count towards the maximum number of 23 players. We currently have only 10 players who fall under this category. I believe this is the commonly referred to 'soft embargo'

However, as we have been put under an embargo for reasons which aren't relating to P&S (HMRC, transfer installments) we've been put under much stricter controls, which is where the 'professional standing' rule is used. I believe this is what is a 'hard embargo' - if it isn't then I'd hate to be under one. This means any player to have appeared in any game is counted towards the squad limit - we currently stand at 27.

Forget about getting the accounts in, the most important thing is closing out the HMRC and installment(s). At least then, we'd be able to sign someone.

Any idea how much we owe HMRC and what instalments are outstanding and for which players. Apologies if this has already been stated on the thread.

I think we used a different amortisation policy (unique in football, but not non-compliant with accountancy practice according to the original views of the DC). This pushed losses to the end of player contracts, giving us a bigger hit in the fourth year of a contract - effectively gambling on being promoted within four years. Once it was clear that the losses would hit without premiership money to cover it, we legally sold our stadium to cover the cost.

Different or unique doesn’t make it wrong. In many ways yearly revaluations of the worth of player registrations make more sense in the unique market place of football transfers than the straight line method.

Unfortunately we failed to properly document our valuations with any evidence and so they were perceived as figures plucked out of thin air. This is I believe why the EFL won their appeal and is quite possibly the only thing we have done wrong, an oversight that will cost the club £100,000 and possibly more ?

  15. As I understand the situation we have been fined £100,000, in football terms a derisory amount. I would normally call this one hell of a result!

We are also required to resubmit our financial submissions to the EFL taking into account the “correct” method of revaluation of player registrations by the 18th August 2021. This should not be a shock or a surprise to anyone, as soon as the EFL won the appeal it was obvious that this would need to happen. I would imagine that DCFC recalculations were completed some time ago.

Hopefully the revised figures will pass FFP requirements, if not then we face a probable point deduction next season.

However in an attempt perhaps to save face the EFL claims that they have drawn two sets of fixtures allowing Wycombe to replace DCFC in the Championship this coming season, in certain somewhat unlikely circumstances.

I have to ask why they have gone to the trouble of announcing this? There was no need to say anything, they could have kept it quiet. The EFL it seems are intent on destroying our historic club. Few players will even consider signing for us with this knowledge and in these circumstances, relegation this season seems inevitable even without a points deduction and with the possibility of L2 the following season. Certain people it would seem are mindlessly pursuing a personal vendetta against our owner and in the process are willing to destroy one of the football leagues founding members.

Who supervises the EFL? Try Googling it. The answer is seemingly nobody, they can do as they wish - if you don’t like it - tough. My own suggestion is contact your MP, write, email or call, ask him or her to raise a question in Parliament- why not!

I believe that the club has been far too passive, almost submissive so far. Bully’s don’t like it when you fight back.

Received an email letter saying about potential charges for cancelling my Direct Debit, despite being told to.

I understand it's unprecedented times, but getting increasingly frustrated and the lack of communication is making me feel unvalued ?

We are considering cancelling our season tickets due to economics and the current Covid situation in which I see little possibility of spectators being allowed to attend matches during this season.

We both pay by monthly direct debit and slightly concerned about the legality of cancellation and possible charges. Has anyone had any experience of this?

Like I say though, I think the fans and the club are taking his role as captain far too seriously.

It’s just a bunch of work mates on a night out ultimately. He’s not on captain mode there, he’s with his mates.

Alan Shearer nearly killed Keith Gillespie in a drunken fight as Newcastle and England captain!

It happens. They’re blokes on the piss. They do stupid things.

    Morning Richard ?
