Hoppo reacted to Ambitious in Knight playing Right back
We’ve barely played with a right back this season to be fair, Knight has played the role very well. Rotherham, under Warne, didn’t play a right wing back either. The player who played that position was often the outlet on the wing and played as high as the strikers. I’d imagine Mendez-Laing will get that role. Knight back in midfield.

Same here. I stopped going England games in the 1980's when the Chelsea National Front/Combat 18/BNP types took over. I twatted one cretin who was part of a gang outside the Vulcan Street Popside once when he was trying to push nazi leaflets on to me. My mixed race mate was seriously scared until a few of us got rid of the racists.
The no surrender stuff just reminds me of brain dead racist dheads.

Hoppo reacted to RebelScum in Jake Brierley Port Vale (H) 08-10-22 Family Request
Hi guys
My nephew, Jake passed away on August 12th aged 23. Despite being dealt a bad hand he enjoyed life to the full possessing a sharp, dry wit and a fondness for dressing well - the other thing we had in common ? was our love for Derby County!
Many of you will recognise Jake, a life-long season ticket holder in the West Stand attending matches with his Dad.
His family are orchestrating a minutes applause at the 23rd minute during the Port Vale home match on Saturday October 8th.
Extended family will be in attendance and there will be a brief write up about Jake in the match day programme.
These tributes are becoming more common, but I think that because they are often not official and fan-led they are even more poignant - and it would be a great gesture for one of our own.
Assistance in spreading the word from members of this forum would be so very much appreciated.

Hoppo got a reaction from Carl Sagan in How have our expectations now changed?
Fair enough, i might have over egged it on the league one survival, but there was a time when none of us knew if we’d still be in existence. Original poll is here.
I went for play offs. I’d still be happy if we made the playoffs. Just with the appointment of Warne, makes me think the bar may have been raised a bit by the club, and there is now an expectation of finishing in the automatics.

That's not true though if you actually read the article properly
It quotes his record in League 1

Hoppo reacted to England Ram in Paul Warne appointed as Head Coach
This is from my mate who’s worked at Derby, Rotherham and other places in football.
He’s a Spurs fan at heart but I’ll allow that weirdness from him.
I asked his opinion on us getting Warne and this is his reply…..
‘Mate what a signing ! If anyone can get you out of league 1 it’s him.! Likes a certain attitude doesn’t accept big time Charlie’s. Proper manager. Like wise Ritchie who comes with him and Matt.’
I’ll take that.
I’ll get behind him.
Hope Liam goes on to be successful in whatever he does.

The thing is, do you honestly expect that Warne will have the current squad looking like they are on for automatics by Xmas ? Because I don't see it and I wouldn't see it of nearly any manager.
The sacking of Rosenior has laid down the marker of where the expectation level is at and its at automatic promotion. I just don't see how the decision is justifiable otherwise. And yet I don't personally think it's realistic. Never mind that it might be a bumpy transition based on styles, it being a squad Rosenior has assembled and the pressure of expectation.

Championship must be rubbish as well then because Rotherham are 8th with the same number of ppg and no away wins either. They have scored a couple of away goals though (2), so that's a weight off my mind.
I'll support the team as ever and judge Warne on more than 9 league games, but giving him a 4 year contract has a very familiar and uncomfortable ring to it. I do hope that, if results take a downward turn, people remember where sacking managers on long contracts got us last time and show a bit of patience.

My worry is that if Warne does decide to change things up (and let's face it he has to, otherwise why would we go for him?) it might just unsettle what was showing signs of working.
The team in my opinion were just getting it together. It might take a new regime with a different playing philosophy another 9 or 10 games to get it right and get the players in that mindset, which could see us further down the ladder than we are now.
Hopefully, we will get the obligatory new manager bounce and he will be able to maintain it.

We sit in 7th level on points which we determined wasn't good enough for LR to keep his job. Warne must now get playoffs at least otherwise its a failure, surely?
If short termism is the path we're going down, then immediate promotion is the aim

A modicum of turmoil (again), I (almost) missed it.
I just want a period of calm where we talk about football, watch football and see where that takes us. LR did OK and I am not convinced we needed a change. He could have been helped with a stronger backroom staff with more experience to lean on. imho, but that's it.

Hoppo reacted to Carl Sagan in Liam Rosenior
There can be various arguments about the Wycombe game in terms of whether or not we should have started with that formation, and whether or not the changes were forced on Rosenior. I'll be really interested to see how we line up next game.
What really heartened me and showed LR can learn and change and not be too stubborn, was that we didn't take any stupid short goalkicks across the six yard area. Thank goodness. I hope we don't see them again as a planned tactic.
As someone who longs to see players use their football brains and always try to wrong foot opponents, it's fine to take a surprise short goalkick if a quick-thinking player recognizes it will help catch the opposition off guard. But never as the default, while grinning opposition forwards line up on the edge of our penalty area ready to charge our keeper down.

I remember at the BBG in the 70’s when they would shout Heanor , Heanor and the pop side would respond Sharples Sharples. For the more “mature “ supporters ?

Is it just me, or is anyone else really enjoying Derby playing football outside of the televised, media saturated nonsense?
Games mostly at predictable times, less messing about. Something a bit more simple and 'pure' about it all.
Don't get me wrong, I cannot wait for us to get back up at some point to start rubbing people's face in it, but I'm enjoying this season so far.
