Sorry Wolfie when you get to 62 you become grumpy 😀. I've never been a fan of Eurovision even as a teenager from the likes of The Brotherhood Of Man, ABBA, Bucks Fizz etc I have hated it. I've just been a lover of good pop artists/groups like David Bowie, Queen, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Motown, Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, Dua Lipa.

😂 Fair enough. I'm just turned 50, so have a few years to grumpify!

I completely agree with @Stive Pesley, I'd hate to watch this stuff every week but as an annual one off, it's just fun entertainment IMO.

The good songs (and yes, there are always a few) are good and even the bad ones are normally so bad, they're good entertainment also. Our entry this year sounds like it could have been a Katie Perry or Dua Lipa song, I reckon.

The way they do the voting now also is very good at keeping the interest going til the end.

  2. Grumpy bugger.

It's a bit of fun. I like it.

But for the Ukraine war, we would have deservedly won last year and we've got a decent song in again this time round. It's a very catchy pop tune, though I'm not sure it's distinctive enough to stand out on the night unless the staging & performance is top-notch.

We're also performing last, which is usually seen as a good thing.

    I'll be watching.

Just in case anyone doesn't read the link and thinks GB News is being harshly dealt with, just for giving a different opinion, this is the garbage they let broadcast unchallenged:

"During the interview, Naomi Wolf made serious claims about the Covid-19 vaccine, including that its rollout amounted to a pre-meditated crime – “mass murder” – and was comparable to the actions of “doctors in pre-Nazi Germany”.

Probably where Andrew Brigden got it from.....

I used to pause on GB News from time to time, while flicking round the channels & think it wasn't too bad. The last time I did so, a few weeks ago, I can't even remember the topic but the presenter and two contributors were all feeding off each other in a swivel-eyed frenzied descent into conspiritorial lunacy.

I know the BBC get mocked for their insistance on balance but this was just manic ranting by the end.

    Never again.

Many years ago, my wife & I went to Comet to buy a compact HiFi - when we went up to the counter to place our order, the staff member started really pressing us to take out the extended warranty 'insurance' - I told him we didn't want it (it wasn't an expensive purchase anyway) - unfortunately his desire to get his commission on the warranty prompted him to pull out an absolutely huge folder from under the desk and exclaim "Just look how many claims we've had on things we sell" - to which I replied (in a very loud voice in front of a lot of people queing behind us) "So you're telling me the stuff you sell is crap?" - he couldn't put the folder away quickly enough....we didn't go through with the purchase....

It's when you get asked about extended warranties when buying something for a tenner from Argos. You can see the embarrassment from the poor staff, who are presumably contractually obliged to do so.

  5. Maybe we've just been lucky but our appliances are doing a sterling job.

Main TV (Sony) - 9 Years

Bedroom TV (Toshiba) - 15 years

Fridge & Washing Machine (BEKO) - 9 years each

    Dishwasher (Bosch) - 9 years

Tumble Dryer (BEKO) - 8 years

Must have saved a few quid on extended warranties that I've always refused.

Of course I also realise that nothing is going to work when I get home tonight.

American comedies aint funny to me but Modern family is one of my favorite programs. The episodes are short and iv just finished watching 11 seasons of it. and just started over again. Would recommend. Most of them are on Disney+

On the whole I really enjoyed it but it did go off a bit towards the end IMO.

I'd recommend "Life in Pieces" in that case. It's on Prime but not sure where else it's available. Each episode is split into 4 distinct stories.

  7. Isn't it inevitable that the gamesmanship side of it will come into the women's game as the money increases?.

You'd like to think that the relative lack of it to date would feed into the men's game but I'm not holding my breath on that.
