I doubt any club in the premiership is in financial difficulty. Ride the gravy train as long as you can safe in the knowledge that you have parachute payments if the worst happened.

Looks to me, based on managerial resignation and others turning the job down after accepting it, coupled with selling good players seemingly on the cheap, that Swansea are in a bit of trouble now their parachute payments have/are run out.
The whole system is of course broken and biased but that is a different conversation. Just strikes me that if a football club needs cash then selling as many tickets as you can and treating your loyal fans with courtesy, respect and common decency whilst communicating honestly is a pretty good idea.

What was the point of having a supporters meeting asking attendees to elicit questions from the fan base safe in the knowledge that the information imparted during that meeting was never going to be able to be shared with the wider supporters?

Yep ! But I suppose that is what happens in an information vacuum. We all have a sense of right and wrong. We need to voice it  , we are partisan, but we also really don’t know the full picture.
If I could say anything that holds a grain of truth it is that a majority of championship clubs have been playing accounting games in an attempt to stay within the rules. I doubt Derby are any worse than 4 or 5 other larger clubs and there will be minnows in difficulty on a different scale. It does seem strange though that we are under a level of scrutiny that others are not, and that the scrutiny has been far more lengthy than any other club has faced. .. I struggle to believe we are that out of step with the industry as a whole.

Have to say the more I read all this, and the longer this all goes on, I really do wonder if it is as simple as blind, childish obstinance on the EFL's part, whilst we're saying "look, I get you're not happy but legally we've done nothing wrong, so what you're asking us to do, well, much as we could do it, we can't actually legally do that so you'll just have to accept that the way we've done our accounts is legally correct, so put down your rattle, take your thumb out your mouth, stop whining and let us move on with our lives please".

I thought he was very unfortunate to be substituted this afternoon.  Morrison had exhausted himself first half (he was everywhere).
    Jozwiak was excellent.

Yeah I thought the sub was going to be for either Sibley or Morrison both of whom looked knackered. Jozwiak still looked bright at that point.

Another great player from our academy. Nobody can say anything bad about our Will. Another player who is Derby through and through.

Remember the time when we played Fulham in the semi final of the play offs, he was in the middle of our supporters in the pub.

Its a bit like on here. Some fans are generally supportive and encouraging others are more critical and prefer to point out the perceived faults. Both claim to be fans but I know which group I would rather have a drink with.

Pure guesswork but is it not possible that we filed the accounts in time for the original deadline but the EFL wanted more clarification so agreed the second deadline to which DCFC have now complied with more information?

derbydaz22 reacted to Eatonram in Embargo.
Less than a week ago the EFL mentioned constructive talks, clearly something has been submitted, it is hard to imagine the club would ignore the deadline and sanction imposed by the DC after those constructive talks. Neither the Club or EFL are giving any more information which IMO can only mean they have agreed on this position. If the two parties had now gone back to opposing positions the Club would surely issue a statement contradicting the EFL as they have done before. For the time being I can't see how we should assume disaster from what we have heard today. It is just the drawn out nature that is so hard to bear.

I remember watching McGrath in that season and what a joy he was to behold.
Positional sense and speed of thought above anyone I’d seen play in defence for Derby.
I’m 45 now so never got to see the champion winning team but have seen the likes of Wright, Hindmarsh, Stimac etc but for that one season Paul McGrath was absolutely immense.
I remember him tracking a runner who had beat him for pace as a ball was played through and in stride Paul back healed a clearance further than some were able to make a normal clearance. The striker turned to look at him and just shook his head in disbelief.

If Phil Jagielka can bring us even a fraction of what McGrath gave us in his one season we will find ourselves safe and secure for another year.
    Yesterday was a promising start.

Think you've proven my point to an extent. He has moments of genius but he lacks consistency & discipline. Being captain requires both of those attributes to improve & the hope is that this appointment will focus his mind - particularly with him playing for a last big contract probably elsewhere (he's 28 in Jan) & wanting to be part of a Welsh squad going to the World Cup next year.
Did see some promising signs from him back end of last season (during an atrocious run for the team in general) - scored 3 in our last 7, looked menacing in general & worked hard. Perhaps Rooney is able to get the best out of him. We will see.
