I spend a lot of time reading these pages but don't often contribute much so bear with me!
One thing I think we would all agree on is that the club is in a mess and we were very lucky to survive last season. I don't think there's anyone that thinks this season will be any easier.
The EFL in my opinion clearly have an agenda to make this season as difficult as possible for Derby. We are certainly not shopping in the same stores that we used to, in terms of player recruitment and this can be seen by the out of contract players currently training with us.
Now this is where I think we as fans can make a difference. I am becoming more and more frustrated when I read negative comments, especially about players who haven't even kicked a ball yet. For example....
Jagielka was an established premier League defender and with some younger legs around him, COULD become a quality signing.
Ravel Morrison has bags of ability and MAY have matured. The highlight reels certainly show there is a player that has an awful lot to offer if his head's in the right place.
Tom Lawrence has definitely been inconsistent. He has also had a drink problem, lost his mum and suffered personal issues not to mention Joiner Gate! BUT....he has bags of ability and giving him the captaincy could just be the kick up the bum he needs.
These examples could easily be turned from possible positives to negatives.
However I can tell you one thing that is absolutely guaranteed .....and that is that we have the best possible chance of success If we get fully behind the team, remain positive and come together against those trying to knock us down such as the EFL, some other clubs, managers and chairmen.
I'm sick to death of reading negative comments from some who seem to think that we're entitled to success or think it's fine to boo etc as they've 'paid their money '.
We've been in the second flight for a long time now and in my opinion never closer to dropping down another level.
So would you rather be positive and effectively become the 12th Man or be negative and add to the problem? ...and by the way I don't mean moaning that we've not played well. That's part of football and being a supporter. I mean almost personal attacks on players, management and chairman.
Be interested to hear people's views but really feel that if we can create some positivity we may just scrape by this season and give us a chance to move on again in a year's time. ...waffle over!

Think you've proven my point to an extent. He has moments of genius but he lacks consistency & discipline. Being captain requires both of those attributes to improve & the hope is that this appointment will focus his mind - particularly with him playing for a last big contract probably elsewhere (he's 28 in Jan) & wanting to be part of a Welsh squad going to the World Cup next year.
Did see some promising signs from him back end of last season (during an atrocious run for the team in general) - scored 3 in our last 7, looked menacing in general & worked hard. Perhaps Rooney is able to get the best out of him. We will see.

I think Rooney has just recognised that Tom is a good player and we need to get more out of him. He hopes that by giving him the armband, it brings the best out of him on the pitch. He can't hide or get lost in games because he is the captain. He is forced to step up and perform to a high level week in week out. Let's hope it works.

I agree CKR would have a decent choice but I don’t really see that his admirable views and comments about racism should be a factor. We need a leader out there on the pitch. It remains to be seen if Tom proves to be that person but I’m prepared to give him a chance.

I've been going over it in my head.
We are a Championship club going into the 2021/22 season. We have now confirmed that fact, also we know the ramifications from our amortisation has largely been a £100k fine. We now have to input our new figures with two variations to amortisation allowed. We technically made a £8m loss between 2014-2017 thanks to the stadium sale, therefore I would suspect that we will fall below the P&S regulations and receive no point deduction. I struggle to see how kicking the can down the road can incur an addition north of £31m in losses - especially based on an accounting principle. It will be worse for the three years in question, but ultimately that will help our situation against FFP between 2017-2021. Although, god knows what the current situation entails with regards to the EFL and that mess due to COVID. It seems every man and his dog is under some sort of soft embargo.
I'd imagine that potential new owners will now be willing to progress matters, which obviously will help our situation - if there is actually anyone waiting in the wings. I'm not entirely sure on Mel's situation, although financially it doesn't look great for either him or us. I know he's keeping the club going and will continue to do so, but I can't imagine that he is going to be too willing to start another rebuild. I don't think he's ever had the correct system in place to achieve success, in hindsight, so any more money he spends trusting the same people will likely lead to the same results.
The team as it stands will be amongst the worst in the Championship, if not THE worst in the Championship. Rooney & the coaching staff really haven't proven anything to suggest they aren't the worst set up in the league. Along with our terrible recruiting, it's not the best situation. We really need someone to come in and change the entire culture of the club. I genuinely can't think of ANY department in the entire club that couldn't do with improvement - I bet even the canteen lady makes a poo brew!
The overall achievement should always be to become and sustain a Premier League position. At the moment, we've had to regress and our achievement is to remain and sustain a Championship club. I have no optimism above that going into next season.

It's good to touch base on this now and again. Currently we are only guilty after appeal of not flagging up a different amortisation policy to everyone else. Not an illegal one just a different one.
Now, in time, due to the acceptance of the charge, we may be guilty of failing P&S BUT only if in time our resubmissions fail. So, to repeat, at this time we are only guilty of not flagging up a DIFFERENT BUT NOT illegal amortisation policy. BIG DEAL!
I have to keep reminding myself incase I'm going mad.

