Question. Why do we, a country that has almost zero natural disasters of any sort, need this system?
Is it because someone in government needed to dish out a contract to a mate or is it because they are expecting us to get caught up in some global nuclear war?
I reckon it's the first one.
It's intended for things like floods and serious fires etc, so presuambly must be possible to make the alerts highly localised.

Blimey! I'd forgotten all about that.
Must be 30 years since I saw any? How strange!
It doesn't happen any more. Something to do with dog food changing. There's something they used to put in it that they don't now (maybe calcium?)
The things you learn (and then half-forget) from QI!

"As if the flight test was not exciting enough, Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly before stage separation,"
Oh OK, I thought it had blown up.

If it wasn’t for Chelsea and City, then the PL would have become like the Bundesliga a long time ago.
What, not awash with billions of pounds and match tickets for a tenner?.
I believe I could live with that.

It made me chuckle that I'm no rocket scientist but you could clearly see on the video feed that it was rotating in a death spiral but they were still talking about imminent separation and wondering if it had happened yet.

Liverpool game is going to be fun after six against dotty Leeds. Be less and less of them droning on about 'Stevie Cooper'
Hope so but Liverpool are so inconsistent. They smashed Man U and then lost to bottom placed Bournemouth in their next game.....having smashed Bournemouth 9-0 earlier in the season. Plus losing to Leeds and Forest.

Anyone venturing up into the Peaks?. We've just had a great meal (Sunday) at The Barrel Inn at Bretton (near Eyam/Tideswell/Stoney Middleton).
Great food and gorgeous location at the top of a hill, with views of 5 counties apparently. Someone said it's the highest pub in Derbyshire.
This used to be a regular local drinking haunt of mine as a youngster and it was great to go back for the first time in a few years, for a family celebration meal.
Lovely.

Apparently NASA is intending to launch astronauts to Mars by the late 2030s or early 2040s, but admits even this timescale is challenging. I think it's a very worthwhile mission and I hope we get there someday, but I can't understand anybody actually wanting to be the first human to make that trip. Brave or insane...I can't decide which. Probably both.
Fame. Whichever way it ended up.

If you're going to use ChatGPT, you need to fact check it.
Mark Thomas joined Oxford from Portsnouth in 2014 and stayed their until he joined us.
Gilbey - Never played for Oxford
Henry - joined in 2017 for free from Wolves and is still at the club
Mousinho - joined on a free from Burton and stayed there until he retired.
Johnson - Came through Forest's academy and is still there, and had a loan at Lincoln (where Thomas has never been)
Grant - came through Forest's academy, spent a bit of time at Lincoln (where Thomas has never been)
Cullen - Came through Swansea's academy, spent a bit of time at Lincoln (where Thomas has never been)
Edun - Fulham's academy, a bit of time at Lincoln (where Thomas has never been)
Woolfenden - Came through the Ipswich academy, is still owned by them, and never played for a club Thomas was working at.
But other than that, it's spot on analysis.

Let us know how it goes. Pondering whether to bother with S3.
I'm at Episode 7 now (of Picard S3) and it's very good. My mate who got me to watch it says it keeps getting better - he's on Ep9 I think.

After falling foul of the Manager of the Month curse in a big way, I'd rather we remove ourselves from consideration for any future EFL awards.

Good luck to you Leo Grande (free on Prime)
"Retired widow Nancy Stokes hires a good-looking young sex worker called Leo Grande, in the hope of enjoying a night of pleasure and self-discovery after an unfulfilling married life".
Emma Thompson (who I love) and Daryl McCormack (who I didn't know at all but was very good) in pretty much the only roles in this very interesting film, set in a hotel room and featuring mainly just conversations between the two of them - and a bit of flesh towards the end.
Enjoyed this a lot

The Super Mario Bros Movie.
Apparently loved by the fans having being panned by the critics. Now the biggest ever opening to an animated film and I read it's nailed on to be the biggest grossing film of this year.
Having spent a lot of time with Miss Wolfie during and since the lockdowns in the Mario games universe, we really enjoyed this. If you're familiar with the games & characters, there's a lot of fun to be had in this film.
8/10 - 90 mins of joy for our household.