We're in constant cycle of nonsense until the EFL put a stop to it. A takeover likely wont happen until the inevitable appeal from the EFL is concluded. Nobody with a fully functional head would buy a football club at this point not knowing which division it will be in. You'd have to have rocks for brains to buy us unless the EFL actually turn around and say "if you take over we will not appeal".
The EFL process could take weeks or months, a time in which we are in a state of paralysis. If the appeal doesn't go the EFL's way they will no doubt look to drag it out beyond even that somehow and on we go, round and round ad nauseam.
For a governing body that professes to look out for its member clubs they do an absolutely shocking job of looking out for its member clubs.

I think all Rams fans should do the same, as the EFL is out of control and not showing any fairness in its approach.
    Every bit helps !!

I would ask you urgently to intervene in the witch-hunt being undertaken by the EFL towards my football club, Derby County.
Having been fined £100 000 yesterday and warned re future accounting practices, following investigation by an independent panel ( for the second time), the EFL continue to press for a points deduction, with an unprecedented aim to relegate the club after the season has finished.
What is the point of an independent panel if its decision is not respected by the regulator ?
I feel the EFL is out of control, is being heavily influenced by third parties and is therefore not acting in a fair and unbiased way.
The EFL needs to be warned by the government about its behaviour towards its member clubs. Currently its approach is verging on bullying and I suspect it will end in the High Court, with the destruction of a founder member of the football league and hundreds of associated redundancies.

That's how I see it. By moving the hit to later for each player we had a season or two more in which to achieve promotion. The problem is that those players weren't good enough. What it also means in my opinion, is that we gained an advantage because we didn't have to sell our sellable assets. Nothing illegal or against any League rules (at the time).

derbydaz22 reacted to Dan_Ram in Changing the narrative…
There have been some really valid points on here and elsewhere over the last few days about the conduct of the EFL, not acting in good faith towards clubs, actively seeking to impose punishments that threaten the existence of a member club, not considering impact on both ourselves and Wycombe in terms of planning for the new season, their judgements seeming to be driven by a vendetta against the club, and not to even mention the severe impact this is having on the mental health of supporters from affected clubs. Then we have the arguments around impartiality and bias of the EFL as well as the ethical grounds (considering they previously signed off the accounts) for pursuing this, and as the club have confirmed, doubts of the legality of a points deduction for a technical accounting error.
My point is, tabloids and click bait websites all over the internet just assumes that Derby are guilty and that we deserve every punishment we get. Some of the headlines I’ve seen like ‘championship club caught systematically cheating’ are clearly libellous and misinformed (probably intentionally to gain views)…
… but is there anything we as fans can do to change the narrative?
Why arent any impartial news outlets or investigative journalists criticising or investigating the (at best) shady conduct of a supposed governing body? Surely if found to be true you would have a bigger story on your hands there.

I know plenty of people will say ‘fans won’t be able to achieve anything’ but people laughed when the prospect of going down and supporting the lads on the last day of the season were raised, yet I honestly believe that was the extra 1% that saw us over the line against Wednesday.
I just feel like a little kid watching his older brother getting beaten up by a bunch of thugs, knowing that there’s nothing we can do to help. But is there? Crowdfunding the 100k fine with a damning message regarding the EFL corruption has been suggested, surely banners, protests, chanting against the EFL at the first game is a must? - I don’t know if people have seen the Legia Warsaw Vs UEFA pig banner before..
Time for a bit of fan action against the EFL. What else can we do?

derbydaz22 reacted to Day in Rooney to Consider Quitting
If Rooney doesn’t resign, we have to sack him, to sack him will cost money.
Now the club have to look at this and say ok, do we believe in Rooney or not and take the financial hit.
You also then have to look at replacements, Evatt the name which gets thrown around, that will still cost to bring him in.
It’s ok coming up with dream managerial combos, but Wassall and McClaren might not even have any interest in the job.
McClaren was at Uni studying to move upstairs into a comfy office running a club.
Rooney is still here so that says they believe in him, which also means the players believe in him as it’s pretty obvious when they don’t.
So no, our best chance is actually just getting behind the bloke and give him that chance.
Draw a line under last season and see what happens.
Sitting here calling for his head, helping to continue this negative atmosphere which will spread like wildfire over the internet and follow into the ground when we can get back in, will be actively working against us.
Carry on though if that’s what you want, disagree strongly with what’s going on but it’s your voice to use.

So agree the EFL, the clubs it represents in this and Derby are all behaving like petulant school children, common sense needs to prevail and both parties need to resolve it. However that takes BOTH parties, if the EFL and the clubs involved are hell bent on coming after us with everything they have got then we have no choice but to defend ourselves and position. For heaven sake they’ve come out saying we have two fixture lists while they decide which league we’re in when they have absolutely no cause to and no precedent to support it. The forest rag talking about Derby fixtures have asterisks against them. How the hell can we plan. It’s beyond vindictive.
